One of the most controversial Discuss in Christedom... I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ -Christain- and I took it upon myself to go deeper into the scriptures...with the help of the Holy Spirit and other Men of God...i got my answers about Tithing Going Through the life of Jesus in the Four gospels...our saviour of the World didn't directly mentioned tithe. I saw emphasis of giving in Matthew 22:21 ...give unto ceasar what belongs to caesar, and unto God what belongs to God The best interpretation to the above statement made by our Lord Jesus Christ is from your income pay your tax to ur government and Give God. So how do you to give God? first things First is to know as a believer God is the source of all the good in ur Life....and we are just STEWARDs of his blessings. with this philosophy in mind, tithing shouldn't be a problem. Our giving to the furtherance of the Gospel of GRACE shouldn't be defined by 10%...rather our all and all -mind, finance, intellect, gift- Remember "Where your treasure is there your heart will be" Matthew 6:21 I know Some men of God who don't believe in the popular doctrine of TITHING and the motive behind its emphasis in Christendom. 1 Like |

myaokija: Absolutely True Also it's not a wise prayer in this era of GRACE to remind God to bless one because of your giving, irrespective of how bountiful one gave... Rather "ask and it shall be given onto you..." also James4:2 ...you have not because you ask not. 2 Likes |

0neal: The problem parse is not just tithe, it is the philoosphy of the only way to receive blessings is through funding the church and the pastor. It is flawed Christian or even religious wise because it negates the issue that if you pay 10% to the church and the pastor receives 10% you are both rich or going to be richer and the poor, neighbor/country are meaningless in the equation. Even in the original Jewish laws there was a tithe for the poor. In addition, it negates the idea that greed could play a further role, how much do they need to survive and how much do the society need to survive, do they need an extra plane or does Otta need an extra road |

Nigerians are too docile. Even the supposed educated still allow themselves to be hoodwinked by pastors and street touts. Nigerian Christians undoubtedly believe in Pastors and not God the Almighty. 'My Pastor said' is their consolations. God now plays the second fiddle to their pastors. Am not even surprised the pastor made such a blasphemous statement and members nodded in approval - just what most Nigerians yearn to hear SMH... 1 Like 1 Share |

EmmzyWhite: Not seeing the end of the year might not be a terrible thing as you and your accidental pastors make it look. If heaven is the end game why do y'all body language suggest riches on earth is the highest form of happiness a christian can achieve? Now, if you reason as a Christian that not making it to see the end of the year is bad, why wish it on people? 1 Like |

Question: "What does the
Bible say about Christian
tithing? Should a Christian
tithe?"
Answer: Many Christians
struggle with the issue of
tithing. In some churches giving
is over-emphasized. At the same
time, many Christians refuse to
submit to the biblical
exhortations about making
offerings to the Lord. Tithing/
giving is intended to be a joy
and a blessing. Sadly, that is
sometimes not the case in the
church today.
Tithing is an Old Testament
concept. The tithe was a
requirement of the Law in
which the Israelites were to
give 10 percent of the crops
they grew and the livestock
they raised to the tabernacle/
temple (Leviticus 27:30;
Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy
14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). In fact,
the Old Testament Law required
multiple tithes—one for the
Levites, one for the use of the
temple and the feasts, and one
for the poor of the land—which
would have pushed the total to
around 23.3 percent. Some
understand the Old Testament
tithe as a method of taxation to
provide for the needs of the
priests and Levites in the
sacrificial system.
After the death of Jesus Christ
fulfilled the Law, the New
Testament nowhere commands,
or even recommends, that
Christians submit to a legalistic
tithe system. The New
Testament nowhere designates
a percentage of income a person
should set aside, but only says
gifts should be “in keeping with
income” ( 1 Corinthians 16:2).
Some in the Christian church
have taken the 10 percent
figure from the Old Testament
tithe and applied it as a
“recommended minimum” for
Christians in their giving.
The New Testament talks about
the importance and benefits of
giving. We are to give as we are
able. Sometimes that means
giving more than 10 percent;
sometimes that may mean
giving less. It all depends on the
ability of the Christian and the
needs of the body of Christ.
Every Christian should diligently
pray and seek God’s wisdom in
the matter of participating in
tithing and/or how much to
give ( James 1:5). Above all, all
tithes and offerings should be
given with pure motives and an
attitude of worship to God and
service to the body of Christ.
“Each man should give what he
has decided in his heart to give,
not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a
cheerful giver” ( 2 Corinthians
9:7). 2 Likes |

Great6Pack: Are you aware that Winners chapel has been tithing as a church since 1987 (I.e taking 10℅ of what comes in as a church out to where it belongs) No wonder the church is among the richest in world, the church just acquired a multi million dollar church customised bible printing plant, the first in Africa. This is happening in a time the the economy is supposed to be facing recession. Bishop Oyedepo is the pioneer of that revelation as found in scriptures, according to Bishop when he found it in scriptures that organizations can tithe and come under an open heaven he rushed to his mentor and shared what he found in 1987( that is church tithing to another Church). Other churches follow same and are in the tithing covenant. I believe in the tithing covenant based on my convictions as found from scriptures. I found out it pays to tithe and it's costly to eat that 10℅ that belong to God out of greed. The returns is more than money or what money can't buy. Abraham tithed, Jacob tithed, (Jesus came and validated tithing-Lk 11:42) so I would be stupid to think tithe is not important. As a Christian, tithing is your number 1 giving, then others can follow, like giving to the poor, giving worship offering, giving to men of God, giving sacrifices, giving to parents. 1 Like 1 Share |

People leading people astray. Any pastor that collects tithes is a criminal. Jesus Christ and his apostles never preached or Tithe. In fact, Jesus condemned the tither in several occasion luke 14 vs 42 and mat 23 vs 23. Tithing as it where is an old law and we are not under the law Galatians 5 vs 18. Tithing is a law to favour the tribe of levi which did not get any inheritance cos they serve in the temple Deut. 14 vs 27 to 29. More so, Jesus who is our new high priest is not from that tribe, so the law has changed since we have a change in priesthood Hebrew 7 vs 12 to 14. Jesus has offered sacrificed one and for all Hebrew 7 vs 27 and Hebrew 10 vs1 to 18. Abraham and Jacob paid tithe only once out of their own freewill to fulfil their personal covenant with God. If tithing is part of ur personal covenant with your God, I am not against it, go ahead but any pastor that ask you to bring you tithe to guarantee God's blessing is a thief. 2 Likes 1 Share

sekundosekundo: Yeah, But no Imam will tell you "only fefol who give tites" are qualified to receive blessings". Islam does not force anybody body to give tithes. you are only supposed to give others help only if your own family is well fed & cared for. Blessings can also be earned in diffrent ways e.g even smiling to ur brethren, helping the blind cross the roads etc. NO BE MONEY dat is required |

Deuteronomy 14:22-29New International Version (NIV) Tithes 22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice. 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own. 28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 1 Like |
