Good morning everyone
Please I'm in need of advice on what to do. I have been following this thread for a while and did all my research. I had my interview/appointment on Wednesday in Abuja and my visa was denied... Here was how it went ( please pardon the long epistle)
VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning sir
VO: so why are you going to San Antonio
Me: to have my baby (as I applied for the b1/b2 medical visa)
VO: that's good. Is this your first baby
ME: yes it is
VO: congratulations. So what do you do for a living
Me: I work with Bleep as an xxxx
VO: okay. Are you married
Me:yes I am
VO: have you traveled outside Nigeria before
Me: yes I have
VO: where to
Me: I've been to the uk and Dubai.
VO: when was the last time you went to the uk
Me: September last year
At this point he was trying to go through my passport. I guessed it was to search for my uk visa or confirm what I said. So I gave him my old passport where I still had a valid visa. He smiled. Said thank you after going through it and returned it.
VO: so how much will this trip cost you
Me : 9800 dollars
VO: what does that include
Me: hospital, dr and other expenses ( I made a budget sheet but since he didn't request for it I didn't present it to him )
VO: do you have your dr correspondence
Me: yes I do. And I gave him the letter from the dr confirming my appointment for March. And also the hospital letter and corespondence
He looked pleased so far and i was very optimistic
VO: do you have your statement here with you.
Me: I have my husbands own as he is my sponsor ( I already stated this when filling the application form. This is cos dh earns more than me)
VO: he looked at the statement for a while. Then asked me what my husband does
Me: he is a manager at xxxx
(The statement we printed was for the duration of 3months and over the period over 14M had passed through the account and the balance was more than enough for my trip)
Vo: is this his personal account
Me: yes it is
I noticed he was looking at the last page of the statement. Then he asked me why money entered the account last week.
I told him it's his personal account and the money that entered was even the least amount that has passed through the account over the period of 3months
VO: sorry I can't grant ur visa at this time. You can reapply next time

Please mamas and papas, what can I do differently as I'm just confused. I'm due first week of April. Should I apply with hubby and also present my own statement? Should I re apply alone with dh statement and mine?
Should I re apply in Lagos? I really don't know what to do. Please I need advice. Thank you.

Obviously its d bulk inflow...

Me thinks you move the money from Hubby's account to yours. The bulk inflow into ur account from Hubby's is more understandable than bulk inflow into his. I mean he could have borrowed it to boost his acct. And the excuse you gave wasn't tenable.
If it was an Investment liquidation eg liquidating fixed deposit which has been saved up for this purpose, it would have made more sense yer?

Try again alone next time. And use ur bank statement

But will that not raise eye brows( if dh transfers the bulk money to me. Since I'm stating he is my sponsor?
Plus the bulk inflow in hubbys account wasn't even this month. When I got out I noticed the bulk the VO was referring to was even the debit transactions in hubbys account. It wasn't even an inflow. The only money that entered hubby account was just 1m early this month. Evry other money has been there since.

@Esosa I agree with Nef on this. My madam Nef I throway cap on the floor o! grin

However, in addition, you have to go with the statement where the inflow came in from. Shebi its from oga's account?
Or it it was a debit, state that in the reason you were denied 'that the transaction the vo felt was a credit was a debit and bla bla bla'.
God's grace
In my opinion, both of you can still reapply. I believe oga can defend his account better

Okay. I'll do that also. Make the statement 6months and then re apply.
I hope the change of location of which I'll be applying for the visa won't be a problem?

1. I think its the 9,800 dollars that did you in. The cost for childbirth is between 15,000 - 20,000 dollars (insider info).

2. Who was the V.O that interviewed you, was he an elderly man or a younger man? (Want to find out if its the same man, that interviewed my cousin, thanks).

3. I just pray that its not a new policy, to deny B2 Medical visa's for childbirth, if anyone has gotten a visa for childbirth please let us know especially from November to December 2016, thanks)

4. I think you should reapply, but this time let your budget be between 15,000 - 20,000 dollars (for the sake of the interview)

All the best!

1. Apply the advise the guru's have given and;

2. Change your budget to at least 15,000 dollars, and since you are due in April 2017, give it sometime before you apply again and my opinion o, apply in Lagos, so you won't meet that racist old man at Abuja embassy. I.M.H.O

Thats Exactly what i mean, these VO's are totally different the way they see things. I didnt see any mistake she made or any reason for the denial, because everything was going well with the interview before the VO just decided to deny her the Visa. She should still reapply alone and i believe another VO will grant her the Visa.

Dear housemates,
Pls I'm preparing my budget sheet for my interview in January, I used N375/$1. Hope the VO won't raise a query considering the difficulties in getting PTA from the banks nowadays.
I believe the 375 is ok, but what matters most is the weight of your Bank statement, because they dont care how u source your Dollars. So which ever rate u want to use, make sure that your bank statements is very ok with a good inflow/outlow,and an after balance of good amount that can cover what u have on your budget sheet and other expenses also. Goodluck.

I just have this feeling that these visa denials for Childbirth are deliberate. Everything seems okay with your interview (in my opinion). Too many denials recently. Would advice you reapply and pray for God's favour. All the best.

I have that same feeling too. I read an article where V.O's were told not to ask any applicant if they were pregnant or if they were going to give birth in the US but that was in 2011. (I will get the link and post it here). The denials could be in preparation for a change in the childbirth laws aka Trump Effect. I.M.H.O

here's the link, its a 2011 article. http://cis.org/node/2802

How come i'm no longer seeing people using Doctoresparati in Elpaso. I noticed from part 2 people were really patronizing the hospital but in part 5, its quite different...

pls note i wasn't able to go through the whole 5 parts, it's really really long and i discovered it late.

This morning feels different. One huddle crossed. Thank God for grace and favour.

Thank God for an interactive session and discussion forum like this that gets one prepared to a very large extent

I was at the consolate with my DW and my first daughter (20months old) yesterday, wednesday 30th, 2016. After the long 1hr 30 minutes screening process with a large crowd ( i wondered if this dollar increase dey affect everybody self), we final got to the VO

VO: can i see a Statement of account
DH: (Handing over the bank Statement) that's 18 months statement of account madam
VO: (she smiled). okay
After Checking through
VO: i will be giving you the visa but will advice that you go along with these same documents you have brought here today and be straight about your reason just the way you are today
DH: Thank you.
VO: (she handed me all my documents including the white paper) Pick up your passport in PH in 4 business days
DH: ok (this relieve just came). Thank you
VO: you are welcome, do have a nice day
Daughter: Bye bye
VO: Bye (to daughter with the best smile so far)

that was our story. i had to come back here to do this as i learnt from other people interview and process.

Next step is to look for flight as we are planning to leave in mid January. we are planning air france. Please any advice for or against air france.

Thank you all

Congrats on your visa issuance. Please I have an interview for early January, if you don't mind me asking was your account balance over 6M or less? Just tryna figure out their expectation with this dollar rates.
Will await your response.
Tnx
