I remember the last time I went for an interview for a different role in my organization and I was asked this question. I had rehearsed the question at home many times because somehow I suspected it was going to come up.

I had prepared documents to show proof of why I was actually interested and interviewing for the role. I had gone with an arsenal of what I am currently doing to show my passion, steps taken and I ensured that I communicated it strongly to the recruiter. Leaning forward and looking into his eyes when I was asked about it.

For a new graduate, focus on your personal strength and skills. Sometimes mentioning what you are currently doing in terms of professional courses or ongoing skill development or leadership positions you have taken may help.

So something like this should be fine:



Trust me, this should be good but the way and manner you pass this message across as well as your gestures will make a whole lot of difference.

Can someone tell us what has been successfully done with this response?

Thank you for this post...this question is the most important question in an interview session, as it sets the tone for the remaining part of the session. If one gets it right, hemight probably kill the interview and vice-versa.

But please can you share a real example for an experienced hirer, like you did for a graduate trainee? Thank you.

Some people will have no clue at all what you are writing, they just copy everything, especially when they want to do it so fast that they may not be caught cheating. Imagine you cramming that and when you are asked the question, you say "My name is Femi" when your name is actually Soji.

Whatever your way of thinking, never bring issues of religion or politics into a session in which you're the interviewee, unless it's for a job with your church or political party. Those issues are not only bad ideas that can set members of an interview panel against each other, they can also portray you as close minded, and probably a zealot/fanatic.

I used a wrong example to make clear my point and its noted.

Three simple steps:

Start with your past, talk about the present, then talk about what you will do in future and how it relates to the job which you are being interviewed for.

Nice information. Helpful too in a direct way. Don't copy it blindly but streamline the response to how it affects the role you are interviewing for. While your personal history adapted to this response may be true, it may not align with the role. So your response if interviewing 5 times for disparate job roles must vary 5 times too.

It is not enough to earn and carry about a certificate! That's phase 1.
Life is about relevance and proffering solutions. Someone right now somewhere is looking for someone who can do something for him/her and get paid! Opportunity Meets with preparation! Is your worth only in that paper certificate even though you hardly have a REAL skill?

Therefore;
While you search for that job and keep waiting (very frustrating), DO NOT WAIT IN PERPETUITY! You might consider investing in knowledge-based skill that has unending returns. EACH DAY , YOUR CAPITAL IS YOUR KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & BARE HANDS!
