When an international thread goes quiet for almost 2 hours, you're even tempted to troll to spark a conversation grin

@ActivateKruger,have you ever considered maybe Ivan equipment isn't so much 'cheap' but Western stuff is perhaps overpriced? Please breakdown the cost of a Su 30 mk1 compared to your Grip.
Thanks

Western engineers (research, design and and development) are costly because of high competition amongst competing industries BUT it's a case of paying for the best brains.

The fact that Russia can't import and pay for top notch engineers from around the world makes their equipment not better in comparison.

Muammar Gaddafi signed his death warrant by providing about 300 mil to lunch the satellite whilst Big bro France offered us to pay 500 mil per year to lunch. The man did some nasty stuff but he shouln't have been removed at that time. How many military and civilian satellite does African countries have.
Where is the continental gold coin anyway. Gaddafi is a military man I thought he will keep all of them in one place for them to find. How can African countries procure military equipment with whiles keeping in mind how their economy and resources relate to Other economies, question to the guest.

this is what i v tried to explain with my bad english, im ok Nigeria should equip for COIN op but seriously we must rethink our defensiv situation with no SAM, no heavy jets, no big ships like frigates or destroyers or even a Heli Carrier, Nigeria will be in seriouse problems ... We need a new doctrine ! we have to change everything

I think there is a need especially with the Parabats. Thales South Africa's Scorpion system that's in use with the Special Forces in 60mm and 81mm could be a candidate for 120mm. Can see it mounted on a Gecko.
Misusing the Gecko. grin

They need a vehicle similar to the Hornet. Maybe the Pathfinders first.

as you can see in the majority of NAF videos it is always ISR planes that locate boko first, the only reason is endurance a plane like this one can stay more longer in the air, imagine that our ISR planes can fire ... this what gunship are about it is a ISR that fire with a 30 mm with some bombs etc

also neighbouring countries need to have joint defence pacts (to deter future aggression) and also to hold joint military exercises,as we are observing european countries who are members of NATO.conducting joint military exercises due to the threat of unpredictable russia. there is also discussion by European country to build an European army

Firstly all the ISR equipment you speak off have been replace by.....guess what.....guns hence the name gunship.

Secondly Gunships when armed without BVR missiles , rely on visual target acquisition, which means it has to fly really low like....7000ft low, thus if its sunny it would make one massive target. Thus for obvious reasons a isr aircraft can never be a gunship...its basically the opposite of each other.

A Gunship preforms the exact same role as an Attack/ helicopter-gunship....Close Air-support.

Much rather invest in 5 Rooivalk than 1 gunship. Added benefit you could actually use the Rooivalk in day time without being shot down.

Now I'm not saying gunships are not useful...they are in fact awesome pieces of hardware if used correctly, and the amount of lead that could be laid down by one of those beasts like the Ac130 is simply mind boggling ....but are ridiculously expensive, and simply not affordable in Nigeria's case, also when operating them in day time you would also need escorts to protect them!

I think I'll agree with you for the first time.
I thought you said to put rooivalk in production over a dozen of order will be needed.
