PS. "Life is easy" doesn't mean everything is a bed of roses o. The way I wrote it could have been misleading cos what I meant was: People don't take life as if they're robots! imagine bank teller for school dey chop for her desk and nobody gives a rat's arrrzzz. Newscaster dey make mistake and dem dey laugh am off, Manager for work dey follow person relate like say una be padis. that's what I meant by being easy.

I don't think it will be same for a hi-tech country like america to recognise a degree from a third world country like Nigeria.they know quite well that we spend 6yrs for 4yrs course due to strike of a thing, they know that our universities don't match up to the standard of their own universities and you expect them to employ us with our naija certificate?the best option is to work in a naija company in the united state and at the same time work for your masters or an American degree. A Nigerian degree is gradually becoming useless in our country, talkless of America.

Okay boss, you've a very interesting and solid profile. But I need to ask, why not the GMAT? Since you're going for an MBA. You've gone very far in business than in Info Systems, so I suggest you choose the MBA. And MBA programs usually take students from all backgrounds, so no worries on that. The only issue is getting into a decent MBA program that will justify the investment, once you finish your program.

As for the GRE, it might be hard to cope with in-person classes, and also take care of the family. You can self-study. Yes, you can. All you'll need is focus and a determination to do important work daily, and make progress in your GRE prep. No matter the distractions you might have.

What MBA programs have you shortlisted? This would help set your target scores, and motivate you moving forward.

Thanks Happy day

The reason for the GRE and not the GMAT is because I found out most schools now accept the GRE for Business School.

I attend an MBA fair last week where Chicago Booth, Columbia and MIT all presented. I did prefer Chicago Booth.

Sorry for this Ivy league schools am mentioning just understand my target is very high

I also read about Wharton and some other crazy Business School.

All the Schools I mentioned accept GRE. So what do you think

These schools are great but with this exchange rate , good soup na money kill am.......but what i just wanted to point out in as much as they "might " now the accepting Gre... GMAT is still the standard for MBA and these schools u mentioned definitely take GMAT . ....

Are you physically present in the US? Likely No..What kind of skills/experience do you have.... Not impossible, but man..you have to be someone who's skills they can't match here and are ready to get a visa to bring you in. Of course if you're a top guy in a multinational with strong ties to their offices here, you can probably get them to file an L1 visa for you.

Considering the quality of the job you'll get if you are lucky to land one and the so many uncertainties, I would say your degree is far better evaluated and used to pursue a/another graduate degree here than used to get a job.

Lol, you don't need to be sorry for aiming so high. Fact is, you should. You don't go for an MBA for the classes, assignments or even projects. You can learn that running a real-time business. You go there for the connections and support long after you graduate. If you get into Chicago Booth, that by itself is an achievement on its own, so that getting a job after graduation won't be much of a problem, because the school would have solved the challenge for you during admissions.

So, don't be shy of going after the Ivy Leagues. Just a caveat though: If your best achievement by the time you'll admitted is that admission itself, then your chances of getting in are very slim. Admission committees at Business Schools tend to admit people who don't need the "school brand" on their CVs - they would've been successful without it. It's like banks lending only to those who don't need the money.

If getting into Chicago Booth would be the best thing that's ever happened to you professionally or personally, your chances are probably pretty slim (because you don't have enough to bring to the table, which is why Chicago Booth would be the best thing that's happened to you).

And one more thing: MBA applications is a whole job on its own. I'll advise you don't start with the GRE.

Try and peruse the application pages of different top B-schools, to have a feel of what they require, so you can determine if it's what you really need now, or will ever need in your career. Check HBS, Stanford GSB, MIT Sloan, Wharton, and also Chicago Booth.

If this feels like it's hard, it's because it is. It's hard, but doable.

Your friend can pay by western union or check. You cant pay for sevis fee if you dont have your i-20 because you need your sevis id to fill the coupon online. So, one step at a time. NIPOST no be here o. I wont advice my enemy to use them cos it might take forever to get your packege delivered. Check with your school, my school uses Fedex, some schools would ask you to pay for courier.
