Seun:
I stopped going to church years before starting Nairaland. My folks forced me to attend church and the daily family prayer time for a while, but when I started asking questions they couldn't answer, they stopped, because they didn't want my siblings to lose their faith too.

Here's a thread titled "Why I Am Not A Christian Anymore" which I posted less than a year after starting Nairaland.

No big deal. I've been here since 2005

Well, the way he spoke in that post doesn't seem like someone who was still going to church sha. Especially with him saying he 'mourned the loss for less than two years' meaning that he was still trying to go to church during that time and then after a while he cinoeltely discarded it. I don't see what Seun will gain from lying about his atheism. That's just what I feel sha

No biggie.... I've been on NL with seun since 2005

Seun pause for a second and take a second look at your rant in response to donnie....just look at it line from line then ask yourself who is overreacting especially when you said you would be opened to interractions...

Would donnie fabricate such a statement and to what gain? Your records show he has been a member since 2005 besides you are the admin of NL and its so easy for you to get to his post where you said that and have it deleted afterall you easily delete posts on your threads?

Can he not also say you could have deleted his claim so it wouldnt implicate you? you have the knife and the yam and are judge and jury here.

Stop being irrational pls.

Yes. . . donnie . . . Mr. Seun is saying the truth. Out of curiosity I wanted to know what he looked like because Id never seen his face before and I googled his name. . . I saw one post made by a 'Seun Osewa' in reply to someone asking, saying he's losing his religion. Seun's reply was 'I lost my religion years(or 'a long time', I can't remember the exact words) ago'. But the post was dated to 2005. And I don't think he had created Nairaland by then. . . so, stop these lies.

naijadeyhere: My parents never encouraged my atheism, but they ... decided to focus on 'protecting' my siblings, which was very smart.

The traedays blog comment shows that I was an atheist long before 2005 which is when I started Nairaland. Why is donnie still talking?

I am sorry if I am being a bit pushy or personal and probably crossing the emotional line with you but I am sure you can deduce from my recent pm to you a few days ago that I am a very blunt and outspoken person so pls indulge me as we carry on with this interview...

You said you asked your parents some questions which they could not answer..may I knew some of those questions?

If you say they saw you as a lost cause and focused on protecting your siblings I am sure when you become a parent you would understand why they did that...until you do then do not say you are a lost cause to them plus even if you were so in their eyes you are not in Gods eyes.

Your comment here is somehow hinting on the fact that anger, loneliness and probably unacceptance of your questions, views and eventually you formed a mindset in you which overtime solidified and emerged as full blown atheism.

So what were the questions you asked?

Praying for him to return to a morally despicable Christian God.
Uh uh. I don't think so. Any God that creates hell to eternally torment unbelievers and punishes with death generations of people for one man's mistake is precisely that.

Your children may eventually ask you questions meant for atheists that you may not be able to answer. Maybe that's when it'll down on you....

Let me click on that link first.

I think the world will become a much better place if we were all atheists, because we would strive to solve all our problems instead of expecting divine intervention which never really happens. We would value human life very much because we know that once lost it cannot be replaced.

Please, how did you come about the bolded? Was there someone very close to you who never gave the human life the value it deserves?

This is nonsense. Anger and loneliness had nothing to do with his rejection of Christianity. Just a dose of rational thought.

[quote author=naijadeyhia post=50837397]
So what were the questions you asked?

Lemme just ask some questions of my own.

1) Is punishing innocent people for another man's wrong right ? If no, then why do you believe God's actions in Eden were right ?

2) Do you believe a person should be killed for stopping a person. from falling ? If no, then how can God's action in 2 Samuel 6:6-7 be justified ?

3) Explain how drwowning the whole world, including babies, because of sin is right.

4) Why is hell justified ?

5) How is killing an innocent man to remit people's sin right ? If you could, would you kill and resurrect yourself to forgive your child's wrong ?

6) Why did His condone slavery in ancient times something we now know to be wrong ?

Please don't call him a 'lost cause'. God forbids! I reject that on his behalf. Who are you to call him that. Please let's be wise here and not use sensitive words against one another.

I suggest you modify that. You yourself will feel good in your heart afterwards.

Seun you are still not opening up on the questions you said you asked your parents which they failed to answer.

You mentioned 2 different positions. You mentioned RELIGION and then CHRISTIANITY. So which are you running from? Religion which man has used to adulterate Christianity or actual Christianity which represented Christ?

What questions did you ask your parents Seun?

Very good Seun, very very good. It is good to see that you are not bound by the chains of religion.

Now that it has been established that you are not bound by the fakeries of religion, and in consequence willing to be logical and realistic, can we approach the subject of God realistically and logically? Are you game?
