100k rent on 600k salary is still high.

How about child care, school fees, feeding, clothing, entertainment, helping relatives, savings, investment etc?

Does your wife work? If no, you both need to strategize.

My wife deos notvwork. That is why thing never measure up for me. We really need to strategise. But follow principle which says. If ur 3 months salary cannot pay for your a year rent. It mean u are leaving byond ur means.

I think as a family man he doesn't need a cheaper accommodation. The maths adds up: he earns 50k monthly and 600k annually his rent of 150k annually is fair enough for a family man which should either be a "self contain" apartment or a "bed room" flat depending on location.

Oga, you're not being miserly...you're living within your means.

Thank you bros. Atleast. There is a popular sayin that if ur 3 months rent cant pay for your a year rent. It means you are leaving byong ur means

Pls house is it a wise decision i have taken never to rent a house of more that #150k per annum when my annual salary is #600k. How financial helpful has this been to me or am just trying to be a miser ?

young men go through a lot to fend for their families these days, I'm really moved with so much pity when I see situations like this.
I pray that God almighty will lift you from this level to a greater height where you will be blessed enough to pay rents for people, I use this platform as a contact for divine upliftment in your life in Jesus mighty name ...Amen.

cool op u r wasteful with ur income, ur rent shld nt exceed 100k if u earn 600k per annum ie 50k monthly

Financial experts recommend dt at most ur 2months salaries shld pay ur annual rent

Personally I recommend dt ur one month salary shld pay ur annual rent if u dnt want to find urself at 65 still a tenant angry angry angry
this is a big lie. financial gurus and real estate experts always quote that no body should be spending beyond 25-30% of his salary on house rent. otherwise he is living above his means.
judging by that fact I will say op is prudent

Those idiots quoting me, a married man should be wise enough to know what is good for his family. He can't take this simple decision. Olodos

I'm speaking from what I experienced. I don't know where you work or how much you earn. Let me tell you my experience.
My office is in Abuja. Definitely, I can't get a house close to my office in Garki. I would have to spend my 6 months salary. So what I did is to rent an apartment, in JIKWOYE, not too far. I have to pay twice my salary. That's was my best option. People even suggested an apartment that would cost 200k more than what I earn.
It's a difficult choice.

Your's is good. My rent is 4 times my monthly salary. I'm currently grappling with it, but I have been paying it for over 3yrs now. It leaves me with no savings and so much pressure to explore other streams of income. undecided
