Tradition... Dike stared at this woman with interest, then he sighted, rubbing his palms together again 'do you also know that i have no interest in this marriage as well?' She raised a brow 'really? But i heard....' 'yeah, i'm married to six wives' He rolled his eyes casually 'you must have also heard that i have no interest in Igweship. By the way, are you Arsenal fan?' 'me?' She looked down at her jersey and smiled genuinely for the first time since she entered the 'of course! Fly emirates' 'losers. Did you watch the match where they lost to ...... club twice, 5-1 in both the two?' He smiled. He didnt know why he was being nice anyway. 'funny enough, i dont watch football. I just love wearing jerseys. Believe me you, i have almost every club's jersey and i'm planning on getting Manu's new jersey' 'so that means you belong to no club at all?' He snorted 'boring!' She laughed and he thought he loved the musical sound of it. There was silence for a few seconds before she broke it 'so what do you say?' 'i would like for you to reject the proposal as well. You see, we really dont have to get married. We dont love each other' 'if i outrightly reject the proposal, my mum's gonna have a heart attack' 'but if your sister takes your place?' 'things might get better' 'i see you as someone who loves your mum so much' 'you're absolutely correct' 'and you're ready to do anything to please her?' 'true' 'are you ready to jeopardise your happiness for her sake?' She swallowed 'if i have to do that to make her happy then i'd readily do it. I tend to sacrific so much for people i care about' 'really? Dont you think that not caring about your own happiness is you being selfish to yourself?' 'i put other people above myself' 'are you a Christian?' She chuckled 'everyone is. Yes, i'm a Christian' 'so that means i'm selfish then. Because i'm not ready to sacrifice my happiness for anybody's satisfaction, never!' 'conceited' 'you can say that again' He nodded. 'well, i'm not like that. I care' 'and i wish you luck with that' 'what do you say again?' 'about?' 'the marriage, to my sister. All you have to do is choose my sister over me. Just tell them you dont like me, that i'm rude or anything, just say anything bad 'bout me and...' 'i love your accent' She suddenly looked irritated 'would you just listen without interruptin'?' He chuckled 'sorry' 'so as i was saying, i...' 'whats the name of your boyfriend, or rather your fiance?' He cut in again. 'thats none of your business sir!' 'then you really are rude dear. Dont worry, i'll tell your mum how she did a terrible job of raising you' 'thats not what i meant!' She gasped. 'and i'm certainly not interested in your sister as well. If you are rude, then your sister would be as well, maybe even worse. So i'd rather they choose another bride from a more respectful and resonponsible family' 'that was harsh' 'harsh reality, the truth' She rolled her eyes 'well then sir, its very obvious you do not like me and truthfully i dont like you too. If you dont want to deal with me after marriage, then you'll have to deal with my sister. However, if you're not ready to marry my sister then be lest assured that i wont let this chance slip out of my family's fingers' He suddenly felt disappointed. He'd thought she was different but it turned out that she was just the same as the others. Opportunist! The faint likeness he had for her turned to hatred. He stood up, anger welling in him 'i need you out of my office this minute!' She looked shocked 'what?' 'you heard me! Leave my office right now or have the securities do you the honours' 'Dike...' 'dont call my name! Get out of this place right now! Bloody opportunist! Blood sucker!' 'dont you dare call me names!' She raised her fingers as she stood up 'i was even planning on leaving your filth office already because i cant stand the sight of you. Lame' She eyed him and catwalked out of the office leaving her beautiful fragrance for him to inhale. 'damn!' her muttered under his breath 'did she have to be like everyone else?' He took a deep breath. TBC 7 Likes |
