You don't move from light to darkness.

I n the religious industry, the calibre of these men of God: Bishops/Pastors Oyedepo , Kumuyi, Enoch Adeboye, Ajayi Crowther, Mary Slessor, Matthew Hassan Kukah, Uma Ukpai, Idahosa and numerous other famous religious are few and far in between amongst Canadian/Nigerians living abroad cheesy

If you want to be an average Joe you can relocate to Canada but if you want a chance to impact your generation positively then Nigeria offers this much more than Canada does

well known for what?

okay the 2nd bold sums up every other profession for the 200million people in this country? what an arguement

That's when you know your economy is a joke. When you have to be an entertainer or politician to be successful. That's why everyone in naija is either a nollywood actor, afro beats musician, or doing "business" aka unemployed and looking to make ends meet somehow.

This thread is becoming more comical by the minute.

After losing points on the economy and education front, the attention of madam Pidgin and her crew appear to have shifted to another instantly concocted metric to weigh against whether our project manager with his N400k/m job should remain in 9ja or not - fame and recognition. LOL

I came across this thought I should share. There uncountable videos on you tube where you can search and find life about migrants in Canada, even for those who came in through express entry. There is so much to learn.

In two days? Yet another misinformed Nigerian filled with lofty tales of the West.
In fact, he won't only get it in two days, he will pluck it from the flowers growing at the airport lawn on his entry.

Well, I don't doubt your story, the only thing is, you are obviously dreaming or sleep typing. Just go right now to that tap, or a well, fetch enough water and pour it over your head buddy. Smack your acne riddled face twice, it will get you back to reality.
It is people like you who live in Nepal and Vietnam that fill people living in Africa with false hopes only for them to meet their maker in the dry sandy dunes of the Sahara in their quest to cross to Europe for the stupendous riches.

How do you people feel comfortable living off the altruism and selflessness of these Westerners that made their lands such nice places? Where is your pride?Your shame? How can you dismiss your heritage, your children's cultural roots, how can you look them in the eye and say you abandoned your fatherland and co-opted the whiteman's. This nothing but parasitism, selfishness, spinelessness and it is reprehensible. You bring dishonor to your african names.

Good evening everyone ,please I need some honest advice on what to do regarding my canada application. I applied via paper route on 12th of February and I got a message to Pick up my processed passport at VFS on 9th of March, unfortunately I was denied and the reason marked for the denial was " I am not satisfied that you have answered all questions truthfully, as required by subsection 16(1) of the Act .Specifically,I am not satisfied that the following information is truthful :
You have not answered truthfully to section background ,questions 2b)....when I checked to see where that section background(2b) was, it was where asked if have been denied visa before by any country and I said No ,but have been denied by US,to be honest ,as commonly said ,that experiencen is the best teacher ,that didn't work for me this time l think, because when I was about to fill my form I told a friend of mine that works with a traveling agency and at a point when filling the form ,I contacted him countless times when I needed clarifications at any point ,so he told me to tick the No box for the aforementioned reason for denial and Becos I think he was experience I did as he told me and said No,he said since the time I was denied US visa isn't 6months or more ,it won't be available for US for now . Please my question now is that is there a way out ? Though I'm married but I applied alone ,because my wife won't be able to travel with me due to her masters education that's taking much of her time and I really want to travel to celebrate Easter in Canada .please to all Ogas here I need your advice @ awelekiti ,jayfierce , kokorita, ladyco and other experienced gurus

Hey, stop listening to stories on the Internet try to get actual experience.
I have discovered that most people writing bad things about Nigeria are the frustrated folks who would rather cross to Europe through Lybia than to be productive to themselves.

You say we don't have running water here? Well, that's a big lie, we do. And if anyone does not then they can supply their own water by digging a bore hole for themselves or their communities (no one pays tax for this and you get constant water for life once this is done). They can form groups to achieve this if funds are limited.

Public schools are totally free here too and most of our leaders today attended these schools, people can also make choices based on their budgets on the kind of schools they want their kids to attend, they can also home school if they chose. As for light, we were paying only N87/ltr for fuel to run our gen in 2015, I believe we can get back to that again with good leadership. Some places do have good light supply. Alternative energy like solar and wind is being used privately.

Alternative medicine here is an option which people use (just like in China and India) our grand parents lived very long too. As for Western medicine, some states do give free basic health care to pregnant women and children under 5. Most government and state hospitals are heavily subsidized

Nigeria is not hell, contrary to what you might think so someone earning N400K a month can expand his wealth greatly in an almost tax free country. Everything depends on him and his God

Pidgin 2 is just an attention seeker.

I will be in Canada next week and I am very much excited.

I need constant power to develop my career. Nigeria has not been able to provide that for me since I was born and I pay my power bills monthly. Sick country cry

Anyone in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada here? Send me a PM; I am excited to connect. wink

In conclusion, Pidgin 2 go to bed; you are spewing thrash.

I have enjoyed the arguments from both sides of the divide except the insults. I can also relate with both sides and while both sides have made some valid points, I think some points have been exaggerated.
No doubt, Nigeria is blessed with natural resources as well as human resources that's capable of putting her in the league of the best countries to live in but you have to admit that having that potential doesn't automatically translate to achieving that potential. Nigeria is also a country where a nobody can become wealthy overnight but that's mostly based on sharp practices such as securing contracts fraudulently, going into politics with a view to embezzling, using your 9-5 job to embezzle though there are also legitimate ways to getting wealthy. Also note that this opportunity to wealth is limited to a small few by virtue of connection while the larger unfortunate people, though equally as hardworking and smart if not more, continue with the hustle with no end in sight. It just seems the individuals with the stance that one can make it in Nigeria hold that position because they have made it in their assessment and it seems selfish to only think of the prosperity oneself without thinking of that of the nation and its people.
Had it been Nigeria currently has good leadership with good intentions for the citizenry or there's a possibility of such in the foreseeable future, then there's hope for Nigeria but even at that the people are so used to corruption as a way of life that they themselves don't want it to end. It's only a patriotic dream for any Nigerian to wish that things would get better but it's clear that's not going to happen soon if at all.
If you're thinking of enriching only yourself amidst a failing nation then Nigeria offers that platform but if you want the good of your posterity then Canada offers that.

There was no real debate. Pidgin will be opening for basket mouth and was practicing her stand up. No person with a brain will seriously be debating what Canada has to offer oppose to Nigeria. NOBODY. But like you said if you're benefitting from the corruption the naija is the place for you. But if you want to prosper based on merits and you want peace, stability, and prosperity, again based on merits, Canada is the way to go.

Close to 50 million DOLLARS cash found in a politicians home. Only God knows how much more he has in accounts abroad. The elected officials who's job is to make people's lives better doesn't even care about the people or the country. Yet we're supposed to believe things will or are getting better ? How ? These foolish naija patriates are comical.

Tell your friend to stay back and make Nigeria great again. All hands must be on deck, no running away [s]especially if he voted for the present government.[/s] grin

Does he really want to move to a place where the temperature can drop to -30C during winter? Can he stand the cold? Does he want to move to a place where the meals he grew up eating all his life are not easily available? Does he want to move to a country that has fewer public holidays than Nigeria meaning that he'll work more days than back home? Does he want to be far from his family and kinsmen and in their place have to deal with people from different parts of the globe, some of whom may have customs and behaviours that are strange to him?

Instead of all this, in Nigeria, he can be at the forefront of change helping steer the country in the right direction.

He can help make Nigeria great again. . . besides Pidgin2 needs him around. grin

The cold isn't bad. Unless someone's going to Yukon where it's quite cold, winter in general isn't so bad.

Many public holidays: New Years (January), Family Day (February), Easter (April), Canada Day - My birthday smiley (July 1), Labour Day (September), Thanksgiving (October), Christmas (December). Pheeew, that's all I can think of! And they often fall close to the weekend, meaning you would get Friday, Saturday, Sunday off; or it could be Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. I don't think Nigeria has these many public holidays.

About him being away from his family, if he's married, he can always bring his wife and kids over later. Or he can be visiting them till they arrive.
