I'm very sorry if you feel that I was trying to antagonize you. I wasn't. I was only responding to your points. I agree let's move on.

Lol, I didn't just want to argue in other not to derail the thread plus I've noticed there are sacred cows here on nairaland... Please just let it go for the sake of the thread

@Chebe01
Your points are indeed reasonable and measured. The points I was making were not political, they were that we should not group everyone of a certain religion, race, ideology into the same bucket.

Also, as a student of American history (metaphorically speaking) and its constitution, I have a different perspective on many of these topics. My perspective was from this position, not from the position of what "rights" a country has or not. Every country has the right to do whatever it wants, but this doesn't exempt it from following its own constitution against discrimination.

Handcuffing and criminalizing innocent people, refugees, and children (including permanent residents) in airports -- solely because of their religion and national origin -- is something that no one should applaud or accept. I am neither Christian nor Muslim -- I am an agnostic atheist -- but I will always defend the rights of others, religious or not, Christian or Muslim or Buddhist or Sango worshipper or Amadiora worshipper. My view that we humans should all look out for each other is the sole reason why I stayed on this thread even though I have little to gain by being here.

The same way that I oppose discriminating against all Christians due to the lethal acts of deranged Christian white supremacist groups in the US (for example), is the same way that I oppose discriminating against all Muslims based on the acts of ISIS or Boko Haram. For America, most mass killings are not due to Islamic groups, but are due to mass murders by deranged individuals (mostly affiliated with Christianity). We shouldn't discriminate against all Christians as we shouldn't discriminate against all Muslims, just because of the acts of a few.

This is my singular point. Ok I'm done derailing the thread.

*PS: I have strong views on this also because the US is my country now. I have lived here for about half my life, and I care about it deeply.

cic needs your bank statements for the past four months(minimum). So, fairly implies that a bank statement older than a month will not meet the last four month requirement in my view as it will cover the past 3 months and a gap of one month and as such too risky to be used. I will personally not use a bank statement older than 15 days. Just go to the bank and print a new one as there is no need to take unnecessary risk. Goodluck

Thank you
The statement I printed is 7 months ish statement from July last year to early January 5th. But since the 5th I've not been able to use it because of I've been waiting for the international passport. Abj office is telling no booklet story. To get a new statement means I'll have to go back to ph and once my passport is ready ill go to lagos for the app

If someone wants to apply for study permit of Canada and the tuition fee is 15k and the living expenses is 10k, everything totals 25k Canadian dollars and the person applied as a married man with no kids and the wife is a medical doctor, Is 11.8m okay for the Acct balance of such applicant. because some people are of the view that such amount is very small .. thanks !

I dont think the amount is small, the most important is the source of inflow on that account I have seen people approved with lower balance than yours. most times its not d balance that really play the tricks bcox everyone knows if u submit a SOA with bal of say 20M today. the money can b withdrawn the following day after submitting the app cox VO's cant see beyond what u submitted and they are even aware that most of the balances are just there to flaunt and be withdrawn after submission, that is why they try to look at the trajectory inflow and outflow of money on a SOA over a certain period of time (4-6months) that would give them the incite to ur financial strength. so in conclusion, the balance is not bad at all if there is good inflow and outflow on that account over a specific period of time.

it's four months. but six months is okay

u can confirm from the site..

Not four months bro.....it's six months according to lagos visa office instructions. Understandably, on the cic website it's four months. However, if you'd ask me I'd go with the lagos visa office instructions since they deal with Nigerian applications.

this issue shd not generate any controversy bro..!! in any case where there is a conflict between CIC and vfs lagos office i believe CIC will overrirde vfs information as the former will override the latter. But i dont think there is a conflict in this case. It's an issue of ellaboration. 4months is the minimum requirement and therefore an applicant may choose to reasonably go beyond the minimum requirement by submitting 7 months bank statements.

A different example may be CIC stating 10,000cad as annual living expenses(minimum) but an applicant may reasonable choose to declare more (eg.13000cad or more) as his/her living expense depending on financial muscle.

Can I please send you an email?
Austinpee4:

It sure will raise concerns about possibility to do same in canada if they approve your study permit.
If your reasons for previous overstay is cogent enough and indicate it wasn't any fault of yours, you could stand a chance, if not, this Oputa panel will be between you and the VO.

So explain the circumstance(s) surrounding the overstay and why it got to that.
Secondly, make sure you truthfully acknowlegde that you have been asked to leave a country before in the application form to avoid any issue that may lead to admissibility or inadmissibility.

Once your reasons of overstaying are good enough and you are able to relate it to a VO, it MAY pass.
The decision is entirely the VO's and at his/her discretion.
