I had no idea Nigeria had Uranium deposits,I thought we would have to import it to maintain the power plants. I fully support this,because our means of generating power is dated. Another alternative would be renewable energy if only to placate the environmental activists.

We have not yet mastered the basics of disposing our environmental wastes properly, which is why a lot of our streets and cities are an eyesore. So how on earth will the radioactive, toxic waste generated by these nuclear plants, be handled??!

A government which can't even properly maintain airports, railways or refineries wants to get into the nuclear power business? What a terrible joke! And even if we wanted to go nuclear, why would we ask for help from the Russians, of all people? Has no one in the administration heard of Chernobyl?

The one thing the Nigerian government has consistently shown over the last 56 years is that it cannot be trusted with anything of even the slightest difficulty. Even countries like Britain and France have severe issues with managing nuclear waste, so the thought of Nigerian government employees making decisions on such matters is utterly frightening. One can only imagine how quickly bribe seeking (and the rampant tribalism that has already poisoned this thread) would lead to disasters affecting millions of people for decades.

most of you people don't even realise that He is just giving you old news. we have just concluded phase 2 out of the 3 phases necessary for a nuclear programme. the two plants are to be sited in itu, akwa ibom and geregu, kogi state. for the wailers crying about it being a ploy by this administration, the first one will be completed by 2025, and this programme has been in active planning for over 10years

If there's any leak in the nuclear plant, how fast can It be curbed?

We have other sustainable sources of energy, yet it's nuclear they want. Copy cats. Wind energy, solar energy and fuel energy is enough. We don't need radiation again.

We are still struggling with biscuit wrappers and nylons all over our roads and drainage system from food processing companies.

Even Niger delta that is just oil, see how they destroyed their land. What has govt done to harness the situation. No laws passed against land pollution by foreign companies.

If there's a leakage and we have to evacuate a whole city, Is nigeria ready for that. I remember Ikeja bomb blast, not a single ambulance was in sight. The police didn't even direct people. So please and please let It remain an idea till Nigeria is developed.
