Abeg, most of us they hustle come Amelica to study and save enough cash to bring back to Naija. On the average, like how much would an average Nigerian save monthly if the person has funding and does small small work? I know it would vary but it is possible to save and save big Abi?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 10 by OluDare01(m): 8:26pm On Dec 13, 2016
Depends on your stipend, cost of living and spending habit. If you're going to school, I bet you won't have time to hustle; especially grad school.
Time is never gonna be enough

When you said have funding and hustle what do you mean by hustle? You know you cant work offcampus right? But then some people do it and again i wont advice you to, so that you wont end up regretting if you get caught... What works for Taye might not work for Kenny. You can actually save depending on your stipend and living expenses in that state.

So I got my TOEFL result dis morning! Bad thing is I never had the chance to report my scores to the institutions freely as I thought its like GRE where I report my scores after the exams .I d have to fork out $80 which I don't have the luxury of. Now the good side is I got a decent score of 92. Though I don't understand jack about the result interpretation. Summary is how good is TOEFL score of 92 writing 25; listening 23 reading 22 speaking 22 for funding opportunities.

I am sorry about your visa denial but I think you played a huge
part in the unfavorable outcome. Nothing is guaranteed in life but this is what happens
when one does not prepare for important events. You sound quite
ignorant, clueless and utterly desperate. Even if you just want to
enter the country without actually going to school, you need work hard
and ensure you put up a good fight in front of the VO.

Can you turn this whole thing around? Maybe. I will advise that you
learn from this and not just prepare for your next interview but any
other big event in your life. Do not come here and ask silly
questions about basic things that show you did not do any sort of
research. You have the internet, get to work. If you cannot work hard
with little reward, it might be tougher when you eventually move here.
Anyway, take some rest and do not see this as the worst that can happen to
you. Think of worst things: Cancer, jail, MMM crashing and you have your
life savings staked there
. Try to do your homework and see this as a
wake up call. Good luck!
Throwback MMM cheesy cheesy grin grin

Congrats. Toefl only matters for TA. it is the speaking section that matters. most schools have minimum of 22 and some 24. Find out with your school.

Okay, journey of 6 months officially came to an end today at around 7am. God bless the VO that approved my visa. i really dunno where to start from, but anytime i remember how the journey started with Lagosismyhome paying my application fee without collecting a dime, i'm always jolted back to sobriety. I'd drop transcript shortly.
Special shoutout to my virtual family; God's own scholars, especially Prof Charles, Adebimpe (aka Wikipedia), Egbon Kenny of Illinois, and Femi - i swear if this guy na VO, nobody go dey receive visa grin. i also appreciate Pastor Walspring, Texrem, Sureboy grin,Francis, Bobority ... the list is endless mehn.

Mr Spambot, abeg no ban me oo grin

Let me contribute my little cent too,

So i realize some people are still using Weste rUnion to send money home, See, Western union rate is sh!t abeg, when you can send at way higher rate, Without the receiver going to any bank to receive whatsoever.

This is only for people sending money home oo,

1, Download coinbase application on your smart phone, Works on both android and ios.

2. Register, and you are going to now have a bitcoin wallet, Link your bank account or card details,
It takes like an hour or so for the whole verification.

3. After the Verification is done, Click on buy bitcoin
say you want to send 100$ home, you will be charge 4$ or so, processing fee,
And you should now have 100$ worth of bitcoin in you wallet.

4. Now you should have 100$ btc(bitcoin),

go to this thread
hxxttp://www.nairaland.com/3190496/currency-e-currency-market-deals

and post the amount of bitcoin you want to sell,

Like " 100$ available @ 530/$"

becareful on that thread, you can use also Escrow, you can also deal only with only trusted exchanger, like ladyf, Tabbaz, and some few, just use your due diligence.

Current price for selling btc between range of 510/$ to 540/$
check the current selling price to set your own

5. Transfer BTC to exchanger, and exchanger will fund the recipient Naija bank account ASAP.

so imagine you sell the 100$ btc at 530/$
Recipient will get #53,000 in his/her bank account without having to go the bank, you can save your aged parent the stress of bank queue and more money.

now compare to Western Union,

As at today, Western union rate is 375/$,so if are sending 100$ via western union, recipient will only receive #37,500.

Btc(#53,000) - Western union(#37,500) a whole #15,500 margin just for 100$.

This process should take you more than 20 mins, after you verify your bank/card with coin base

and if you don't want to sell your btc on nairaland,

you can sell to httpxxs://instantgold. ng there rate a bit lower though

And if you also don't want to use coinbase, if you want to buy bitcoin with cash

head to httxxps://localbitcoins.c om/ .register an account, you can meet someone selling bitcoin close by you, you pay cash, the person transfer btc to your bitcoin wallet, then you sell, money get transfered to your recipient,SIMPLE!!!

This is CONFIRMED o, not just a theory..

Goodluck and sorry for the long post.

I would be an ingrate not to come back to this page and pay homage to whom it's due. I got confirmed yesterday morning alongside a fellow nairalander, Christian129. Although I have been one of the silent sneak-peakers on this forum. My sincere thanks to all the contributors on the USA Visa Enquiries page especially Lagosismyhome and Walspring for giving me my initial footing when I began the process. Also, my thanks to Texrem for handling my sevis payment. To Sureboy, me dey miss your yarns oooh. Not forgetting the ever vivacious God’s Own Scholars; Christian, Prof Charles, Adebimpe, Kenny and Sughar et al, una too gbasky tongue. These dudes gave me the necessary prep( them tough pass VO sef sha cheesy).

Transcript Loading:

Steps to window 7( no b laptop own oooh grin)

Me: Good morning Ma
VO: With a wide smile on her face ‘Pass me your passport please’
Me: Here it is
VO: Looks at her screen, ‘when did you graduate’?
Me: I graduated in 2010
VO: What have you been doing since then?
Me: I started working right after my mandatory National Youth Service at ****** as a Team Lead and I listed out my job description.
VO: So what next after your degree?
Me: I am coming right back to Nigeria to resume in an elevated status as the Technical Operations Director for my company
VO: Where will you be staying when you get to the US?
Me: The School Dormitory
VO: But schools don’t normally make prior reservations for student’s accommodation
Me: I already discussed that with my school’s immigration assistant(mentioned her name) and she has got me covered. (Actually lied on this count, but that was the best I could do undecided)
VO: Make sure you keep your I-20 safe, you will be needing it at your POE and handed me the white paper. Also, have your US contact’s no on your phone at all times. (Na so I shine my 32 dash her and she reciprocated).

Na so my interview end and I joyfully waka comot d smile like christmas sheep.

Lesson Learnt: Confidence is key!!! Be audible and speak boldly, also maintain eye contact at all times. Lastly, let’s not forget the import of our creator. Always pray for divine favour. Danke!!!
