In addition to what you have said episiotomy is more controlled than allowing you to tear.

Ny concern though is why do they just give it anyway? Most esp to FTM.

I've heard you can do perineal massage so that on d d-day you are not going to have as much wahala. But how far true is this?

I know someone who had a VBAC and she tore from front to back .... 4th degree tear even with the aid of birthing device.

Only God fit help

@nicoleswizzi I pray God grants u an easy and successful L n D.

@omoloulah how are u getting on? It will end in praise
Tank u mama na d prayer be DAT o

RANTING TIME!
This post will be long, please bear with me!

Mama's, please whether we are 10,20,30 or 40 weeks pregnant, I use God beg us, let's be sensitive to all that is happening in our precious state.
Pregnancy is not a try and error or cut & nail matter.
If you feel your doctor isn't listening or the hospital isn't dealing with your case reasonably at any point in time, please I beg u in God's name, please get a second opinion, ask for reviews from as much people as you can, come ask mama's here on the thread if anyone has an opinion am sure they'll share, then google, google! I search a lot of google, type the question in different ways and search multiple times to get an answer, don't read the first page of answers alone, check in as many pages as possible, u might likely get an answer!
It is both sad and disheartening the way our healthcare system works in this our wonderful country , I am deeply hurt for how Roseey0's case was mismanaged, it was pure insensitive and careless abi wicked sef.
But as the Bible tells us; the kingdom suffereth violence and "violent taketh" by force!
We have to take our health into our hands, since our system suffereth negligence, I am not saying stay home and treat ur self o,your case might look like someone else's but may be different ,so don't conclude on ur own, all I am saying research about any concerns and discuss with your healthcare provider, ask them questions, ask and ask, if they are not responsive or proactive, please follow your instincts [most importantly pray to God for the spirit of discernment and for him to help ur choices. .

Then secondly we have been too lax about prayers in the thread, let us not underestimate the power of prayers!
Though some don't believe it, our challenges "if any" may not require medical intervention alone, it may also need spiritual also.

Ephesians 6:12 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

BUT...

Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 66:9(a)- Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord :

Exodus 23:25-27 - And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

Psalms 127:3 - Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord : and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

My people let us cultivate a praying habit, it doesn't have to be long or have Bible quotes, it could just be 2 or 3 lines, it is a blessing.
Let us also pray for medical personnels, that shall attend to us from antenatal care to labour and delivery and even postnatal care.

Just as it is more blessed to give than to receive, it is more "Effective to pray, than to say Amen! "

Benignasweety:
My baby has engaged at 23weeks... have a new edd 5th June according to scan yesterday. plz why this much difference? from 27-16-5th of June?
Lol @ engaged.
A baby being head down doesn't mean he/she is engaged, it's probably just a comfortable position at that moment, baby still has a loooot of room to switch positions as he likes, till the place is to tight for changing positions, which is like 3+ months away.
Baby engages when he drops lower down in d cervix ,like d head is plugged in ur cervix.
EDD changes so much later on in pregnancy because fetal measurements may not be 100% accurate depending on the skill of the sonographer. However if u know ur lmp, then work with that.
A few days ago I had my anomaly scan done by a doctor who specializes in maternal and fetal medicine , I got the most accurate EDD (same as lmp) cos of his specialty I guess. He asked my lmp i told him and he said I wasn't correct maybe I forgot because my baby measured 1 week different , that was wen I now told him I had a 35 day cycle and not 28 days, so I ovulate a week later, he now said "u see? " Lol.

Iyomomoreloaded you have spoken wisely. Be it the first time, second time or even umpteenth time, no preg is the same! If in doubt ask someone, ask your doc, ask google. Then discern, do not just take their words for it.

When I bled @28weeks or so, after all the checks and there was no evidence for placenta previa or so, i had the gut feeling it was due to the whooping cough injection i was given. Drs n nurses said it was a coincidence so did my husb but i was adamant and researched and found it could have resulted in me losing the baby.

Na prayer finish the pregnancy. I couldnt afford anything happening, and since my son's name meant God is my rock i kept calling his name and asking God to b my rock throughout until he came.

May God direct our steps and give us the wisdom and understandng we need

My BS

My edd at 20 weeks was 25th January. At my 39th week ANC, still no show, my gynae refered me for scan. Monday 23rd, went 4 the scan me and hubby, all was well and baby had engaged but for one problem...lo was now weighing 3.75 kg as against the 2.25 in my 34th week and the sonographer was saying with this, it has to be CS #hospital policy and that he knows my gynaecologist very well he will definitely recommend CS. My eyes welled with tears, I begin cry, DH both comforted and blamed me for eating too much Christmas food! I cried the more. We decided to go see gynae on Wednesday ANC in the evening to kukuma talk plans 4 d CS. When we kpekused dat night, I noticed a huge blob of mucus in my jajaina wen I went to wash but I wondered if this was the mucus plug or not.

24th my mum came, still no show yet. We prayed that night for a sign and smooth delivery. By 5:22 am I woke up n noticed I was cramping, went to the loo only 4 me to see blood n mucus fall out. I was overjoyed n woke DH to tell him, we decided to go to hospital that morning instead of evening.

In the hospital that morning, I was told matron n other experienced nurses would come in the afternoon bcoz of the evening clinic thingi. The nurse on duty did VE for me, 2cm dilated. She called a female doctor (my gynae's PA) but they insisted I go home bcoz I was just 2cm n according to them if I was in labour, I would know! I was disappointed but I insisted on waiting for evening ANC mainly because deep inside me, I did not trust the doc or the nurse either, who struggles to check ordinary bp.I prefered waiting for matron or my gynae. I told my mum this and she agreed.

When the matron came, I told her I had seen show, she did VE n said sure enough, I was still 2cm but they have to keep me for monitoring. To me though, I was satisfied, n I felt no need to even see doctor again that day so I decided to go but she insisted . I stubbornly refused cos I don taya since 8am fa... She said OK but come back when contraction increases. So I phoned hubby to come pick us. Note that all the while nobody looked at the baby's weight on d result n me kuku no wan talk as I had faith I will deliver naturally.

Hubby came and insisted on seeing matron himself, n by the time he returned, she had refered us for another scan outside. According to her, my bump and weight gain doesn't reflect the foetal weight and adding up-to 1.5kg foetal weight in a month is unrealistic 4 my case. I was scared but we did the scan n to our greatest surprise, the baby's weight was amazingly 3.0kg as against 3.75 earlier scan which we did in the hospital's own lab by their so-called consultant sonographer!

My gynae had arrived when we returned by 6pm. He looked at the two results n noted the difference, also according to scan, my water had broken and my lo was being suffocated so he ordered that I be induced immediately. I was handed over by matron to those on night duty and by 8pm one mighty doctor with fat fingers came into the ward, flipped my dress and inserted pitocin 2 tabs into my vjay, so painful.

I was hving contractions alright but b4 I could say Jack Robinson, I was screaming down the entire hospital, chai! I have neva had such manner of pain my entire life! DH was there fanning me n holding my leg at the same time; I wanted my back massaged but anytime he tries to do it I shout "don't touch me oo" lol. He kept on, the caution blood he was supposed to donate long 4gotten, he shut his eyes so tight...he didn't want to look down at his labouring wife, my mum couldn't stand being there atall, she went outside praying. None of us had eaten since breakfast so the nurses forced me to take an unpalatable bottle of malt. I kept calling on Jesus to help me. As time went on, both hubby n mum kept disturbing the nurses to come n check but they didn't believe that I was ready as per ftm things until blood started squirting out of my vjay n I peed on the bed there 4 them. I was changed into wrapper n taken to labour room...didnt even tie d wrapper well n hubby was trying to cover me bcoz there were other people around.. I no send o, I almost ran there b4 d next contraction will hit me.

I got onto the bed but gosh, the nurses were too slow, they searched for my vein for up-to 30 mins. By this time I was shouting "I want to poo o, it's pushing me" they said I shouldn't. Finally in what seemed like forever, about 3 of them put their fingers into my vjay n asked me to push on the next contraction. I did but they said am not doing, dat I will break my baby's neck o...When I heard that eh! See me pushing.. Two times and my baby came out at around 12:05am screaming away n sucking! Lol. I started thanking God as I touched him n they took him away.
It was another 1 hour b4 I came out bcoz I was bleeding seriously as baby gave me serious tear. My mighty doctor was called to stitch me up. But b4 he could start, I started getting weak n cold, like I was dying n I screamed again n again "am getting weak o!" they started running around while I called on God n spoke life to myself thru his word that I wanted to raise my child and almost at once I started feeling my strength return b4 they fixed a drip, I continued quoting the word throughout. I was stitched n bleeding stopped. I even remember passing out when I got down from the bed but God took over. Then I was wheeled back to the ward were DH n mum were waiting happily. He was so emotional and kept telling me how sorry he felt for me amidst lots of promises, Lol. I just thank God for taking control over all situations and fulfilling his covenant of a supernatural conception and delivery in my life.

Congrats omoloulah and other mama's who have put to bed. Sharp sharp delivery to the rest of Feb mamas.
