Op, that's just a feeding method and i'm sure those parents were very much in control of what they were doing to keep the child from choking.

Do you even know what "child abuse" means? undecided

You cant even classify "pacification" to a certain extent as child abuse

All that "matters" is the intention of the parent, if the Goal of "an action" is "BENEFICIAL" to the child

Such acts irrespective of how extreme they may seem are justified! #To ask is to make obvious ur ignorance
If I hear.

even if u feed the baby for 2years.. Time will come the breast milk will not be enof for the baby and so the baby will need extral somethin plus breast milk.. And phiaaam u do this grin

Lol, well maybe smiley

But your people don't believe in breast-feeding for anything more than 6-months. If the baby refuses food, then it should be taken to the hospital. There's really no sense behind suffocating your own kid with akamu cheesy

Bt I ask again how do u feed a sturbon child who dosnt want to eat? Give her drugs to make her over hungry then screen for food? Or this?
Yes o....very common with Yoruba! My mum said she forcefed me like kilode because I won't just eat.( ah dey form butie) n afterwards I will sleep for hours in contentment! It is a necessary evil n d women are vigilant enough not to let accidents happen...

I don't know if I should call it child abuse but this is totally wrong.... Speaking from the angle of a Healthcare provider, force feeding a child can lead to choking and aspiration which could lead to death of the child. I once had a patient like that, she force fed her child but before she knows what's happening, the baby couldn't move, on getting to the hospital, the baby was brought in dead!!!!

While I won't call it child abuse, it is very dangerous but at the end of the day, it was done with the child's interest at heart.

Let's just call it ignorance and be done with it.

Btw, it is mostly a yoruba thing, I haven't seen it any other place.

I don't mean anything by that o, because I know some people will want to start something, I kuku no send. undecided

Very popular among yoruba folks. I've seen a baby cry her lungs out while her mom "fed" her akanmu through "all channels" grin.

......and by "all channels", I mean her mouth and her NOSE!

Its very wrong, unhealthy and unhygienic. Whatever happened to good-old feeding bottles undecided

Well during when I was little, this was th norm then.

Funny what we considered normal is now frowned upon.

Once upon a time, beating a child is normal, now you can't even try it. That's why kids of today don't have respect.

You see them everywhere they will be bol enough to look you in the eye without even greeting you.
