jpphilips: I have nothing against government taxing religious organizations and neither am I a pastor nor one of those gullible religious followers. My concerns are for those who placed their trusts in fake religious leaders whose major interests are the extravagant life styles and positions attached to their offices. However it is dangerous for a secular society like ours to allow either by commission or omission her laws to be stylishly and deceptively aligned majorly to Islamic religion/agenda either sharia, paedophilia, symbols, Kaduna state religious law e.t.c And I hope you are also aware the sultan of sokoto kicked against gender equality bill but quick to support grazing bill and any other that'll push their agenda. So when some southerners think they are intelligent by supporting certain decisions of government they failed to realise they are mostly foolish by not realising the underbelly moves of certain decisions/actions which are inimical to southern Nigeria. All I am interested in is a fair and just Nigeria for all and if that is not possible then will it not be sensible to explore true federalism / regionalism or allow those who are willing to opt out of this contraption to do the needful But I hope christian leaders will get their acts together for a common cause devoid of selfishness. 1 Like |

[quote author=hakeem4shi post=52659207]And I just have a question for you to answer, when was this law passed into law and under whose administration was the law enacted? I think your answer will go a long way in reducing bigotry and find out critical points before you type nor comment. Before you comment on this thread answer this question 1. which Muslim leader will be affected by this law with the exception of Elzakzaky which the government of Sheik Buhari wants to destroy 2. When did Buhari become the Holy spirit who decides who should lead the church and for how long 3. Does this laws strips Christians of the opportunity to determine how they wish to be led 4. How many imams will yield to any law of succession in their mosques contrary to Qur'anic prescriptions When I told people that Osinbajo is useless when it comes to protecting the church and defending the its rights many did not believe , Southern Kaduna Christians who were massacred over 800 of them in one night is a clear example May God intervene in Nigeria In Jesus Name Weeps olodo copy &paste despite u seeing answer already u still fail the exam with ur stupidity |

jpphilips:My submission does not mean what you're asking... my concern is while others are obedient to national laws, others are trying really hard not to as a result of their beliefs. Such is a challenge on the sovereignty of Nigeria if not properly checked. Mind you, the issue was challenged in court. The outcome was accepted by all despite their discomforts. People can argue that they were called by God according to his word, therefore should not be asked to step aside from leading their flock given to them by God. I hope you understand my angle.... |

Moyinoluwa35:To imagine that someone with this load of venom in the name of insult is actually supposed to be defending the men of God shows the failure of the religious and the educational system, what have you learnt from them? Read your comment again and see if it makes sense to you? 1 Like |

TheFreeOne:Exactly my point. National laws should not be skewed to favour certain groups. While others are quick to obey national laws, others select the ones to obey. This is a challenge on the sovereignty of Nigeria. It is only fair play that can save this country from the imminent collapse |

YouthsPC0: I am wondering what Buhari has to do with this issue. This law was made by Law makers in the era of Jonathan. And to think of it, I think it is the only good thing Jonathan did for this country. Those selling the name of Jesus to become non-tax paying billionaires cannot perpetuate themselves on the system forever. If truly the organization is a non profit outfit, there should not be problem seeding it to someone else to run and they be the spiritual Leader like Daddy Adeboye has just done in RCCG. Otherwise, they should register the outfit as a money making ventures and pay tax like every other such outfits. 2 Likes |

My dear, why all the fear? The church is not given 20 years to close up, it's the leadership structure that the law may have targeted to avoid the type of those who builds universities with poor people's money and bar the poor people's children from studying there. I don't know, but your alarm is hyped. 1 Like |

"The problem with the social media is that it does not provide for mental and psychological assessment of its users. It is this democratic nature of the Internet that has opened floodgates of opportunities to scumbags and idiots to come online to spew their gibberish and balderdash. Sir, your verbal menstruation and diarrhea make me see idiots like Fayose and FFK as highly cerebral and intelligent. Please, kindly use your data to learn more about the regulations guiding the establishment and running of private sectors and organizations than typing these bombastic lines! Thanks |

By the time they are through with you guys, you will wish you were not a Nigerian, this is just the beginning, you guys have not seen anything yet. 2019 is still far away, this man is on a mission to fulfil the northern agenda, why some people still cannot see is so appalling. Everything you see happening since this man bubu came on the seen is as was planned and handed over to him to actualize. No wonder the wife screamed out that her husband has been hijacked by a secret cabal. Poor woman she did not even know what was happening, ofcourse the husband is just a figure head carrying out the plans of some elements but the good news is that they will all backfire. |

Who made that law? And when? Please do your research properly. However many religious organisations don't have leaders that spend that much time anymore. This is the modern world where religious and politics is ome and the same. I understand that many will get emotional about this but truth is, many of the church members have ambitions and aspirations too and they too are secretly happy about the enforcement of such a law. Are the Muslims complaining? Are other denominations of churches complaining? So why is it a problem? When some of these churches were enjoying import waivers and denied Nigeria of returns, we didn't get emotional o. Everything as regards the affairs of men on earth must be kept in check whether you like it or not. I thought we always say that God approves of authority and leaders of government? So the law shouldn't be a problem. Buhari didn't make that law! And that law was signed by a Christian! YouthsPC0: |

Stop lying my friend. You asked a question and refused to answer it. Do you think nairaland doesn't have smart people here? Soludo had nothing to do with the law against Bank Chiefs. It was promulgated by Sanusi and targeted specifically against Cecilia, Jim and Erastus for their attempt to block his nomination at the Senate. It also caught a few "innocents" who were unfortunate like the M.D of Skye Bank. Pls inform us who presented the bill against Head of NGO's in Parliament and tell us the date it was passed. 2dugged: Good observation ma, saying I was oblivious of that fact means am not been honest.. I actually hammered more on churches because of the indexes we see day in day out compared to other religious bodies. Am a Christian, schooled and lived among Muslims, but I feel bitter with d approach of the Christian faith towards the warefare of her members!!! |

progress69: Ho your research well before showing your act of stupidity.... The law which swept under the carpet as it was taken to court after resistance from GEJ was simply revisted and was implemented by this FG on October 2016 Furthermore, am not as ignorant as you are considering that you own TV, Radio , Google etc but you don't listen to them. Finally get a life, stay out of my comments... Its not your right to respond to it |

2dugged: My example will be based on the micro level, as that was the basis of my argument.. Fortunately for me, I have experienced Islam and Christianity so I feel I have an idea of both ends The Islamic community I found myself in sometimes in the 90s made it mandatory to provide help for her members, help with the schools fees of some wards and sundry others Later on, the only tin I get to hear in churches is pay this, pay that, if u love Jesus, come and drop so so so money... There was one church I attended and probably like 30 mins to the end, a visiting pastor mounted the alter and in their usual so called spiritual prophetic fashion, he told the average earning congregation to help the ministry of God move foward by pledging #100,000.. I was shocked.. He went further by saying God had revealed it to him that there is a gigantic miracle awaiting such fellow..DAT day, I counted close to 6 members..dats 600,000 in just 15 mins..funnily or lemme say cunningly, the 100k call later came down to 500 naira!!!!! Can u beat that? |

Re: Systematic Stripping Of The Church Under Buhari By Favour Afolabi by Nobody: 6:17am On Jan 10, 2017 |
olasmith10:and you think churches don't pay school fees and or help thier members?, let's start from the 90s as you said, back then there used to be a special donation for evangelists in the field, comprising of clothes, food items and clothes, although few churches still do it, also I know a church that sponsored three orphans up to university level, they were three brothers, also I know some widows whose children have been helped by the church to learn a trade and even get jobs, so my friend I don't know how many churches you have attended but stop saying things you know nothing about, yes i will agree that these days this things I mentioned are being practiced by few,but going to the 90s to say that the church wasn't up and doing as at then is just a case of giving a dog a bad name, which is why I will ask again, how many churches did you attend in the 90s, and don't think the church will come and start announcing that thay just paid the school fees of this member's child, except you are privileged to be in such a congregation |
