Oyedepo has said time and again that his church pays tithes to Redeemed Church, Pastor Adeboye. Oyedepo personally would pay his own tithe to his church, Winners and the entire church's tithe to another ministry, in this case, RCCG.

However tithing is not required in the new testament, as we are under grace and not under the law.

No one can be a doer of God's will without been blessed. If you are doubting the preacher, read Malachi chapter 8 vs 1 down. Stolen money or money gotten in an evil way eg, prostitution, armed robbery, kidnapping, gambling, fraud etc are not allowed but if the person gives such money to the church, h/she is on their own.

To start with that is if the end of the year or its beginning is in your hands.

My own Father is in Heaven and is greater than any father on earth and he owns the ages past and that to come. When the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed. He causes His rain and sun to fall and shine on the wicked and righteous alike. The woman with the issue of blood said to herself "if I can only touch the tip of his (Jesus) cloths, l will be made well" and that's what happened she didn't have to pay tithes to Jesus first.

Before you can even have something to tithe, God has to bless and prosper you. By tithing you are only being taught to thank God for everything you have because when you had nothing to give He gave and provided for you not that your tithe will make Him bless you. Now all those lessons found fulfilment in Jesus's sacrifice, what we now owe God is labour of love for one another; do you see a sick person around you care for them, a person without cloth share yours with him, someone hungry, give them food by so doing God will pay you back a hundred folds.

Finally God did not command His children to curse anyone which is the direct opposite of loving or caring for one another thats why He said any curse that is pronounced will return to the head of him that pronounced it. What will you and your father in the lord gain with the death of anyone simply because they quoted you to insult your father (Oyedepo) who is not greater than Jesus Himself. Do you know how many insults Jesus has received besides this your own now since 2000 years ago and counting?

Faith without works is dead. Paying tithes and fat offerings are not the works but loving your neighbors is even if it's just by 1%. For how can you say you love God and hate your neighbors that you see?

The bible in Galatians warned believers that they are free from the law, but if they chose to be held bound by the law again, then they are under obligation to fulfil all the law to the later.
If you believe II Corinthians 8.9 " For you know the GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He becames poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich". That will work for you. The condition your your becoming is that Jesus became poor. If you believe that you he became poor in your place, then you are no longer poor but rich.

But if you believe Malachi 3.10. Then continue in it. It works indeed. But make sure you follow it to the later. You must tithe from everything you have including money people dash you, or gifts people dash you. If you are unfaithful even for once, you have broken the law and it will not work.

do u remember the parable of the rich man and lazarous? if lazarous didnt do the will of God will he inherit or be welcomed in the bosom of abraham? and he died poor, even jesus did not promise a beautiful rich life to those who believe in him, but a most rewarding end like in the case of lazarous.

Reading the Bible is one thing, understanding it is another. The latter is only given by the HolySpirit. many so called Bible readers try to understand the bible with their little minds. The Meaning and Purpose of Zakat

The literal meaning of Zakat is ‘to cleanse’ or ‘purification’. In the Islamic faith, Zakat means purifying your wealth for the will of Allah SWT; to acknowledge that everything we own belongs to Allah SWT and to work towards the betterment of the Muslim Ummah. According to Islamic regulations, Zakat is 2.5% of one year’s total cumulative wealth. This amount is then distributed to the poor. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) has said “Whoever pays the zakat on his wealth will have its evil removed from him” (Ibn Khuzaimah and at-Tabaraani).

Zakat as a Means of Spiritual Purification

Zakat is not only a means to purify one’s wealth but it is also a spiritual purification which serves as a means to draw an individual closer to the Creator, Allah SWT. Ibn Taimiah said that, “the soul of one who gives zakat is blessed and so is his wealth”. It is quite clear from the above narration that in addition to being a moral obligation, Zakat is also a spiritual one which is why millions of Muslims every year give Zakat to the poor.

'In their wealth there is a known share for the beggars and the destitute’ (70:24-25)

We mentioned how Zakat is a means of connection between the person and Allah SWT. It also provides a connection between the giver and the recipient. The entire concept of donating a fraction of one’s wealth to the poor is a highly honourable act; one that comes with valuable lessons as well as blessings. First and foremost, it teaches Muslims self-discipline, allowing the giver to free themselves from the love of possessions and greed.

Who Should Pay Zakat?

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. As such, it is compulsory on Muslims, provided they meet certain conditions and criteria. Any Muslim who possesses the required nisaab (the minimum amount of wealth that one must have before zakat is payable) for one whole year is bound to pay Zakat on that wealth. It is imperative that Muslims know exactly how much Zakat they owe and How to Calculate Zakat so that the right amount can be given to the intended recipient.

General Conditions of Zakat

Recipient’s Eligibility: It is absolutely imperative that every shred of aid given reaches only those who need it most. As such, recipients of Zakat must be sufficiently poor to receive it. In a nutshell, if they don’t have personal assets that either meet or exceed the nisab, they are eligible to receive Zakat.
Paying Zakat In Advance: People who wish to pay for Zakat for future years can certainly do so. Keep in mind that the pre-paid amount can be offset against the actual zakat liability incurred in future years.
Payment in Kind: Zakat can be paid in many ways. The ideal way for today’s fast paced world is cash or if some people prefer, they can pay in kind as long as the value of goods are equal to the cash amount and furthermore, the recipient has agreed to accept the goods in kind.

Zakat and Tax:

Some people might think Zakat is a form of tax. It is not. Zakat and tax are two entirely different things. One is a spiritual act and an obligation as a caring human being and the other is a requirement of secular law. The concept of Zakat is to assist the poor and those who are suffering in order to help them end their suffering and get back on their feet.

The money is never to be given to religious leaders as in the case of tithe, but is to given directly to the poor, orphans, handicapped and the needy in general.
So you see the differences.
Zakat is from the rich to the poor while tithe is from the poor to the rich.

Its a good thing you chose not to argue cause you can't argue with the truth. That truth says
[NLT] Malachi 3:8 “Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ “You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me.
[NLT] Malachi 3:9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me.

So not paying tithes is cheating or robbing God which attracts a curse while paying attracts a blessing so big you won't have room to contain it.

I did not write that scripture, I simply read it and I obey it and it works. Try it too like God said in verse 10.

The Holy Bible says "my people perish because they lack knowledge". Know your bible, not what these thief Pastors preach for their pockets sake.

Read Deut 14, from verse 22, you will know what to do with your tithes.

If the Pastor like let him keep his blessing. Remember, it is God that blesses, not Pastors, so stop believing Pastors and start believing the word of God as stated in the only Holy Book we Christians know - The BIBLE.

tithing isn't for the born again believer. Are you a Jew? are you under the Mosaic covenant? think my sister. Tithing has been done away with. That is why none of the apostles, either Paul or the original 12 emphasis it. If it was that important, it would definitely have been commanded by the apostles. Search all through the new testament after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, nowhere talks about tithing and refers it to money or material blessings. The only giving recognized for the believer is the one,not by compulsion but by freewill and willingness and as you have purposed in your own heart.
