Injury Prone Ikeme Could Force Rohr To Hasten Talks With Enyeama

The injury battles of goalkeeper of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Carl Ikeme who is currently our injured for the third time this season, could force coach Gernot Rohr to hasten talks with erstwhile goalkeeper and captain Vincent Enyeama.

Rohr was forced into a mini crises when the shot stopper pulled out of Nigeria’s last World Cup qualifiers against Algeria, forcing the coach to settle for Daniel Akpeyi who was originally not called up for the tie.

The coach in a bid to control such situation in the future could hasten talks with Lille shot stopper Vincent Enyeama whose fitness, experience and abilities between the stick can be vouched for.

Enyeama retired from the Nigeria national team after an argument with former coach Sunday Oliseh but Rohr has longed stressed his willingness to have him back in the team.

As a matter of fact, he confirmed he will hold further meeting with the 34 year old during his pre match conference before Nigeria defeated Algeria 3-1 in Uyo in the race to be at the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

List Of Players Who Are Clubless Despite Representing Nigeria At Rio 2016 Olympics

As the January transfer window draws near, Owngoalnigeria.com has put together a list of Nigerian players who represented the country at the Rio 2016 Olympics but are presently clubless.

Sincere Seth – His case is the most bewildering of all on the list as he was ever present for Nigeria at the Olympics alongside William Troost Ekong in the heart of the Nigerian defence that won bronze in Rio. Last time he was linked with a club was few months ago, when he reportedly turned up at the camp of Shooting Stars of Ibadan.

Usman Muhammed – A proposed move to Portuguese side Uniao da Madeira broke down after the Olympics, and since then the hard working midfield enforcer has been clubless. The former FC Taraba star is reportedly on the January wishlist of some teams in Slovenia and Cyprus when the transfer window opens.

Saturday Keigo Erimuya – He is close to leaving the list after passing his trials with Spanish second division side Cadiz, Erimuya played just a game for Nigeria at the Olympics, but the former Turkey based defender is highly rated by his teammates and close associates especially for his pace, marking abilities and strength in aerial duels.

Mikel Deserves Better Treatment From Chelsea – Ex Chelsea Ace

Former Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro says John Obi Mikel deserves better treatment that what he is currently receiving at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel is in his 11th season at Stamford Bridge but new manager Antonio Conte has no place for him in his team, who are currently leading the pile in the English Premier League.

Babayaro believes for his long term service to the team, he deserves better treatment than been frozen out of the first team set up entirely.”

I hate to see this but it’s not fair. He deserves better if not for anything for his commitment to the team in past season past. I can’t understand why he is not been played even in cup games”, Babayaro told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He is a club legend, how many players have stayed that long at Chelsea?, it’s unfair to freeze out a legend like that, at least a chance to bid thefans farewell won’t be too bad an idea even if he is not needed”.

Simon Moses & Ahmed Musa In Danger Of Losing Super Eagles Spot To Kayode & Nwakaeme Over Inconsistency

Reports gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com has it that coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is unhappy over the form of Moses Simon and Ahmed Musa for their respective teams.

Rohr’s aim is to bring competition to the Super Eagles by inviting only players in top form, which could spell doom for players who are struggling to make hay with their teams.

Simon has been having an inconsistent season for Belgian side Gent, where he has just three goals from 16 games this season in Belgium, although he has already equaled his last season goal haul, his performances have not been the best.

On his part Ahmed Musa is yet to fulfill settle down to life with English Premier League side Leicester City, with the 24 year old struggling to command a regular spot in Claudio Ranieri’s team, no thanks to his two goals from 12 league games so far.

Their form which is in contrast to that of Anthony Nwakaeme of Hapoel Beer Sheva and Olarenwaju Kayode of Austria Vienna could see them lose their spot to the in-form duo.

Arsenal Is A Good Team For Young Players But Wolfsburg Is The Best Club For Me – Osimhen Reveals Arsenal Snub

Young Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has revealed he chose German side Wolfsburg over the chance to compete in the Premier League with Arsenal.

Osimhen starred at the under-17 World Cup in October 2015, scoring 10 goals to help Nigeria win a record fifth title.

The striker, who turns 18 in December, was reportedly wanted by Arsenal, Tottenham and Anderlecht but his family and representatives settled for the German outfit.

“It’s true that a big team like Arsenal wanted me and I feel honoured to be invited over. But personally I feel Wolfsburg is a ladder for me to reach my professional goals,” Osimhen told BBC Sport.

"Yes Arsenal is a good team for young players but Wolfsburg is the best club for me.

“This the best place for me to learn and develop because my heart is here with Wolfsburg.

"The club’s plan for my career is very encouraging and I believe with God on my side I can grow to become one of the best players in the world,” he added.

Under Fifa regulations Osimhen cannot sign a professional contract until he turns 18, on 29 December 2016. But Wolfsburg have announced a deal to sign the striker on 1 January 2017.

The proposed transfer follows a co-operation agreement between Wolfsburg and Lagos-based Ultimate Strikers Academy, where Osimhen is based.

Under the co-operation agreement between the clubs, Osimhen has visited Wolfsburg and will continue to train with the club as their guest.

The gangly striker, who idolises former Ivory Coast and Chelsea forward Didier Drogba, said: “I have my father [Patrick Osimhen] and brother [Andrew] with me here in Germany to guide me in the right path.

“The academy has also benefited and I am happy that the partnership will also encourage other young players from our academy to work harder.

"This is a big step for my football, family and the academy. All I can do now is to continue to work hard as a footballer.”

His 10 goals in Chile, where he also emerged as the Golden Boot and Silver Ball winner, eclipsed the previous best of nine set by Ivorian Souleymane Coulibaly in 2011 and Florent Sinama Pongolle of France in 2001.

Osimhen was also part of the Nigeria side that won the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal in November, which also qualified them for the Rio Olympics next year.

He was named the 2015 Confederation of African Football (Caf) Youth Player of the Year atthe award ceremony in Abuja on 7 January.

OBSCURITY TO PROSPERITY – English Writer Likens Victor Moses Rise To That Of Vardy And Mahrez

This season we have seen the unexpected return to form of Victor Moses. He has excelled as a right wing-back, as opposed to his former role of right wing, in Antonio Conte’s very successful new 3-4-3 system. With the reliable and disciplined Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante happy to fill in when Moses propels himself down the wing, there is a new fluidity and freedom to his game. Before this season he had not played for Chelsea for more than three years and had endured unsatisfying loan spells at West Ham, Stoke and Liverpool. Now a fairly integral player in a side at the top of the Premier League, Victor Moses’ return has been fairly remarkable.

However, Victor Moses is not alone in this category of players who have moved from the periphery to the limelight. Riyad Mahrez also fits the bill. Before signing for Leicester City in January 2014 for a mere £400,000, the Algerian international had been struggling to stay afloat in France's Ligue 2. His former coach, Erick Mombaerts, said it was hard to persuade the club that playing Mahrez in the first team was the right decision. His tribulations at Le Havre must seem like a distant memory. Now worth £35 million, playing regular Champions League football and PFA player of the Year 2015-16, Leicester are having fight off interest from the so-called ‘bigger clubs’. A dramatic transition indeed.

Another player who must be considered in this category is Mahrez’s teammate, Jamie Vardy. Again, before quite spectacularly finding his feet at Leicester, Vardy had been playing for non-League Fleetwood Town. Signing for what now seems like a bargain of £1 million, also a non-League record fee, Vardy arrived at Leicester in the 2012-13 season. However, it was his 24 goals in the 2015-16 season that got the whole world watching. His goals were a crucial contribution to a quite unbelievable title winning season.

For that season he was rightly named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Season and fittingly was selected in the PFA Team of the Year. Now worth £25 million and, like Mahrez, about to play in the Champions League last 16, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich amongst the possible opponents, the name Jamie Vardy now holds legendary status. A quite remarkable change of fortunes.

SOMETIMES THE PATTERN CAN BE REVERSED

However, sometimes the pattern can be reversed. This certainly has been the case for Bojan Krkic.

After progressing through the ranks of Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia academy, there was a lot of hype surrounding the youngster. He received his debut at just 17 years and 19 days.

Yet Bojan found it hard to live up to the reputation he had acquired. He was never quite as prolific as some had hoped and he endured several moves around Europe until he found his feet again at Stoke City. In Mark Hughes’ new-look team, Bojan excelled and quickly became a fan favourite. He will be one to watch this season.

So, with Moses finally emerging from the wilderness, Riyad Mahrez appearing out of the depths of Algeria, Jamie Vardy going from non-League to Champions League and Bojan going from Barcelona’s prodigal son to Stoke City star it is important never to write off a footballer; it could come back to haunt you.

So he is a City fan bc of Pep?
Meaning he became a City fan after Pep moved to City?

Who joined City before each other, Iheanacho or Pep?

I started supporting City in 2010 before Aguero, Silva, Yaya Toure joined City. Back then we had Jo, Bellamy, Adebayo, Petrov, Tevez and others. Talking Pep And Iheanacho is far from when I started Supporting City.

safarigirl knew me as a City fan long before Iheanacho joined Manchester City.

Just like Now, I believed Iheanacho's education was more important than playing time. When he is up there, he will get playing time.

AFNigeriaSerie A 2016/2017Nigeria - WomenEagles star Ogenyi Onazi donates a million Naira to Falcons

Ogenyi Onazi in the background in action for Nigeria vs Algeria recently.

Super Eagles star Ogenyi Onazi has thrown his weight behind protesting African champions Super Falcons by donating a million Naira to them.

A source close to the team revealed the Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder showed concern about the ladies plight.

"Onazi is a fantastic man and supported the Falcons with the sum of one million Naira, that really helped the ladies, a source reported.

He also gave one of the injured players 200,000 Naira for her treatment. He is a wonderful guy.

I was aware some of the girls called him to complain about their plight and he helped them. "The Falcons have embarked on a sit-in protest at their Abuja hotel and also staged a protest March demanding for their entitlements to be paid.

Several former Nigeria stars including Garba Lawal, Joseph Yobo and Nwankwo Kanu have equally spoken against the shabby treatment the Falcons have been subjected to since they won a record eighth women's AFCON in Cameroon.

Sir Icon4s, you can choose to deny it or accept it.... smiley

Kelechi Iheanacho is one of the major leaders and driving forces of the new generation and it has nothing to do with his move to man city. He moved there because he was top-quality for a youngster after his UAE 2013 exploits... Not his fault.

Show me a player in U-17 history with Nacho's stats at that Level at the U-17 WC.

Who says he's the only promising player we got?? We're blessed with so many but in every generation, there are leaders and stand-outs.... And right now, Iheanacho leads the way alongside Iwobi...... Same way Kanu and Okocha got all the spotlight in the first golden era even ahead of top players like Oliseh, finidi, amuneke, Yekini, Ikpeba et al.

This is the way things are. It's not his fault. Leave club allegiances aside.... It's obvious Iheanacho is a key force in this rising generation.

So it's not about love for others above others. Personally, I talk about a lot of players and treat them specially.

The truth remains in every generation, there are a few called "the brightest of the lot."

And about theGoodJoe and Man City, come on Sir Icons! You of all people should know He started supporting City long before Manuel Pellegrini even showed up. Na wa ooo... If I know that, so should you... He's said so a few times in past threads. So tying his love for City to Iheanacho and Pep is not correct at all.

And lemme end with this, "some peeps here are very confident that kelechi Iheanacho would become a world beater".......... ARE YOU CONFIDENT HE WON'T??

I REMEMBER YOUR ARGUMENTS IN THE U-23 THREAD OF HIM BEING "NOT THERE YET" WITH RESPECT TO THE SUPER EAGLES AND YOU CALLING HIM "AN AVERAGE TALENT" EVEN CITING YOUR QUESTION TO EGUAVOEN WHO TERMED HIM, "just a good player nothing special"...... And I'm sure that made your day. smiley

Times have passed quickly and Nacho have gone to shame your "not there yet" comments. He's been one of the best players for the Eagles in recent matches and also top scorer for the team. He didn't even take long to settle in. He scored in his third cap off the bench and have been scoring ever since. Before the third cap, he had just one start vs Egypt where his effort saw etebo pounce for that goal.

Iheanacho shattered the "needs time to adjust" and "not there yet" anthems you sang back then. Can't you at least give the lad some credit?

I believe in looking at an issue wholistically. Iheanacho IS NOT THE ONLY PROMISING SUPER TALENT WE HAVE. We also have Ndidi, Iwobi, Simon Moses, Isaac Success, and many more....

...... But fact is this: HE IS AMONG THE VERY BRIGHTEST OF THE LOT. Simple and short. smiley

Icon4s:

The thing is some peeps here are very confident that Kelechi Iheanacho would become a 'world beater'. They call it "The Nacho Project". They have become so committed to believing in that project that they would always comment and make defense for anything that has to do with Iheanacho.

They have made it seem as if Iheanacho is the only promising talent we have in Nigeria.

Well, undecided it is only natural for people to love a player more than others. They just love Iheanacho more than the other Super Eagles players. And that is just it.

modified: I wonder if some1 like TheGoodJoe would still be a City fan if "Nacho" moves to another club.

Just reminds me of my Love for Kanu Nwankwo. I could not bare not supporting Kanu in any game he played. So when he went to Arsenal I became an Arsenal fan. He left Arsenal to Westbrom but common I cannot be a Westbrom fan na. So I stayed put with Arsenal till date. wink

Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles have crashed out of the ongoing African Beach Soccer tournament, losing 3-1 to West Africa rival, Cote d’Ivoire after the game ended 4-4 at regulation time.

Cote d’Ivoire scored first in the first quarter, Nigeria equalized few minutes after. The Ivorian team scored again in the second quarter, while Victor Tale rallied to level scores for Nigeria towards the last minute of the second quarter.

As usual, Cote d’Ivoire scored again to restore their lead, but Abu Azeez responded with a powerful strike to put Nigeria on level terms. It was a moment of relief as Nigeria for the first time in the game confirmed supremacy by scoring their fourth goal.

The celebration was short-lived as Cote d’Ivoire came from behind to score the equalizer as the game ended 4-4 at regulation time. But soon after, the game entered into the penalty shoot-out and Cote d’Ivoire scored their first kick. Nigeria couldn’t make use of the advantage, losing their own first penalty kick.

The penalty shoot-out ended 3-1 in favour of the Ivorians and the Sand Eagles fans were left disappointed after the team lost the opportunity to advance to the next stage and would not be among countries representing Africa at the 2017 FIFA Beach World Cup in Seychelles.

Everton plan £11m move for Lookman
Biyi Akangbe

English Premier League side, Everton are reportedly readying a £11m transfer fee for English-born Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman.

It is believed that the Toffees are in pole position for Lookman who presently stars for Charlton Athletic.

The 19-year old is seen as a perfect replacement for Yannick Bolasie who's knee ligament injury has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

As reported in the Independent, the only remaining sticking point is that Charlton want Lookman loaned back for the secondhalf of the season, while Everton want to bring him straight into their first team group.

The two sides are in negotiations and are likely to settle on a fee close to £8m with another £3m in potential add-ons.

Though he has starred for the England Youth teams, Lookman remains eligible to turn up for Nigeria at the senior level if he so decides like the likes of Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Shola Ameobi among others.

Two Chinese clubs bid for Chelsea midfielder

John Obi Mikel could follow team-mate Oscar to China in the January transfer window as two Chinese clubs have reportedly made moves for the out of favor Chelsea man, according to SunSports.

The Nigerian super star has failed to make an impact for the Stamford Bridge club this season since the arrival of new manager Antonio Conte and with his contract running up in the Summer, Mikel is believed to be considering taking the plunge into the Far East following offers from two undisclosed Chinese Super League sides.

Conte's side are yet to offer their long serving midfielder who has been at Stamford Bridge since 2006 a new deal, with his current deal set to expire after this season.

During his spell at the club, Mikel has goneon to make 374 appearance for the West London side, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cup’s, two League Cup’s, the Europa League and the Champions League.

Antonio Conte has revealed he has no plans to let the 2016 Olympic bronze medallist leave in January, but has conceded that a new deal is unlikely.

NFF thank Presidency over payment of Falcons' entitlements
Biyi Akangbe

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for directing that players and officials of African champions, Super Falcons be paid in less than 48 hours, following the team’s protest at the Three Arms Zone on Wednesday.

The Falcons protested their unpaid allowances and bonuses of the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) tournament at the National Assembly complex on Wednesday in Abuja, which immediately called the attention of both the Presidency and the law makers.

“We are grateful to the Presidency for the prompt action, and we believe this will put the minds of theplayers at rest. It has been a very difficult time for the NFF; no official of the Federation was happy that the players and officials could not be paid their entitlements immediately after the tournament.

“It is not as if the Federation did not plan to pay theplayers and officials their entitlements. The NFF expected some money from a number of sources but this did not work out. They are champions and deserve to be treated as such; there are no doubts about that,” Ademola Olajire, NFF’s Director of Media and Communications, said on Thursday.

Olajire also stated that there was no time the NFF directed that the players should be ejected from their Agura Hotel, and decried claims that no official went to see the players at the hotel.

“The NFF is at the receiving end of all these, but at the end of the day, fair is fair. Before they left for Cameroon, the country’s Vice President went to meet with them at a training session.

“Also, despite the difficulties, the Federation was able to make the sum of $5,000 available to the Team Administrator for logistics.

The NFF President personally visited the team and prayed with them. Before the team played South Africa in the semi finals, the NFF reached out to some sources and raised money to pay each player the sum of N500,000.

“The NFF President was on the tarmac of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos to receive the team and celebrated with them on arrival, impressed it on NFF partner Emzor to host the ladies to lunch and the company gave the team the sum of N1.6 million.

“On arrival in Abuja, the team was received by the NFF General Secretary, Head of Protocol, Head of Women’s Football and the CEO of Jedo (a private organization), Dr. Aliyu Oroje Wammako. The NFF impressed it on the management of Agura Hotel toensure the comfort of the players and officials while the Federation went about trying to raise money to pay their entitlements.”

The NFF spokesman explained that apart from the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Barr. Solomon Dalung who personally visited the team at their hotel, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi was at the hotel on two occasions and the Head of Women’s Football, Miss Ruth David has been at the hotel on regular basis.

"After his visit, the Honourable Minister directed that the NFF should look for money to give to the players to take them home.

The players appealed that the amount of N50,000 proposed by the Federation should be doubled, and the NFF squeezed out N100,000 to each player and official. Surprisingly, the players said they would no longer leave the hotel even after that payment.

“While the monies paid to the team so far may not amount to much, these are challenging times and we expect the players to understand with the Federation.

They did not, but we thank God all these issues are almost behind us.
“This unfortunate situation calls for calm and patience on the part of all. The NFF cannot praise the Presidency enough. The players cannot say that nobody came to see them in the hotel, or that the Federation ordered that they be ejected; that is not correct.

“We passionately appeal to the players not to allow themselves to be used by some persons against the Federation and the Federal Government, as such persons do not mean well for them and their career.”

European clubs kick against World Cup expansion

Europe’s powerful football clubs have told soccer governing body FIFA that they are opposed to plans to expand the World Cup from its current 32 teams.

Gianni Infantino, the President of the FIFA Council, has said he wants to increase the quadrennial tournament to 48 teams from 2026 and the FIFA Council is expected to reach a decision at its next meeting in January.

However, the European Club Association (ECA), itself criticised recently, over recent changes to the Champions League, said it was against any expansion.

“The number of games being played throughout the year has already reached an unacceptable level, in particular for national team players,’’ said an ECA statement.

“The ECA Executive Board therefore rejects such initiative and has today sent a letter to Gianni Infantino calling on FIFA not to increase the number of participants at future World Cups.’’

ECA chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: “We have to focus on the sport again. Politics and commerce should not be the exclusive priority in football.

“In the interest of the fans and the players, we urge FIFA not to increase the number of World Cup participants’’.

The ECA represents more than 200 clubs across the continent though it is dominated by the big clubs who have greater voting rights within the organisation than their smaller counterparts.

Earlier this year, the ECA supported controversial changes to the Champions League club competition which critics said put finance before football.

UEFA rearranged the group-stage slots in favour of its four top-ranked leagues — Spain, England, Germany and Italy — by guaranteeing them four places each.

Places for the winners of the 11th and 12th ranked leagues were cut and the number of places reserved for teams from the remaining leagues, who play their way through a qualifying competition, was reduced from five to four.

UEFA’s decision to create a subsidiary to manage its European club competitions also raised fears that power was being handed over to the big clubs.

According to UEFA, the subsidiary will have an equal number of managing directors from UEFA and ECA, who each appoint half of the senior representatives on the board of the company.

The FIFA Council will consider four possible formats for the World Cup when it meets in January.

The first possibility is to keep the current 32-team format with eight groups of four followed by a knockout contest.

A second option will be for a 40-team tournament with either eight groups of five or 10 groups of four.

The third choice is for a 48-team tournament consisting of a preliminary round of 16 knockout ties with the winners joining 16 more teams in a 32-team group stage.

The fourth proposal, currently favoured by Infantino, is for 48 teams divided into 16 groups of three.

Amidst Super Falcons woes NFF to spend N50m on AGA

Despite grumbles from some quarters of the ill-treatment meted to the Super Falcons by the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF who despite owing the players and officials still went on to charter a flight to watch the final of the Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroon, the NFF is still engaged in wasteful spending.

According to Vanguard, the leadership of the NFF is going ahead to squander over N50 million to host its Annual General Assembly, AGA this weekend at the Best Western Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos without the approval of the Board of the federation.

It was gathered that some Board members are not happy that at a time the NFF is being portrayed in bad light before Nigerians with the disgraceful protests carried out by the Super Falcons over their unpaid allowances, the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick could want to host an AGA.

A source close to the NFF told Vanguard that “members of the Board are not happy with Pinnick because they feel he is running a one man show. He doesn’t seek approval from members before embarking on programmes.

“The AGA will cost the federation over N50 million. Even if the money is sourced from other avenues, the Board still needs to approve it. Why can’t the federation use that money to pay part of the allowances of the protesting Falcons.”

The source added that “over 100 participants are expected to attend the AGA. This include 37 Chairmen of state Football Associations and the same number of secretaries, chairmen of affiliate bodies like the referees and coaches association, 12 members of the Executive Committee, secretariat staff of the NFF and about 20 other invited guests and stakeholders.”

"We are recovering the ball very fast and that is really important. You have to work on it as a team. There is no such thing as pressing on your own. Conte has a system, a lot of work goes on in the training grounds to perfect that system/style of play.

Wenger has a system, a lot of work goes on in the training grounds to perfect that system/style of play.

Every manager has their own training ground routine.

Playing time is critical to development fot young players . Clubs understand this and that is why youths are often loaned out

Nigeria’s Victor Moses has successfully been
reinvented by Chelsea’s Antonio Conte

There have been no major surprises in terms of
clubs significantly outperforming expectations in
the first half of the 2016/17 campaign, but Victor Moses is the undisputed winner of the equivalent award for Premier League players.

The Nigeria international probably expected to
depart Stamford Bridge in the summer, having
failed to make a single top-flight appearance for
Chelsea since May 2013.

Loans at Stoke City, Liverpool and West Ham
United brought mixed success, but most would
have agreed that Moses had not done enough in
temporary spells elsewhere to earn a place in
Antonio Conte’s plans.

The former Juventus manager insisted on making up his own mind, however, and subsequent events would suggest he liked what he saw.

Moses impressed his new boss with his work ethic and willingness to learn, which led to a place on the substitutes’ bench for the campaign curtain-raiser against West Ham.

Nevertheless, there still did not appear to be a
role for Moses in Conte’s 4-1-4-1 formation, with
the winger seemingly considered fourth choice in the fight for the two available attacking spots on the flanks.

All of that changed when Chelsea switched to a
3-4-3 setup midway through September’s 3-0
loss to Arsenal. A clean sheet in the second half of that contest convinced Conte to stick with the new configuration for the following week’s trip to Hull City, and Moses has kept his place at right wing-back ever since.

The ex-Crystal Palace man – he will face his former employers when Chelsea travel across London to Selhurst Park on Saturday – has thrived, producing a number of man-of-the-match displays during his team’s rise to the summit of the standings.

Just when his career at Stamford Bridge appeared to be over, Moses has established himself as a key figure in Chelsea’s title tilt.

Simple and short. smiley

Firstly, I never said Iheanacho is an average talent. How could I have ever said that? My point then was I have seen so many promising talents come and go and so was not as excited as u guys are about Iheanacho.

My 'he is not there yet' phrase about Kelechi Iheanacho still stands! It simply means I am expecting him to improve more from where he is. Or do you think he has gotten to his pinnacle? Is he there yet?

I am glad you said he started scoring from his third game. Many thought he would 'Messi' around the whole pitch right from the word go. And just like every player he settled down with time although faster than most players would do. Which is a reflection of his immense talent. Recall I have always maintained that young attackers/forwards settle-down faster in national teams than defenders.

My recent discussion about Iheanacho and TheGoodJoe arose as some forumites here have commented that Iheanacho seems to be the mostly talked about player on this thread.

I dnt know when TheGoodJoe started being a Mancity fan but we obviously know here that his love for "Nacho" and "Pep" is second to none.
Recall I also said it is normal for people to like certain players more than others. I even went ahead to cite how my love for Kanu Nwankwo took me to Arsenal.

I am not castigating anybody for the love of any club, coach or player. That is his choice.

Looolllll... Actually you cannot blame Sir Icon4s... I perfectly understand him here. smiley

He's seen so much "real-deal" talents fail to translate their potentials to the national side thus his scepticism for the new rising stars of today. The only way to convince him is for them to consistently produce super and world class performances and win laurels all in the green-white-green..... Looolllll

The generation of Yakubu, Martins, Utaka, Ordiah, Ikechukwu Uche et al comes to mind. They wobbled and fumbled when it mattered most. sad

Even Etim Esin and Philip Osondu come to mind. sad

You are even going far. No be so we watch Anthony Ujah and Joseph Akpala grin youtube highlights finish but at last... undecided
This Onyekuru wey una don dey call "Messi-like" wetin, ok o. I am not as excited as u guys are about him. We invite him to the national team first and then we can size him better.

Their form which is in contrast to that of Anthony Nwakaeme of Hapoel Beer Sheva and Olarenwaju Kayode of Austria Vienna could see them lose their spot to the in-form duo.

http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/12/15/simon-moses-ahmed-musa-in-danger-of-losing-super-eagles-spot-to-kayode-nwakaeme-over-inconsistency/

Kayode I know.

But that Nwakaeme wey dey for Isreali league? undecided Because he scored from the penalty spot in the Europa league? undecided

Besides, these are Centre forwards, and Musa and Simon are wingers.

Let Rohr solve our main striker problem first. We dnt have problems with our wingers.

That aside, I doubt Kayode can displace Musa or Simon if played from the wings position. As for Nwakaeme, let us see him more in action first.
