PLEASE FORGIVE THE LONG POST

QUESTIONS ABOUT CERCLAGE!

So I had my cerclage done @ 12 weeks, was placed on cyclogest 400mg nightly, aspirin 75mg daily, salbutamol(a.k.a ventolin) 2mg 2x daily plus folic acid n fesolate.
The issue now is that after 2 weeks the doctor asked me to reduce the salbutamol to once daily and stop after a week, but I couldn't summon up courage to stop, after reading @raptors story of how she had preterm birth at 22 weeks after taking salbutamol for 3 weeks cos doc asked her to stop, and another mama who had cramps when she reduced her dosage.
So when I went for my next appointment 2 weeks later, I told d doctor I didn't stop d salbutamol as he asked me to because I was scared, and told him about raptor's 22wk loss, he then asked if I was raptor, I said no , he went straight to say he was writing it in my file that I went against medical advice(guess he wanted to document, cos he was a junior doctor standing in for the consultant) So I asked him if continuing had any adverse effects on my baby, to which he replied no. So we left it at that.
please mama's that have or had cerclage,
1) can you please share your course of treatment? (I know no 2 people are the same)
Where you on aspirin, cyclogest, duphaston, gestone,nifedipine, salbutamol or ventolin, also was anyone on prophylactic (preventative) antibiotics?
2) hw often did you have scans done, and what type?
3) how did\do you deal with bloating and constipation?
4) *funny* did you notice that your baby tunnel became tighter as if the entrance is being blocked with a mound of flesh or so,cos whenever I want to insert cyclogest, e go be like say I dey look for d hole. Lol !

Good afternoon mamas. 
So many mentions from you all. I wish I can respond to every single one. 
It's been a stressful few days!
From going to the hospital everyday at 2am to drop expressed breast milk and staying till 10pm. It's been hard. I've not slept in 2days!
He is now sucking directly from breast and mehn he can suck oooooo!! He can suck!!!

In all I thank God cos it's better than him not eating at all. The pain and sleepless night is so worth it. 
Ilan is doing well, and we have been discharged. Just waiting to fill paperwork and get home to rest. 

Pls what can I do abt swollen feet? It's so bad it hurts to walk. My bp is normal

Also my left nipple and areola hurts when Ilan sucks. Pls what can I do?

abeg no turn am to issue don't get d oda mama wrong .. whether you mil comes 1st ooo or ur mom comes 1st d koko be say na u dem wan come take care of, in ur point I guess u not really convenient wit ur mil which is normal d other mama meant well too, telling u not to show it u can discuss the issue with ur dh or better still ask ur mom to come over sooner Dan ur mil if she's not a busy type and wen mil comes welcome her with warm heart no show her for ur actions say u no want her presence ooo wen u feel u not comfortable discuss with dh.. we all meant well here one mans food is another mans poison.. like d naked aspect let me burst ur head my mom do feel one kind I don't know why if am dressing up n taking my time in her presence she will be like do fast na see as u open body dis dat cheesy buh mil if I tried cover body she will be like what are u covering..

Thank God for his faithfulness...

For d swollen feet, always raise ur legs wt pillows....when ur lying down n even when ur breastfeeding. Reduce ur salt intake n drink lots of water so u can pee well.

Pele dear....it happened to me for abt 3 weeks post delivery but gradually it cleared out.
Pls rest well o cos stress also contributes

For d nipple ish, pls ensure dt he is latched on well....i think iomoge2 shld b able to advice on dt

For my first delivery, was my MIL. cos my mum fell I'll after she heard of d baby's death. My MIL is the best any time any day. Not sure I will be that comfortable with mum coming this time but what can I do? its her right. MIL has more motherly instinct than my mum.
exactly although mil can be annoying a times buh I still prefer her bcus she can over care n u will get tired of d care sef but dat doesn't mean I don't love my mom although I would love her to stay since its her 1st grandchild buh my mom can too form over busy..

Mummy Ilan kpele, thank God your baby is OK now.
Am sure your body has been retaining fluid cos of all the stress and you ve maybe been on ur feet too long.
Please be sure Ilan is latching on properly, and you can get original cold pressed coconut oil (colorless one) rub on ur nipples, its even safe if ur baby ingests it. Or the popular lasinoh lanolin nipple cream.

Thank God for speedy recovery dear... boys dey suck na, you no knw?? He is just starting. Like mommy enque told you, take lots of water and reduce salt intake...try to bath as often as possible so that you don react to heat (excess fluid usually pass out through sweat and can give you rashes or eczema).
If you can, get a nipple cream or if you have petroleum jelly (mine is equator from US, very veryyyy effective), take enough and rub it generously round the nipp.le... but please, wash ur nips b4 breastfeeding Ilan ok. Hope he is latching well dear..

Good to know, happy for you. As for the surgery thing, that doesn't sound true, even mamas that have undergone CS once are allowed to try for V. Delivery the next time if they want to.

I was on nifedipine from start to finish for my first pregnancy with a cerclage. For my 2nd with a cerclage i was not given any medication at all.

I didn't take more than one packet of cyclogest after the cerclage.
I took ventolin for just a few days. Twasnt upto one week.
Antibiotics was also prescribed for a few days too.
I was supposed to be on nifedipine for a long time but i stopped on my own after a few weeks. Not a fan of drugs *covers face*
Apart from these, normal prenatal drugs.


2) hw often did you have scans done, and what type?

I had 2 scans after the cerclage and they were normal pelvic scans



3) how did\do you deal with bloating and constipation?

Didn't have these. Just heartburn

4) *funny* did you notice that your baby tunnel became tighter as if the entrance is being blocked with a mound of flesh or so,cos whenever I want to insert cyclogest, e go be like say I dey look for d hole. Lol !

Lolz. I didn't notice o. Coz i was inserting the cyclogest through the back entrance

Mumsy's in lag and mil's only two hours away and we plan to only break the news of safe delivery to everyone, so I figure she might run down here before mumsy...so on how to send her back...hmmn. I'll figure something out sha.

And you're so on point with the being unclad thingy. Wouldn't want to be showing my nyash to anybody upandan.

@rollykotex, yeah, you're also almost there. Oftentimes, try to engage your thoughts in matters other than your EDD. Helps to speed up time.

Hey welcome new teamie, sorry about your discomfort. Lots of mamas have complained about their babies being in breech position. If you know how to use the nairaland search button, search 'baby breech' and you would find lots of mamas that have been in your shoes before. The prayer would be that the baby changes position before delivery and we still have atleast ten weeks left for the to happen. Welcome to #teamApril, I'd add your name to the next roll call.

God's maximum protection shall continually shield them.

On the diaper issue, molfix was bae for me till I bought the fake ones( you won't know till you start using it), the waistband and strap doesn't hold for long with rashes on bum.

It's better to buy from big stores as they are being supplied by molfix distributors( I purchased only from Ceci Plaza when I was still in Akure)

I changed to Toujours, it's good too till I discovered Baby Hugg which is ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔.
