That is what happens when you cross the international dateline from east to west. It happens everyday. San Francisco bound planes from the far east usually fly into the previous day instead of the next day.

that is possible when u move clock wise crossing the international dateline, u will lose a day and when crossing the international dateline anti clock wise u gain a day either. so dat means d plane fleet frm shanghai to clock wise and lost a day

Time difference is what happened here. China see the new year like some 16 hours before the Americans, the plane took off from Shanghai, China which had already seen the new year of 2017 and landed back in America which had not entered 2017 yet due to the fact that San Francisco is 16 hours behind Shanghai

Yes it is possible, because this is where dateline draws a line that's Samoa to America . you left Samoa Sunday night and you get in to America Sunday morning.

Simple to comprehend, Nigeria and Ghana has 1 hour time different. when its 12am in Nigeria, it still 11pm in Ghana. And flight duration is just 45 minutes.

IDL international date line...it's very possible...d said plane tends to gain some hours...meaning repeating a day twice in different countries having different time zones.

there is nothing strange or new about it, shout out to all those shouting end time landing, it happened like that because of the time difference, for Christ's sake China is 15 hours ahead of san fransisco US, hence difference in the timing between departure and arrival.

China is 6hrs ahead of Africa and Africa is 6hrs ahead of U.S. therefore, travelling from China to U.S, you will gain almost 12hrs.

Not much of a surprise for any good Geography student....that's the essence of the knowledge of time zones like you have GMT, CAT, CET, etc.

That flight crossed the International Date Line which lies from North to South somewhere in the Pacific Ocean in the backward direction. This Date Line can be seen on any World Map or Atlas.

Not true...go back to your world map or Atlas..USA has 4 timezones only...that is the east coast is seperated from the west coast by 4 hours maximum.

The country that has such large number of time zones as you mentioned is Russia which has 11 time zones, as it is the largest country on Earth.
