omonnakoda:Guy. Look inwards and ask yourself what your problem is. i believe you are a graduate. Go to Army headquarters or NDA and ask officers about Ojukwu. they will tell you. You said Ojukwu 'begged'. I should not even answer you. An igbo man, beg... my friend, get lost with your inferiority complex. Afonjas must accept that they are inferior to the igbos. No amount of hate or envy will ursurp the truth. Trying to measure up to the igbos by debating on nairaland threads won't change the fact that many nigerians already know. I must tell you that many tribes on nairaland can see through all yaribas' shenanigans. |

I can still remember the officer's voice saying; Stanley. ...Stanley you sit there and lie and lie! Lolzzz Stop that stupid lie about ibo man and begging. |

ificatchmodeh:Gowon released and more crucially pardoned him with an official Gazette. That was recorded in a book by a foreigner published in 1971. Where is Ojukwu's version recorded? More crucially did Ojukwu have authority to pardon a person convicted of Treasonable felony a Federal Offence. So if Ojukwu released him and we have pictures of Awo in Lagos on August 3 1966 who pardoned him? |

omonnakoda:The Summary of this long paragraph is that on 29 July 1966 Random violence in Abeokuta spiralled out of control into a mutiny and Ironsi Fajuyi and others were killed. Actors like Yar'adua in the 1st Batallion in Enugu were supposed to kill Ojukwu and finish the job in the East. About 70% of the troops in Enugu were Northerners. There was a news blackout initially. But news about what was happening got to Ogunewe the next day Eventually Ogunewe(an Ibo) who was the head of the battalion succeeded in locking the armory and persuading the other officers to maintain calm (His deputy was Benjamin Adekunle). Other officers include Yar'adua and Jalo bothe Northerners among others Ojukwu was initiallly in Government House Enugu. He escaped from there taking refuge at a police station and also escaped to Onitsha for a brief period. He was making calls to Lagos and insisted on the Northern troops being repatriated before he eventually came out of hiding after about two weeks. When the troops left Enugu for Lagos by train via Kaduna led by Adekunle. One struggles to see how in all that chaos the Ojukwu can claim to control anything from his police station hideout or that he had any reason to think of Awolowo and his release |
