Bruv, no shame in accepting that you didn't know why MJ was termed Air Jordan. I don't have to give an NBA lecture series to convince, so just believe whatever you wanna believe. smiley

Nerd and Geek are names with good meanings. It's only people that are ignorant who think it's derogatory. So don't even try picking on the name of my moniker. **leave the tautology... I like am like that** smiley

So end the Tap-in merchant campaign!!!!!!!! You and the twitter keyboard warriors are wrong... Period!

U said he is called Air Jordan because he plays shooting guard, as a basketball fan it was my duty to enlighten u. As for the nerd thing u are wrong, the word was made cool, it was originally an insult.

Dictionary.com: a nerd is someone considered to be socially awkward, boring, unstylish etc.

Merriem Webster: a person who behaves awkwardly around people and has unstylish clothes, hair etc.
Oxford dictionary: a single minded expert in a particular field.

Are these good enough or i'm i still ignorant.

Where did I say Iheanacho learnt finishing in England? See me and Yara Yara, see trouble.

I said, City play Iheanacho up front because, as you said in the bolded above, his biggest asset is finishing. He will have more chances to finish more playing up front.

If not City, Iheanacho might not get converted to a striker where he gets chances to finish at such frequency.

What frequency? You think he would not score as many goals if he was played in his natural position? Did you see what Manu and his coach at the academy said? Did you see how many goals and assists he scored playing as a playmaker in the U17? Did you see how many goals he has scored playing close to the midfield in the Super Eagles? I have noticed that being a City fan clouds your judgment. Fact is that he is being underutilized at City. He doesn't get to express himself and play to his strengths in that club, yet you keep insisting City is the best club for him. Baffles!

In enlightening me, you said it was about "dunks".... It was my duty to "actually" enlighthen you.... IT WAS ABOUT HIS "AIR TIME" before he dunks.... He stayed longer in the air than other dunkers.

I mentioned his positions to show how he gets into dunking positions or u didn't see that explanation?? Stop trying so hard to make urself look good.... YOU DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHY HE WAS CALLED AIR JORDAN.

As for the nerd, geek and even dork names... Mister, every name has its history BUT BOTTOMLINE IS THIS: nerd and geek are cool names and are not derogatory... I KNOW ABOUT ALL THOSE DEFINITIONS YOU REELED OUT BUT IS THAT THE ACTUAL UNDERSTANDING TODAY OR JUST A PRODUCT OF HOW PEOPLE VIEW THE NAMES FROM TIMES PAST... Anyone carrying such "derogatory" mindsets is wrong and ignorant.

This will "further enlighten" you. You've decided to pick on the name to save your face and the "tap-in merchant" campaign huh? How rude....

There was a point in time in Taye Taiwo's career when he was amomg the top 3 LBs in the world.

Exactly what I feel "stubborn" Pep hasn't realised. I like Pep for his abilities to make a monster out of a young super talent but his philosophy can blind him at times to certain details he ought to give attention to.

I feel, in as much as pep likes Nacho, he's also limiting some aspects of Nacho's game like for instance, shooting from distance when in few acres of space outside the box. Pep would prefer he keeps the passes flowing... Na wa!!!

For the Super Eagles, we see and we know that Nacho will score lots of goals playing behind the top 9 even though he too can adapt brilliantly as a top9.

Sir TheGoodJoe... Remember when You, Sir Goldfish80 and I had an earlier discussion about this... I gave you three folds in which Nacho's career path will likely follow for the Super Eagles. How Nacho is a super hybrid and why he will own the "behind the striker" role as a no.10 or no.8 in a 4-2-3-1 variant or 4-4-2 respectively (and with respect to other formation options).
How I also mentioned his RWF possibility in a 4-3-3.

Look................

Nacho is excelling as a no.9 for City but I want the City coaches to let him play that role the way he wanna play/execute it... He's more dangerous that way. Let him express himself. He's a player who isn't about just finishing BUT A PLAYER WHO IS ABOUT VISION AND CREATIVITY ALSO.

See the way he builds up plays ingeniously and effortlessly as seen against Southampton when he came in and became City's savior. HE TRANSFORMED THE ATTACK because HE WAS FREE TO DROP DEEP AND BE INVOLVED IN BRILLIANT BUILD-UP PLAYS AND EVEN SET-UP GUNDOGAN AND SILVA IN BEAUTIFUL MANNERS WHICH IS WHY HE'S A NO.10 and YEP HE SHOWS HIS POACHER'S INSTINCT AND "RAUMDEUTER" QUALITIES because he's a no.10 with the added finishing and positioning attributes of a no.9.

SIR TheGoodJoe.... Just accept it... Nacho is a hybrid... A no.10/no.9 super hybrid and must be allowed to express such like he does for Nigeria if the world must "CONSTANTLY" see his "all round monstrous" qualities which he showcases for the Super Eagles.

And guess what, Nacho will make it 5 goals in 5 consecutive games (he mite even get a brace) against Algeria come November 12 and he will do so from "behind the striker" *winks* #IHopeIAmRight_as regards the Algeria game smiley

Anyway shaa... Before I go into the "most critical stage" of the state of coma awaiting your "revival help", I just wanna say that there are certain Analysts here who I rate and respect a lot beyond all lines of agreements and disagreements.... smiley

Sir Joseph1013... He's a top analytical mind who loves to look at all sides. He doesn't drop much comments but when he does.... Hmmm... It's worth a read.

Sir Icon4s.... He's too experienced and "wise" for most of us. Sometimes, it's like he sees beyond what we see. Wetin else you expect from the chief guardian and elder of the halls of experience and history? smiley **still remembers that experience vs Youth precocity debate** chaiii...

Sir BascoVanVeli.... This Oga sef... He's another respected voice in the house. Sometimes love to play the devil's advocate... smiley all in all, his analysis is always worth a read too.

Sir Tbaba1234..... Drops comments in two or three lines... Sometimes... ONE LINE!!! Just legendary!!!!! It's amazing how someone gets to say so much and make so much sense in just one to four lines.... smiley

Sirs Terzurum5, Mickael2, Goldfish80, AIG07, Justiz5 and Madam Safarigirl must get really special mentions here..... I can't state all.... Pls this is no dig at anyone... This is actually about the moniker below who I wanna talk a little about.....

Finally....

Sir TheGoodJoe.... IS THERE A BETTER "DETAILED AND SUPER INFORMATIVE" ANALYST HERE IN THE HOUSE?? Hmmmm... It may be my own opinion but I DON'T THINK THERE IS. HE'S A BEAST ANALYST... THE BEST I'VE SEEN. Lawd!!!

Only thing be say he too like this Oshaniwa too much!!!! Even Forgiveness must be spoiling for a fight to attack that "oshaniwa better than taiwo" comment... grin

If you ask me, I go be the referee for that fight and truth is FORGIVENESS MUST WIN WITH A KNOCK-OUT... smiley

EVERYONE HERE HAVE PREFERENCES BUT LET'S NOT MAKE IT SO OBVIOUS..... TheGoodJoe have always been clamouring for this oshaniwa. Well, na him sabi that one. WHAT ABOUT HIS LOVE FOR MANCITY?? CHAIIII... LEGENDARY!!! He loves them to a super fault... Looollll

Anyway, that's by the way.... No one can deny his analytical prowess.... I PERSONALLY RATE HIM THE FINEST ANALYST IN OUR MIDST ON NL SPORTS. I am sure there are several who agree.... smiley

......................................................................

Meanwhile.... I am still not recovered from the coma Sir GoodJoe..... You and Yara Yara and madam Confun berra do something... This is code-red....

The best of Messi came when he played up top. That is how you get the best of Nacho. Read up on the false 9 and tell me you do not see a total description of Nacho.

If you want Nacho to play behind the striker, he should feel comfortable on the bench. No one will drop Silva, Gundogan or De Bruyne to play Nacho.

City created Space for Nacho by letting Dzeko, Jovetic, Bony and preventing the Aubameyang deal. Give them credit. Under City Nacho is one of the deadliest strikers in Europe. How many of our youngsters progressed like Nacho.

This is not sentiments. It is the wing I played. I am left handed and footed. I faced brilliant wingers on amateur level. Just as in the last game, check back, many said Echiejile was okay. It was false. I watch that wing a lot.

I said, Taiwo could shoot and influence the attack. Read well before tagging me bias or sentimental.

I RATE OSHANIWA HIGHER THAN TAIWO.

This is due to what I believe is important. Clichy is one of my best left backs. Bellerin is one of my best right backs today.

The speed at which they run up and down the flanks is important to me. Not their attacking play.

Roberto Carlos was once the second best player in the World. Get that. Second best in the World. Rated higher than players like Raul and Kanu.

Yet, I rate Celestine Babayaro higher. I do not just follow popular demands. I judge myself.

The way Ronald De Boer skinned Carlos repeatedly in France 98, he would never do that against Celestine Babayaro.

Taiwo would not defend against Messi and Di Maria the way Oshaniwa did.

Okay then.... "The false 9" NOT "The Top 9" smiley

That's the difference.

But Nacho isn't being used as a false 9 by Pep just yet in extensive terms. Nacho played that false 9 role against Man Utd when his dropping into the midfield always confounded Bailley.

Since then, Pep hasn't tot of it. Or maybe he's waiting to sell Aguero firstly?

I was one of the first to say, NACHO REMINDS ME OF A MESSI because OF HIS HYBRID QUALITIES AS A NO.10/NO.9 ROLLED INTO ONE....

The false 9 fits him perfectly coz he's allowed to roam and express his no.10 quailities and still maintain his no.9 attributes.

All I am saying Sir GoodJoe... is this... Nacho may lead the lines but only as a false 9 in a 4-3-3 or whatever formation OR he plays behind the striker.

Both ways... His allround qualities will always show.
But limiting him the way he's been at City to just "be a no.9" is not the way UNLESS PEP HAS THE FALSE 9 IN MIND IN THE LONG RUN.

Don't know why anyone would say City converting Nacho to a 9 is a bad thing. Nacho's strongest asset is his finishing. He has a good final pass, but he is a much better finisher. His case is a bit similar to that of RVP. Wenger once said RVP was "Bergkamp with goals". Rvp was eventually converted to a striker in a 4-3-3/4-5-1 and thrived in it. People initially questioned Wenger's decision at first, but fact was Cesc/Arshavin/Nasri/Hleb were all better number 10s than RVP at that time.
Same applies to Nacho...as a Number 10/SS, it'd have been MUCH difficult for him to get into the team than as a 9. As a 9, he has only Aguero as a real threat. As a number 10, he has Silva, KDB, Nasri even Yaya to contend with.
If anything, city has done us a HUGE favor by making him a 9 as he's one of the best finishers we've had in a while and we haven't had a "creative forward" like him play in the NT for a while.

It's not a bad thing. Others may be going to that extreme but not me.

I'm only saying let a balance be struck for Nacho to "not just be 9" but actually a hybrid 9.... More like a false 9.

Let Pep do to Nacho what he did to messi... Coz that's what I see in Nacho... A NO.10/NO.9 SUPER HYBRID AS A FALSE 9 OR A SUPER AMF (WHO CAN PLAY RWF ALSO).

Watch the way executes the AMF role for Nigeria... He's a badass messi-like false 9 waiting to be unleashed. CITY DID US ONE GREAT FAVOR.... "Giving Nacho the best of education to refine his finishing and badass positioning sense when it comes to attacking small pockets of space".

But NACHO ISN'T JUST ALL ABOUT FINISHING.... HE'S ALSO ABOUT CREATIVITY AND MAKING THOSE RUNS TOWARDS GOAL WITH THE BALL (HE SHOWED THAT AGAINST LUXEMBOURG).

Pep should open his eyes and "see"... smiley

i'm not surprised you would come up with this kind of silly comparisons. you want to compare taiwo to kaka and ronaldinho really? a football novice to ballon d'or winners? i tire for you.

ronaldinho was a resounding success in psg and barca. his time at ac milan though not stellar was above average. kaka was almost a walking deity when he was at ac milan. his time at real madrid though blighted by injuries was above average. unlike egbon taiwo who barely played 2 games for ac milan. even milan legend maldini questioned his signing.

elderson as poor as he is we won AFCON using him. how many did egbon taiwo win with nigeria after 3 attempts?

anyway i don't expect what i wrote to change your mind since he's a favourite of yours so let's just agree to disagree because i know you are the king of unnecessary arguments which i don't have time for today.

forgiveness:

So, you mean Ronaldinho na bad player because he flopped in AC Milan?

Kaka wey flop for Real Madrid nko?

Who told you because he was bad they loaned him off?

What?!!! This is blasphemy!

I rate. Is not Blasphemy. Read what I said again. I know it is against the views of many. I share a lot of different views from many football watchers.

That is why I used I rate. Oshaniwa has qualities many left backs we had over the years did not have.

I doubt many in this thread noticed the gaps Echiejile created in the last game. I did because those are the kind of things I judge and watch. Oshaniwa might not hit the ball as smooth as Taiwo or influence the attack like Taiwo.

I rate Oshaniwa higher because when we lose the ball, Oshaniwa was always back defending. When we attacked, he was always up there to help the attack remain fluid.

yep, it was against maradona tutored side.

i'm not surprised you would come up with this kind of silly comparisons. you want to compare taiwo to kaka and ronaldinho really? a football novice to ballon d'or winners? i tire for you.

ronaldinho was a resounding success in psg and barca. his time at ac milan though not stellar was above average. kaka was almost a walking deity when he was at ac milan. his time at real madrid though blighted by injuries was above average. unlike egbon taiwo who barely played 2 games for ac milan. even milan legend maldini questioned his signing.

elderson as poor as he is we won AFCON using him. how many did egbon taiwo win with nigeria after 3 attempts?

anyway i don't expect what i wrote to change your mind since he's a favourite of yours so let's just agree to disagree because i know you are the king of unnecessary arguments which i don't have time for today.

how would you use winning nations as a criteria for saying elderson is better, you look at individual influence/performance in a game, its just like saying Drogba is better than Weah cos Weah could not take liberia to the world cup.

where in my post did i say elderson is better? i used AFCON as a criteria to show that even without taiwo nigeria has won stuff and done well so all this talk of bringing him back is mute. taiwo in his pomp belongs to the same school of players like roberto carlos, deigo alves etc whose attacking play covers their defensive inadequacies.

for sure elderson and oshaniwa are not as athletic or strong as taiwo but you can be damn sure they wouldn't be caught out of position unlike egbon TT on numerous occasions

well drogba vs george weah is debatable. not now sha maybe next time smiley

yea, I believe in forward ever, no Taiwo, Enyema or Emenike for supereagles again, I rather call Taiwo to the team to oshaniwa. Oshaniwa wey no go see shirt for Ikorodu united... Abeg where that Ndidi guy that played LB for U-17, that guy is a combination of taiwo(powerful shot) and Babayaro(skillful)

TheGoodJoe:

So, you did see how Messi ran away from Taiwo's wing in 2010 World Cup because of the way Taiwo restricted his play?
