Yes.

Please note that 17% isn't fixed. It can go higher or lower depending on the direction of TB rates
Hmm.. Thanks..

I looked at their return rates for Dec and January... It shows around 15% but that's fine...

Will visit the nearest fbn branch to ask...
Investment one's website lacks yield info...

Thank you very much Sir.

House, has anybody ever invested in Treasury Bill through secondary market @GTB? My bid was not successful on Feb 1st and I emailed my account officer about what's available in secondary market no response from her since

Truly ARM money market fund displays rate of 17.17% on their website but they actually pay 15.6% currently. This is because a management fee of about 1.5% or below is deducted from the gross yield of 17.17%

I did that the auction before this one , the rates were little bit close to the cbn rate

There are a number of MMFs out there. Some of the popular one are those operated by FBN Capital, Stanbic Asset Management, ARM, Investment One. Obtain their contact details from their websites. There's no bidding process and you can start with 5k. There's no tenor per se. Think of it as a high yield savings account. The 17% is derived from the yields of money market instruments (TBs, commercial papers, fixed deposits) the funds are invested in. The higher the rates on TB and the rest, the higher the MMF yields
what is the difference between MMF and Treasury bills

An MMF is a collective investment scheme that invests in money market instruments ie it pools funds from several investors to be invested in money market instruments.

A TB is one type of money market instrument

I read that MMF only pay dividends quarterly.. . Is that so?

So if I withdraw after 2months do I have to wait till end of that quarter for yields?

Your interest accrues daily and can be viewed on their online platforms. So, if you withdraw after 2 months, you will receive your interest from the beginning of the quarter until the date of withdrawal. If you do not withdraw before the end of the quarter, you will receive your interest at the end of the quarter.

Think of it as a high yield fixed deposit

1. Rolled over from end of previous quarter until withdrawal or next quarter.

2. Contact your account officer or relationship manager

Fixed deposit means one is depositing money with a commercial bank on a fixed time say one year in order to earn some interest which is paid at the end of the tenor. The interest is taxed. With treasury bills, one is borrowing for example the federal government some money at a discount whose interest with is not taxed, is earned instantly. Look at the two scenarios as fix deposit means doing business with the commercial bank while treasury bills is doing business with the federal government.

Happy investing.

look at it this way. One of the first obligations government will meet first before spending money on paying the next month salaries, spending to fund a war situation, spending on emergency economic crisis is Treasury Bills. that's how safe it is. Government cannot fail to meet this obligation because the effect will bring down the economy faster than anything else.

By now u suppose don send recharge card o. LOL
