congratulations on your visa, please can you help answer the following questions.
1. did you get a letter from your host
2. when filling your from did you choose the medical tourism option

idonhear:
In the spirit of giving back, we bless God for the success of our interview today. We acted on faith and prayed though it may sound foolish but God honoured our faith. We have already bought tickets for both taking advantage of Emirate Promo that ended Jan 18 while believing God for success at the interview which was scheduled almost a month ago. We are first time applicants, no travel history for DW, though I have travelled to Ghana twice before now.

VO: Good morning
We: Good morning
VO: Are you husband and wife?
We: Yes
VO: Why do you want to go to the US?
DW: For childbirth and vacation
Me: For exam and witness the birth of my first baby
VO: What exam is that?
Me: I mentioned it, he inquired to know the full meaning after just giving the acronyms
VO: Okay, where do you do?
Me: I am the so so and so of XYZ Plc (hypothetical name), he interrupted and asked what my day to day activity looks like. I explained, I think he felt I know what I am saying (he was impressed) nodded and asked further questions in my line of work.
VO: How much do you earn per month?
Me: I earn Xk per month apart from other benefits and bonuses?
VO: Turned to DW, where do you work?
DW: I work as ZYX, and I do so and so.
VO: What course did you study for your bachelor degree?
DW: I studied accounting.
VO: Are you chartered?
DW: Yes, I am.....I have both ACCA and ACA
VO: That is cool, how much do you mean monthly?
DW: I earn Zk monthly aside quarterly bonuses.
VO: Okay, how much is your budget for this trip, and how much have you saved?
DW: A little above 12k dollars cos I will be staying with my host during the period of my stay, and I have saved about 10k dollars.
VO: 10k, how do you intend to meet up?
DW: I will be travelling sometime in May, and I should be able to have saved up more before then.
Me: We have doctor’s correspondence here, if you would like to see.
VO: I was about asking for that, give me three documents….Budget sheet, Doctor’s correspondence and hospital bill showing the amount the childbirth is gonna cost you.
DW: We passed it to him, we also have the bank statement here.
VO: Oh, no need, just those three documents. Why this doctor and hospital?
DW: Well, based on host’s (a relative – DH’s aunty) recommendation and proximity to residence, and online review.
VO: He went through the correspondence, and the budget sheet very well.
VO: Congratulations, he gave us the white paper, and noted that we should go with all documents especially doctor’s correspondence as it might be checked at point of entry explaining that people were not allowed entry into the US cos they don’t have the documents.
We were so happy….Glory be to God.

The VO has turned down so many before us, if not up to 15, he sounded tough, drilled people and asked so many questions and we were like praying not to have him to interview us, but lo and behold, we were sent to him. DW said God will favour us, and we believed, went to him and God did it.

You cannot just be denied a renewal.

Did you apply for medical visa or you used a visiting visa for childbirth?
Did you lie about being pregnant?
Did you pay all your bills?
.

The first time I applied in 2014 was for conference and I couldn't make the conference due to preggy issue, I was been sponsored by my place of work and wasn't asked if I was preggy or if I will seek medical assistance as my preggy was at d early stage. I used dat visa for childbirth Afta sending change of intent letter.to ur second question I applied in December 2016 for a renewal via Dropbox to go for Xmas and it was tourist visa I applied for as I was goin to use it for holiday in December, bt I didn't get a follow up interview till 4th of January after d planned holiday day has passed. I was asked by the VO my purpose of visit and told her it was suppose to be for the Xmas holiday, then she asked if I was preggy and I told her yes and she also asked about my husband and why he want travelling wit us which I answered was cos of his job and I was denied and asked to apply afresh. Dat was why I applied wit my husband , my son and myself the second time time but we were also denied after been asked where we work. To your 3rd question not sure if I lied I came across to d VO like I lied.(may be my renewal I shud hve apply straight for medicals but since I was goin to use it for tourism purpose in December dats why I didn't ) and to your last question I paid all my bills from the last time and I have my zero balance. Sorry for the long post just wanted to explain it well so I can get genuine and sincere suggestions if I should go back to Abuja after two denials dere or if I shud try Lagos. Thank u so much all

Good day my wonderful people. I have been a silent reader of this thread and I must say I've really learnt a lot from reading various post on this thread now I need your sincere assistance.
I was issued 2yrs medical visa for birthing purpose in 2015 which I successfully use and paid all my bills. My DH applied while I was in the state to join me for assistance cos I had CS but was refused. I came back after processing all my baby documents and used the visa again January,2016 for baby follow up medical appointment with his dr after a scrotal scan was done on him when I noticed a swollen scrotum and as well paid all bills. Now I intend to use the same visa for my second baby as I will be due by April and visa will expire by August and we decide that hubby should apply again December 2016 so he can join me later ard my due date so assist with our first child and his application was again refused despite showing the vo all the previous bill receipt. He re-applied within a month interval (Jan 2017) and was refused again but this time he was told not to put me on plane that my visa has been revoked. I tried to mail the embassy to mail the embassy to find out about the cancellation but the response I got does not explain whether the visa was cancelled or not and I don't know what to do next. Though I already scheduled an appointment for mid February to visit the embassy for detailed explanation and new application but I a lil bit confused. Don't know if that's the next thing to do. Kindly help a sister out.

My sister, I just pray that you will be successful. Sometimes even when one I honest with intentions, they are misunderstood and misinterpreted.
Like others have advised here, will you be able to travel ASAP?

Hmmmn. This is what being in a country that isn't moving forward actually causes. We are all in a bid to better our lives one way or the other and admittedly pple do alot of things to achieve this aim.

It is quite easy to challenge pple on the forum when you are not in their situation back home and know what they go thru.

Nigerians using prayers and fasting is a norm because that's how we are raised and we can get easily defensive when we feel attacked about it.

Lets just leave it as it is cos all of us get something for our closet that we don't reveal and America is no ones native land.

LONGLIVE NAIRALAND!!!!

Hello Madam, The first time you applied in 2014 for a conference and you didn't use the visa for the purpose for which you got it rather you used it for childbirth. Assuming you went for the conference and then went for childbirth afterwards it would have been a different thing. Secondly you applied in December 2016 for a renewal via Dropbox for a tourist visa and you were pregnant. If you had stated medical and you were issued the visa, it wouldn't stop you from going for your Christmas visit. Sincerely the VO just felt you lied and intentionally collected the visa for another purpose and used it for another. Hence the reason the denial of your husband and son.

Madam just forget reapplying for now because it will be a case of desperation.

I just feel we are getting this thing wrong. Some people will apply and say they just discovered a week after making the application. Then use it for the purpose it was given. Others will say I was not asked when they know their intention for collection. Why don't you tell the VO if you were not asked. We complicate issues for others and make everyone a potential suspect when applying hence the high rate of denial these days. Please let's just stop the issue of this letter of intent. Let's just do the right thing. If am a VO I will be so angry when I see issues like this. It makes them feel as if we think they are not smart.

The bolder is the problem, which is what I had already assumed.

I had posted twice about this, if you had a baby on a previous tourist visa just book an interview if you want to renew especially for childbirth. Take previous receipts and new medical documents to avoid this kind of issue.

Alternatively visit US many times before expiration to prove you are an actual tourist.

1. You were pregnant when you got the visa so they assumed you hid the pregnancy, lied about going for a conference which you never went for and ended up having a baby within 9 months, even with the so called change of intent letter.

2. Now you want to renew, you still applied for a tourist visa, while pregnant again. A lot of people are able to get away with doing this doesn't mean it is right, unfortunately a few people get caught in the mesh, as we can see in your case. If you ask me, don't reapply anytime soon. It will be unfair of me to say have your baby here, but, I don't know, you can try your luck in Lagos once more and try to admit to your mistakes. I can understand it was done out of ignorance

Hello everyone, please I need a little clarification here. I have this sister, She has a valid visa, she got it last year when she was pregnant and going for a medical test/treatment, unfortunately she lost the pregnancy like few months here in Nigeria before she traveled. She ended up traveling to us just for a change of environment, used like a month and returned. Now she's pregnant again but this time around, her husband wants to apply for visa so as to accompany her for the test(which is already paid for). I hope her husband will be granted d visa and her own visa won't be revoked. Because she's still here and her husband is going for interview like next week or so. Please advice. What can dey do

Hi, what type of visa did she apply for medical or tourist? If its medical and she went with her documents before she was issued the visa, and has also travelled with it. I don't think there should be a problem except it was a tourist visa she applied for. This said, her husband may be granted the visa and her visa not revoked. We don't know the VOs mind but most advice given here is based on the basic requirements and peoples experiences so far.

In the spirit of giving back... Good morning mamas and papas. I was here to share my transcript in December when I applied alone and was refused the b2 visa for no reason in Abuja.
I reapplied with my husband for January but my husband was called to work so we had to reschedule to today. He still wasn't back so I had to go for the interview alone. Here's how it went
I reapplied in Lagos this time

VO: good morning
ME: morning ma'am
VO: can I have your passport please
ME:I passed my passports to her
VO: so why are you going to the us
ME: to have my baby
VO: are you married
ME: yes I am( then I chipped in that my husband was scheduled to come with me but couldn't make it)
VO: what do you do
ME: I'm a .... Working with .....
VO: what does your husband do
ME: he works with.... As an .....
VO: so who is paying for the trip
ME: my husband is my sponsor
VO: do you have any doctors correspondent
ME: yes I do. And I gave her
VO: okay thank you.
VO: so how much will this trip cost you
ME: slightly above 13k dollars
VO: have you made any payments
ME: no. The hospital refused to collect payment until I come in person
VO: okay that's fine. Pick up your visa on Monday bla bla bla.
She said my husband can apply for his when he gets back dou.
I seriously didn't hear the rest. I'm just so excited and grateful to God who has done this. Aside the dr corespondence, nothing else was checked.

Now I'm looking for affordable tickets to Houston. Plan on using HNWM and dr Xydas.
Thank you for all the impute and encouragement. God bless you guys in nairaland

Your request is not very coherent.

Either way you should have calculated the cost of porting to Houston vs the price of rerouting the ticket.

If the cost is too much, take a local flight from Houston to JFK and use your current ticket. from JFK to Lagos.

As a general note, I would advise everyone that cares to listen to be on their best behavior.

http://www.denverpost.com/2017/01/31/trump-administration-draft-immigration-restrictions-protecting-us-jobs/

In case it't too long for you to read, see excerpt below:

It also instructs DHS and the State Department to submit a report on “the steps they are taking to combat the birth tourism phenomenon,” meaning instances in which noncitizens come to the United States to have children, who in turn gain citizenship, a popular conservative refrain but one that is dismissed by immigration experts as a relatively minor problem

While we say that the birthright citizenship law cannot be readily changed, the US can (and has done in recent past) bar people from entering their country at will.

I hate to be a prophet of doom but this is our new reality.

What we have previously called "over zealousness" in a POE officer may just be someone doing his job under the rules and terms of the new administration.

Let us just do the right thing, and then pray and fast after.

Most airlines will advice you not to travel with a baby of less than a week.
However baby should be ok before you travel and be sure to check with your airline for the most up to date policy regarding this situation.
