Now you're explaining tactics and team movement.
Who doesn't know when one full back attacks the other stays back to give support to the defence incase of a fast break.

Funny enough, in your review after the game you were all over the place slatting Elderson for not offering much in the attack. If he didn't bomb forward according to you, how come Ndidi always stayed back to offer support as a third man?

My point was that Ndidi didn't have to Dominate aerial battles because he was not in the line of fire.if he had played as a DM or a CB he would have battled with the Zambian striker Mbesuma who Omeruo tracked all game.
Except you're saying Rainford Kalaba was the Zambian target man.
You lie again.. Lol
Your point was that you made a funny statement about right-back and aerial balls. You are funny abeg you. You do not even remember how Kalaba got his Yellow card. It was in the eighteen yard box and it was Ndidi marking. So please, I have explained how Ndidi got to the line of fire. You can read stats and argue.

Leave me please. I am yet to recover from Hillary Clinton's loss.

I thought our argument was about Ndidi winning aerial balls durring the game?
I can't be stupid not to know that Ndidi spent a lot of time in our own half durring the game.
When the Zambians were in the ascendancy, he dropped even deeper to curtail their furrays.
Truth was that Rohr knew Ndidi was strong aerially by knowing his stats and he proved that in training, so he got the nod to start.

Sorry about Hillary's loss. 2020 elections is just around the corner, never say never grin

I think in the set-up from africanfootball.com reports, Kelechi may play a kind of false 9 which can see him switch positions at will with Etebo and do his sleek build-up attacking moves with Iwobi.

When a certain Sir Zuchyblink said Etebo could strike for us, a lot of people laughed it off.... But here you are suggesting the same thing in this set-up. smiley

safarigirl:
I don't like Kelechi as a lone striker.

Either pair him up or shift him behind Etebo while Etebo leads

Alampasu Turning Heads With Save After
Save In Training, Thwarts Man City Iheanacho

https://i1.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-23.jpg?fit=676%2C676

Nigeria youth international Dele Alampasu has
emerged as the fans favourite in Abuja, where the Super Eagles are presently training ahead of their World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Algeria in Uyo.

Alampasu one of the three goalkeppers jostling to replace injured first choice goalkepper Carl Ikeme has been impressing the coaching crew with his reflexes and confidence between the sticks.

He thrice picked out crosses with ease and
barked out instructions to his defenders like a
seasoned professional regardless of the fact that
he is the youngest goalkepper in the team.

The highlight of his performance was a strong
save from Manchester City forward Kelechi
Iheanacho who thought his effort was creeping
in, until his former U-17 teammate pulled out a
stupendous one hand save to keep him out.

He appears to be the fittest among the
goalkeppers in camp, although the experience of Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa could give them an edge in the battle to be named between the sticks for Nigeria against Algeria.

Battle For Second Choice Goalkepper Intensifies As Rohr Drops Big Hint On First Choice

https://i1.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-23.jpg?fit=676%2C676

The battle for who will be on the bench as the
reserve goalkepper when Nigeria take on Algeria
this weekend will move to a whole new height in
the coming days as the game approaches.

Already coach Gernot Rohr speaking yesterday
dropped a line that suggest he is already looking
towards who will be his first choice with
Ikechukwu Ezenwa currently favoured.

Daniel Akpeyi and Dele Alampasu are the other
two goalkeppers in the camp of the team ahead
of the November 12 game, but it appears the
German coach has partly made up his mind as to who will be between the sticks.

During yesterday’s session Ezenwa was put
through special drills by goalkeeper trainer Alloy
Agu while Alampasu and Akpeyi were involved in
full scale training with the rest of the squad.

”We have a goalkepper who has been with us for some time now, he has played test games for us against local sides. That alone is an edge but we have to consider other factors as well before
settling on who will be in goal” He told
Owngoalnigeria.com during a chat before their
training.

Alloy Agu. I am looking one eye to look at you. There reason why I pointed drills is because I knew Alloy Agu went through a lot of it and knows how to do it. If drills is what Alloy wants to use as his pick, put all the keepers through it and select the best.

Mbok Alloy, I am not in a good mood. (Heartbroken)

DAY 2: Leon Balogun, Alampasu, Victor Moses & Iheanacho Lead Top Performers In Eagles Training

https://i0.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/image-24.jpg?fit=2048%2C1536

Owngoalnigeria.com covered the second day of
training of the Super Eagles which took place at
the training pitch of the National Stadium Abuja,
ahead of their clash with Algeria on Saturday.
As it is our usual tradition, we bring to you the
five players who were very impressive during the session, under the watchful eyes of coach Gernot Rohr.

Leon Balogun

The Main O5 defender returned back to training
with the fitness of an Ox, he was very commanding in the defence, tackled with ease
and was very domineering in the air. He came
close to scoring with a well hit drive which
brought out a strong save from Daniel Akpeyi. His performance will no doubt put to rest any fear regarding his fitness and readiness for Saturday’s clash.

Victor Moses

The Chelsea wingback was simply un-playable to the defender who were up against him, extremely confident with the ball at his feet, full of movement without the ball with an energy level which shouldn’t be a surprise judging by his role as a wing back at Chelsea. His mazy runs from either flanks will no doubt be a cause of concern for the Algerians if he gets to play.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Another training session, another goal and
another performance to be proud off. He was very very good in front of goal. Not scared of shooting and once again his link up play with Brown Ideye and Alex Iwobi was top notch. Sure to be a mainstay in this team if he maintains his current progress.

John Ogu
Strong, combative and creative. His forward
range of passes were a beauty to behold. His
aerial abilities was also a point he stressed and
excelled in during the session. Ogu although
didn’t get into goal scoring position that much.

He lookes every inch a player playing with a
grudge or rather a point to prove judging by his
work rate and contributions during the session.

Dele Alampasu

For the second day running the CD Feirense
loanee proved his invitation is no fluke at all. He
was impressive, brave, commanding and full of
confident. The 2013 U-17 best goalkepper was
very good at claiming crosses into the box, and
his constant barking of instructions to his
defenders kept his backline organised.

The highlight of his performance was a smart stop from Iheanacho.

The fears are genuine. He has empowered white supremacists to be more vocal. Closet racists have come out of their crevices. There will almost certainly be increased attacks on minorities.

@safarigirl thanks for the info

seems rohr is thinking of starting etebo but in what role AMF?, SS? the times i have seen etebo his attacking forays from midfield have always stood him out. don't know if he can operate in an advanced attacking position with alot of attention from opposition defenders.

i don't if rohr also is interested in playing shehu abdullahi in the LB. he's decent going up and down the flanks but i don't know how good his left foot is.

@supernerd yeah it's kinda defensive but i'm sure there's enough attacking potential to do damage to the algerians

this one alampasu is shining in training will rohr pick him hmmm fingers crossed

ALGERIA SUFFER ANOTHER INJURY BLOW
AFTER NAPOLI ACE GHOULAM OPTS OUT

https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/11/Faouzi_Ghoulam_Algeria_CAN_.jpg
Algeria international left-back Faouzi Ghoulam
Napoli and Algeria defender Faouzi Ghoulam has
been ruled out of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier
in Nigeria after he suffered a groin injury.

Twenty-five-year-old left back Ghoulam has been an injury concern and now it has been
announced he is out of the clash in Uyo and will
not be on the flight to Nigeria on Thursday.

Ghoulam’s withdrawal has made it increasingly
difficult for coach Georges Leekens to line up a
formidable after three top players were also lost to injuries earlier this week.

Midfielders Rachid Ghezzal and Ryad Boudebouz
as well as striker Hilal Soudani opted out of the
World Cup qualifier in Nigeria on account of
injury.

Ghezzal and Boudebouz were examined by Algeria team doctors before they were excused from the training camp, while Dynamo Zagreb striker Soudani did not even fly down to Algiers.

They have since been replaced by Baghdad
Bounedjah, Yassine Benzia and Ismael Bennacer.

EAGLES FIRE BLANKS IN FINAL TRAINING
MATCH IN ABUJA

Alex Iwobi
The probables cancelled out the possibles to a
goalless draw in the Super Eagles final training
Wednesday morning in Abuja ahead of this
weekend’s World Cup clash against Algeria.

The 23-man squad will head out to match venue Uyo later today.

The two-a-side match was very competitive with the likes of Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi catching the eye with their displays, while for the second team goalkeeper Dele Alampasu pulled off several saves.

South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was in goal for the first team and now looks set to be in goal in place of the injured Carl Ikeme on Saturday.

It was a role he played in March against Egypt in Alexandria in a 2017 AFCON qualifier.

Coach Gernot Rohr, who refereed the training
match, showed his hand with his selection of
players for both the first and second teams.
Shehu Abdullahi played at right back, while
Kenneth Omeruo was played at left back ahead of late comer Elderson Echiejile.

The Super Eagles next training session will be
shut to the press and supporters of the national
team, the Nigeria Football Federation have
ordered.

It is believed that Franco-German coach Rohr
plans to use Thursday afternoon’s workout, which begins at 1600 hours, to perfect his strategies for the World Cup qualifier against Algeria, and the media will not be allowed to witness the session unlike what happened on Tuesday on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, Rohr tried out the
starting eleven he has in mind against the North
Africans when they faced the second team in a
practice game which ended goalless.

The Nigerian Federation have compensated the
media, with a press conference scheduled to hold at Le Meridien Hotel, starting from 1200 hours on Thursday.

The 23 players in camp and officials will arrive the Akwa Ibom State capital later today.

Musa Muhammed overlaps, Echiejile isn't at his best, and to make matters worse, Algerian wingers are very good. so good opposition wingers + our weak full backs = many crosses coming into our box. now i trust our central defenders, Balogun and Troost Ekong, but they have a big job on their hands in stopping a Slimani who specializes in scoring with his head.

Therefore, getting a good result may very well depend on our full backs putting in a good performance. *sigh* i wish we had a younger Taiye Taiwo, cost left back is where most of the trouble lies

The fears are genuine. He has empowered white supremacists to be more vocal. Closet racists have come out of their crevices. There will almost certainly be increased attacks on minorities.
the same way closet tribalists came out of their cave after Buhari's win and were preaching a genocide against the Igbo race?

Maybe there will be incidences in redneck populated areas, but just like I said, hardly as bad as most of you are predicting it. Last last, shey you get your Nigerian passport?
