Chelsea Loanee Tammy Abraham Back On The Goal Trail For Bristol City
https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/89677Abraham.jpg
A last-gasp equalizer denied Bristol City the maximum points in their Championship tie at Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham thought he had scored the game-winner in the 76th minute, only for the home team to restore parity through Adam Hammill in injury time.

The Nigeria target tapped home from close range to take his tally to 12 goals in all competitions after he was fed by Tomlin.

Before today’s game at Oakwell, Abraham had failed to score in four consecutive matches against Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.

He was named the EFL Young Player of the Month for September earlier this week.

Rohr may want that Mikel-Iheanacho-Iwobi combo to continue from where it stopped. Iheanacho may b retained as an AM and nt the CF. U dnt change a winning formation(one of the rules of coaching wink).

I dnt see Simon starting.

We need a lot of wing running in this set-up and the two Moses can do this well.

Nice formation. But I will pick Ideye to start against Algeria. Ighalo has been having a questionable and erratic form recently, and his failure to meet up to expectation against Eygpt in the two legged games speaks volume.

Ideye has been good for his club side, and he was also instrumental in our crucial win against Zambia depsite his failure to find the back of the net, I'm impressed with his teamwork and responsiveness.

As for Madu and Echiejile, we run a lot of risk with Echiejile playing. The gaps behind is too much and he puts the defence under pressure when one has to leave his position to help cover his gaps.

Rohr called Madu, that means he sees something in him. The news from the camp will reveal more but if Madu can provide more cover for the defence and passing options during build-up plays, then I see him unseating Echiejile.

What is most important to me in the full back role is how quickly a player runs up and down the flanks. It should look effortless. Then marking the winger. Then providing crosses and perpetrating runs.

I feel Madu can contribute more after the nightmare Echiejile had. Madu looks more comfortable fulfilling the above attributes.

Although most of my judgment are from his clips. It is different in a full game scenario. Madu needs to pull up a brilliant performance in camp. We need a solid left back option. Echiejile is a no no for me.

Bros he chose both teams bc Chelsea and Watford together have 4 Nigerian players. Chelsea also bc of the Mikel's non playing time and Watford could be to assess the recovery rate of Isaac Success. He also visited Arsene and Iwobi.

I guess he did not pick the brains for a thing or two from Wenger bc he does not play 3-4-3.
so u are saying he went to watford and chelsea and the 3-4-3 didn't come up, not once? Speak 4 ur self i for one know that coaches when they meet up like this always discuss tactics. Even England's rugby coach learned tactics from Pep when he was in Germany. If Rohr went to arsenal, chelsea and watford without tapping the coaches minds then he is not a good coach becos coaches always want to keep learning.

I'm sure the Europa league game against Inter milan also formed part of Rohr's decision to recall Ogu apart from the one Rohr watched live... smiley

The One Game That Made Super Eagles Coach Rohr Change His Mind About John Ogu

https://i2.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/image-79.jpg?fit=391%2C376

The inclusion of John Ogu in the Super Eagles list for their World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Algeria next month has generated a lot of discussion, because less than a month ago the manager Gernot Rohr ruled him out of his team.

Israeli based Ogu was included by the manager in his official list of players for the November 12th tie in Uyo, as exclusively confirmed by
Owngoalnigeria.com three days ago.

Owngoalnigeria.com in it’s traditional style of
going behind the scene to bring out hidden
details can exclusively confirmed, that his
inclusion was based on a particular game the
manager watched.

Ogu won the manager over with his performances in Hapoel Be’er Sheva Europa League game against Sparta Praha of Czech Republic, even though his team lost 1-0.

Rohr was impressed by the way he stuck to his
role as the screen of the defensive and his
passing range, which is usually something the
coach loves to see in his players.

His instinct to hit forward passes and not
sideways or backwards like Anderson Esiti of Gent who was axed for the 28 year old, gave him the edge to be called up.

However, he still has a whole lot of work to do if
he is to displace the manager’s preferred midfield duo of Mikel Obi and Eddy Onazi, particularly Onazi who has more or less personalised the team defensive midfield position the last two years.

EXCLUSIVE: Why Wolfsburg Victor Osimhen
Was Dropped From Super Eagles Squad For Algeria Tie

https://i2.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/image-4.jpg?fit=768%2C960

The reason behind the late omission of Victor
Osimhen from the Super Eagles team for the
November 12 game against Algeria has been
unraveled by Owngoalnigeria.com.

Osimhen was handed a call up by manager
Gernot Rohr after a meeting with Watford Isacc
Success who confirmed that he won’t be available for the tie against Algeria, due to fitness issues.

Rohr called up Osimhen, who is now in Germany where he has joined Wolfsburg ahead of his first team debut for the team, when he completes 18 by december 2016.

His German club Wolfsburg stopped him from
honouring the call, as his visa is a single entry six months visa which will run till when he turns 18 and become eligible to apply for a work permit.

If he travels out of Germany, a fresh application
process will have to start for him and it could take months before he gets his passport, which could hinder the plans of the club for him.

EXCLUSIVE: Russian Law On Dual Citizenship Stops Brian Idowu From Joining Super Eagles For Algeria Clash

https://i0.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-73.jpg?fit=620%2C372

Brian Idowu was a late omission from Nigeria’s
World Cup 2018 list of players for the November
12 game against Algeria, due to his Russian roots and the country’s law on immigration.

The Amkar Perm defender was approached by
Nigeria to play for the senior national team of
Nigeria, an offer he gladly accepted ahead of
Nigeria’s clash against Algeria.

However, a review of the Russian law on dual
citizenship which was done in 2014, requires
citizens with dual nationality to inform their local
migration office 60 days to when they intend to
take or add another international passport to that of Russia.

24 year old Idowu was born in Russia to Nigerian parents and has only visited Nigeria once, and the contact with Nigeria was done few months ago, well short of the 60 days required by the law in Russia.

Manager Gernot Rohr had to hand a late call up to Musa Mohammed when it became evident that Idowu’s passport issue won’t be resolved until after late in November.

Magnificent Olympiakos Striker Ideye Takes
His Tally To Seven Goals

https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/32457Ideye.jpg

Olympiakos moved seven points clear at the top of the Greek Super League standings following their 1-0 win over Atromitos at Peristeri Stadium on Saturday evening.

The defending champions got their sixth consecutive win in all competitions thanks to their Nigerian star Brown Ideye, who netted the game-winner in the 54th minute.

Ideye was left unguarded in the area and made it 1-0 with a header after Fortounis had sent his
cross to the number 99.

Of the seven strikers/forwards called up to the Nigeria
squad to face Algeria in a World Cup qualifier,
Ideye has netted the most goals, seven from 13
matches across all competitions, and leads the
goalscoring charts in the Super League.

He was named Man of the Match for his brilliant
display versus Atromitos.

I have often said it that Iheanacho in a team makes u have 12 players on the pitch.

Have u also observed that Iheanacho's better games at City were when he was played as a Supporting striker and not as the lone striker?

When Iheanacho plays as a lone striker and does nt get the balls he becomes ineffective.

With Iheanacho as a number 10 in a 4-2-3-1, he can easily drift into the SS position and make it a 4-4-2. Meaning he easily switches btw 10 & 8.

Iheanacho likes being involved in build up play (number 10) and also likes getting involved at the end of the build up play (8 or 9). The 2nd goal against Zambia comes to mind.

You dnt rate a player based on club form alone. U also look at the abilities of the player in question. Based on abilities Ighalo has more to offer. The only thing Ideye did right against Zambia was his involvement in buildup play to Iheanacho's goal. A striker that did not have a single shot at goal. If Ideye was the one that found himself at the end of that build up play that Iheanacho scored, I can bet Ideye would have played it into d keeper's hand.

You may not personally like Echiejile but i can tell u that from that list he is the best player for that position. Baring any injuries Echiejile will start against Algeria.

Ekong needs to do well enough to cover up for Echiejile when he overlaps and the LWF can also do well to often break the d attack from the opposition thereby giving Echiejile enough time to recover and move back to space. Onazi also has a great role to play here.

EXCLUSIVE: Why Nosa Igiebor And Anderson Esiti Were Axed By Gernot Rohr For Algeria Clash

As the Super Eagles of Nigeria step up their preparations for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers game against Algeria, Owngoalnigeria.com has gotten an insight as to why the duo of Anderson Esiti and Nosa Igiebor were dropped from the list of players for the tie.

The duo as reported by Owngoalnigeria.com are not in the list of 25 players called up for the November 12 tie, which could have a big impact on Nigeria’s leadership of Group B.

Gent of Belgium midfield powerhouse Esiti, whose inclusion has generated lot of debates was dropped due to the presence of utility midfielders in Wilfred Ndidi and Shehu Abdullahi.

Ndidi and Abdullahi can both play as full backs aside their defensive midfield role, with Genk Ndidi also able to play in central defence unlike Esiti who is only at home playing as a defensive midfielder, a role Eddy Onazi has made his personal property since 2013.

Esiti’s pace was another deciding factor as he could slow down quick breaks, due to his lack of pace and inability to play a forward pass unlike the other players in his role.

Meanwhile Igiebor failed to sufficiently justify his call up to the team for the previous games against Tanzania and Zambia, with his performances against Akwa United and Plateau United in two friendly game, no where near what Rohr needs from his midfielder.

http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/10/29/exclusive-why-nosa-igiebor-and-anderson-esiti-were-axed-by-gernot-rohr-for-algeria-clash/
Utility players would always make the team.

Ndidi and Shehu are great assets to the team. They are as important as u having a standby generator during a surgical operation. cheesy

ROHR GOES TOUGH ON LATE COMERS, 'MISBEHAVING' EAGLES BY INSISTING ON ABUJA CAMP

No-nonsense Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr hopes to check Super Eagles late comers and those who like to “misbehave” by insisting the team train in Abuja before they head off to a match venue.

That is why the experienced Franco-German coach has fixed training camp in Abuja for next month’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Algeria even though it will be played in Uyo.

Players have used poor flight connections to Uyo as reason why they have reported late in camp and that way stayed away from the limited number of trainings before a big game.

Also, the big hotel in Uyo has made it very difficult for the players to be fully monitored by officials leading up to a match day.

“Rohr has been far from impressed with some of the Super Eagles stars who have chosen to report late to camp citing the difficulty of connecting local flights to Uyo,” an official exclusively disclosed.

“By having the squad all in Abuja now, they will all leave for Uyo as a group some days to a big game.

“There are always flight from Europe and locally to Abuja and so no one can use flight hitches as an excuse to come late to camp anymore.”

Another top official informed that the team’s hotel in Abuja is a lot more compact as against the hotel in Uyo, which is big and sprawling and so gives room for the players to whatever they choose even before a big game.

“The hotel in Uyo is just too big for you to monitor what the players are up to at any given point in time, while that in Abuja you can easily check any misbehavior and excesses,” said the official.

Rohr questioned the “lack of focus” of Leicester City star Ahmed Musa prior to the game in Zambia earlier this month when he drove into camp with an expensive new car.

He subsequently dropped the Eagles assistant captain to the bench for the match in Ndola.

The Eagles training camp will open on Sunday night, November 6, and training is slated to begin Monday morning.

The squad will then fly out to Uyo on Thursday ahead of the showdown against Algeria on Saturday.

I understand why people prefer Iheanacho as a ten. However, Aguero’s game yesterday was a replica of how Iheanacho will fit into the top of the 4-2-3-1 formation. Aguero played virtually as a ten. Dictating play with passes and dribbling skills.

It was amazing and the second goal was similar to the curling shots of Nacho.

I say we play Nacho forward and let him play as a free 9 with the liberty to roam around the back line.

I gotta give it to Aguero yesterday. He was top-notch in that 3-4-3 set-up and strived brilliantly as a Roaming no.9/false 9.

Nacho can do that and do so even better.

Anyway, any chance Nacho will be involved on November 1st when MSN and co come calling? smiley

Algeria Begin Monitoring Nigerian Players,
Rohr Tactics On Wednesday

https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/61443NGR.jpg

New Algeria manager Georges Leekens will begin monitoring the Nigerian national team and the tactics usually employed by manager Gernot Rohr as from Wednesday morning.

Whilst the Nigerian Federation have announced
the 24 players summoned for the World Cup
qualifier in Uyo, Leekens will reveal his roster on
Tuesday morning before the start of a press
conference.

Le Buteur says the former Belgium and Tunisia
coach will study the last three or four matches
played by the Super Eagles to get an idea of the
formation and playing style of the team.

Georges Leekens will carefully analyze Nigeria’s
opener against Zambia in Ndola and highlight the weaknesses and strengths of the squad.
He has penned a three - year contract with the
Algerian Football Federation.

I do not even understand why people will want to play him as a 10 sef, let him score the goals for us, we have other people who can play there, like I have already said before, He was invited as one of the forwards, let him fight for the sole top 9 position with Ighalo and leave that 10 position, Iwobi can play this opening up space for another true winger who will provide width. anybody who watched Barcelona's game yesterday will.understand the true power of maintaining width in the pitch, Busquets was out so Rakitic was playing there it had to force Messi to play as an extra midfielder this totally breaking down the right side of the attack, only Roberto was moving there, what followed was that the players now.had to move through the middle and that gave Granada's 9man defence line the opportunity to squash any attack without distorting their shape.
at arsenal they have Monreal who can cover an provide width when Iwobi roams forward, and even at arsenal Iwobi always maintains his position out wide bit for Nigeria, He was virtually the an extra MAN in midfield. either he stays disciplined out wide or play him as a ten and push Nacho upfront simple

A close escape for Musa Muhammad. I hope he can show the coach something better in camp and more importantly get a club in January. Brian Idowu is waiting on the wings.

I don't see Musa Muhammad or Ebuehi starting. Rohr already talked about Musa not meeting the standard in the last camp so Musa will have to show solid improvement. The coach might be reluctant to give Ebuehi his debut in a high profile match of this kind unless he has an exceptional camp form.We might be seeing another make -shift right back.

Echiejiele will be at left back, i think madu also made the team because of the absence of Brian Idowu who plays left and right back. Madu is another one that needs to improve. I prefer Echiejiele to face mahrez.

CB is fine, We will have to re consider Agbo's position as he is back to playing DM at club level.

In midfield, by dropping Esiti and igiebor, it appears that rohr prefers mobile midfielders.. players who can move and play the box to box role. Esiti is more of a sitting DM. Igiebor is also quite static... I do not see any change from the Zambia match.

Up front, i expect victor moses to come in for simon. Ideye might lead the line.

Yea, one is not suppose to assess a player solely on club form, but we can attest that club form is a major mechanism through which a player is assessed. A player spends most of his playing career period on playing for his club than his country. I believe Messi won his majority of his world best awards due to his contribution to his club than country, and we all withnessed how Yaya Toure was “voted” the best player in Africa ahead of Mikel who won the Afcon for Nigeria because of his club form.

You said we ought to look at the abilities of the player, yes, but what makes a player to perform for both clubs and country? I think the answer should be his “abilities.”

So we can surmise that Ideye has demonstrated his stellar “abilities” in his club and also if given a chance, he would replicate such for his country. We saw how he was behind Emenike's success at Afcon. His style of play will be very apt for Iheanacho, Mikel and Iwobi, creating enough rooms for passing football that will break down the Agerian defense and also allow Iheanacho to push for goals. It was like a similar case with Torres at Chelsea, although he wasn't banging the goals as expected, but he created many chances at Chelsea and assists.

We need to be innovative agianst the Algerians. At least Ighalo was featured twice against a fellow North African team Egypt and he couldn't justify his selection, so that should give us a clue about his questionable form and shun repeating a similar mistake.
