Bolton, Oxford United & Sheffield United In
Three-Horse Race For Solomon-Otabor

https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/83794Otabor.jpg

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that
Birmingham City Young Player of the Year Viv
Solomon-Otabor might temporarily depart the
Championship club for pastures new before the
close of the transfer window today.

The Dream Team VI invitee is currently thrashing out terms with three clubs - Bolton Wanderers, Oxford United and Sheffield United - over a loan deal.

Solomon-Otabor has recorded five appearances
for the Blues in all competitions this season, and
manager Gianfranco Zola is not against the idea
of farming the talented winger out on loan until
the end of this season.

The 21-year-old featured for Oxford City on loan in 2014.

U are on point, well i was opportuned to watch d 1984 final live and i want to state it that Cameroon were full of experience with players like Milla,Thomas Nkono but Nigeria coached by Onigbinde and captained by very young Keshi,d team was full of young players except Muda Lawal who was 32,though Nigeria had a great semi final against Ivory coast that led to penalty shootout, this match gave rise to Peter Rufai, though injured and Patrick Okala was in goal against Cameroon in d final.

The euphoria of semi final victory really affected d team in d final, but i want to state that we lost to a superior Cameroonian side.Truly 1984 gave birth to d golden generation of Cameroon that later shook d world in 1990 by beating Argentina 1 nil in d opening game.

Well maroc 88,prior to d final,Nigeria and Cameroon played goalless draw during group stage and need to meet again in d final, but d final was marred by terrible officiating and a lots need to questioned CAF integrity coz it was obvious Cameroon was designed to lift d trophy coz Nwosu goal was just too good but d referee ruled it offside and also Milla contact with Eboigbe that resulted to d penalty was a cleared diving from Milla.

Uhmmm... I really think you gotta give Cameroun huge credits here. Putting their progress so far at this Afcon on just Ondoa's heroics is not doing justice to the observation of "tactical" discipline that team have shown.

Sir Goldfish80 did blow the whistle on this Camerounian team few weeks ago and so far he's been proven right.

Even when I saw the quarters pairings of Senegal vs Cameroun, I was just laughing because I knew history favored Cameroun prior to that fixture. I did say Senegal were favorites but I ended by saying History favors Cameroun.

The Indomitable lions have not been fantastic or spectacular in anyway... But they always seem to just know what to do to see out a game and get the results they want. I did mention this when Sir LazyErudite correctly predicted that the senegal-cameroun game will end on penalties with Cameroun winning.

Look, this camerounian team may lack goals and flair but they got grit, guts, heart and a discipline to keep their tactical shape throughout a game's duration. That alone is fearsome I have to admit. Tactical discipline wins you the toughest games some times and so far, Cameroun and Egypt has that at this Afcon. I don't know who will take the trophy eventually but you gotta admit that Cameroun"s tactical discipline have brought them this far and not just Ondoa's heroics or mere luck.

In August, that will be in another time scale, hopefully Our Super Eagles will be ready for the double-headed big battles.
Top post TheSuperNerd... More of the same please

Giggs Reacts To Iwobi’s Goal – He Is Not Getting The Praises He Deserves

Former Manchester United star and manager
Ryan Giggs says Alex Iwobi is not getting the
praises his performances deserves.

Iwobi scored the only goal for Arsenal in their 1-2 loss to Watford at the Emirates, with Giggs
watching the game as a television pundit.

The former Man United legend while analysing the way Iwobi took his goal, said the 20 year old
deserve more commendations than he is getting at the moment.

”He scored an intelligent goal that look easy to
the eyes, but when you consider the fact that his jab took three people out of the way then you will appreciate the quality”, Giggs said.

”I don’t think he is getting the praises he
deserves, when you look around England, he is
the only homegrown 20 year old, who is a regular for a team in the top three”.

Agent Confirms – Celtic Efe Ambrose Is Off To Blackburn Rovers

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/image-135.jpg

Efe Ambrose has arrived England to complete a
transfer to English Championship side Blackburn Rovers from Scottish champions Celtic.

The 28 year old has been out of favour at Celtic
after a poor start to life under new coach Brendan Rodgers, where he committed two errors in back to back UEFA Champions League qualifiers games that almost proved costly.

”We are in England right now as we speak. He
will undergo a medical very soon and the move
will be made official”, his intermediary told
Owngoalnigeria.com on phone.

”The paperworks are presently been handled by both teams, it should beat the deadline hopefully. Efe is happy, it’s a fresh start for him”.

Hmm.... A stats thread on other players? Hmmm... We have the youths/cadets players/talents thread by Joseph1013 and then we have this current thread....

I think we can discuss whatever stats and progress about the other players and rising stars here. That's what we've been doing anyway though not so consistently. But we do try and will hopefully step it up more.

The likes of Sirs TheGoodJoe, Goldfish80 and even Forgiveness throw up stats oftentimes about our players in discussions.

Indeed, You're right about the 100s and 100s of star potentials and players we have but several of them are U-21s and U-19s and they are well covered in Joseph1013's Nigerian Youths/Cadets players/talents thread....

NFF under Rohr pressure to land Russia-born star

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has intensified his
efforts to land versatile Russian-born full back
Brian Idowu ahead of the Super Eagles’ Russia
2018 World Cup qualifying double-header against their eternal rivals Cameroon.

Nigeria host the Indomitable Lions in the first leg qualifier in Uyo on August 28, with the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations favourites receiving the Eagles in the reverse fixture in Limbe on September 2.

The Eagles face Senegal’s Terranga Lions in a
friendly affair in London in March before taking on South Africa in a Cameroon 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in the same month.

Rohr had hinted that the Senegal friendly would offer him a chance to blood new players,
particularly Europe-born players of Nigerian
descent, in a bid to fortify his team ahead of the
South Africa and Cameroon clashes.

Our correspondent learnt that 24-year-old Amkar Perm left-back Idowu, who can play at centre-half or right-back, features high on the list of Rohr’s Europe-born targets.

The Nigeria boss, who is currently working as a
pundit for French TV station BeIN at Gabon 2017, is said to have put the Nigeria Football Federation under pressure to resolve the immigration challenges the player is reportedly facing in his effort to commit his international allegiance to the Eagles.

It was learnt that the German decided to revive
his interest in the player he could not secure his
services for the World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo on November 12, 2016 due to immigration issues after watching Cameroon’s matches in Gabon.

The Indomitable Lions have switched between a 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formation in Gabon, with
Denmark-based Christian Bassogog posing a big
threat on the counter-attack.

And Rohr, who sees the Aalborg’s rising star as a potent weapon in Cameroon’s arsenal against the Eagles, believes a physical defender that has blazing speed is the solution to the Indomitable Lions’ foray forward through Bassogog and on-loan Marseille winger Clinton Njie.

Sources told our correspondent that Rohr doesn’t regard Monaco flop Elderson Echiejile as the kind of player who should be starting for the national team after his unconvincing performance in the 3-1 defeat of Algeria.

With Dutch-born Ado Den Haag right-back
Tyronne Ebuehi already pledging his international allegiance to Nigeria, the Eagles manager wants to go a step further by getting Idowu to shore up his defence before facing Cameroon.

According to sources, the former Gabon coach is not happy that the process of getting the player a Nigerian passport has been very slow.

Nothing special about Lions of Cameroon, says NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said
that Nigerians should not be worried by the
smooth run of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun at the on-going Gabon 2017 AFCON.

The Lions and Super Eagles of Nigeria have scores to settle in August this year when hostilities resume for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The Camerounians, who will face the Black Stars of Ghana in the AFCON semifinal tomorrow, will be in Uyo to face the Super Eagles in August with the reverse fixture four days later at the hill top Stadium in Limbe, Cameroun.

Nigeria currently leads the World Cup qualifying group with six points against Cameroon’s two.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, chairman Technical Committee of NFF, Chris Green said the Lions may be having it all smooth in the AFCON, but they will fall in the two-legged World Cup qualifier against the Eagles.

“This Camerounian team is not doing anything
special in Gabon. I agree that the Super Eagles
and Lions of Cameroun are perennial rivals, but
we want to use this journey to Russia 2018 World Cup to prove a point that we are now ahead of them. The atmosphere in Gabon and the teams they have played so far will be different from the World Cup qualifiers.

“We have our plans, and our decision to allow the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr, to travel to Gabon to watch the matches will be an added advantage to us. He now has first hand information about the Lions.

“I am not saying that Cameroun is a push over,
but I am assuring Nigerians that they won’t
prevent the Eagles from flying to Russia. What
the result of Cameroun’s smooth run in Gabon
means to us is for the NFF to go the extra mile in preparing the Super Eagles for the challenges
ahead. But as I said, there is nothing special
about this Camerounian team,” Green stated.
