CHAPTER SIX_Tradition.
'come here and have a look at Shiv's wedding dress' Mia heard her mother say as she walked past her mother's open door. She froze. Wedding dress! Her heart pounded.

She retraced her steps back into her mother's room.

She stood by the door watching her mum place some jewelries on the bed.

'are you just going to stand there?! Come over her immediately' Her mother barked.

She went closer. Her eyes ran over the blue and white beautifully designed lace on the bed, well-tailored. The blouse was was an elbow-length, the neckline a bit low, the hand being transparent. With little stone beads around the bust area.

'its beautiful' She gasped.

'yes it is. Tailored by the best tailor in Asaba' Her mother said proudly.

'okay'

'and the jewelry. The Lolo personally selected it for your sister. Its diamond, made in India. From DD jewelers, very expensive. I've never had anything so expensive before' Her mother smiled 'but i'm going to buy this particular necklace very soon. I absolutely love it!'

'okay'

Her mother shot her an angry stare 'dont you have anything more important to say than just okay, okay?!'

She inhaled deeply.

'infact, get out! I dont even know why i called you here in the first place. Mtcheeew. Get out of here now!' Her mother hissed.

Mia quickly retraced her steps out of the room. Tears blinded her vision. She was losing everything. All her happiness was slipping out of her fingers. Everything was going haywire!

She didnt know how her legs led her to Shivani's room. Her door was slightly open so she just entered. Shivani was sitting on her bed crosslegged and reading a book.
She raised her head up when she noticed Mia's presence. The duo had completely ignored each other the whole day.
'Mia?'

Mia sobbed 'are you getting married to Dike tomorrow?'

Shiv set the book aside. What was wrong with her sister? 'yes i am'

'why are you doing this? Why are you doing this to yoursel? Shiv, you wont be happy. That man isnt going to treat you right'

'leave that for me to decided'

'i'm concerned about you!' She sniffed wiping the mucus flowing from her nose with her back hand 'i'm concerned about your happiness. You are my sister and i love you so much. You mean the world to me. This...Dike you're marrying isnt the man for you. Choudhary is'

Shiv felt guilt well up in her heart. Was Mia right? Was she ruining herself? She suddenly felt bad for quarelling with her sister the day before. The girl only wanted good for her, nothing more.

She climbed down from her bed and walked towards the window staring as the day slowly gave way for the night 'Mia, i have no other choice. I'm doing this for mum, not for myself, not for anyone'

'you're ruining your own happiness for mum! You're sacrificing your happiness for mum! Love your neighbour as yourself, not love your neighbour more than you love yourself, Shivani understand! Understand that you're sinning against yourself. What you're doing aint right, stop this'

Shiv felt the tears burn 'mother's been through so much for us Mia. After dad was paralysed, she virtually ran the family. Taking care of everything singlehandedly. Its our obligation as her kids to make her happy'

'how can you make her happy when you're not happy yourself? Shiv dont do this. Go back to Choudhary. I'll marry Dike myself'

Shivani turned to her sister 'if you claim marrying Dike is a bad idea, why then do you want him so badly for yourself?'

Mia's eyes widened saucers 'what rubbish are you spouting now? Who told you i want him for myself? I'm only trying to protect you. I'm even trying to sacrifice my happiness for yours, so you dont have to regret marrying him for the rest of your life! I'm doing this for you Shivani'

'i'm sorry but i wont let you sacrifice your happiness for my sake' She walked to her sister 'Mia, i know you've never been happy. Right from childhood, i saw how much you've always envied me. Envied everything i had. I shared almost everything i had with you as well. Because i knew you wished you have those things too. You've not really led a happy life and i want you to. To be compensated with a happy marriage for all those years you've been unhappy' She shook her head not wanting the tears to drop 'i wont let you marry Dike, when i know you wont be happy, never! I'd rather die than allow that happen. I want the best man for you Mia'

Mia glared at her sister with so much hatred. Which she was unable to see because her eyes were focused on the ground 'you want Dike for yourself! You dont want me to be happy. Thats why you'd rather die than allow me marry him, you're so wicked!' And with that she dashed out of the room, the thought of murder in her heart.

Chumzypinky, All These Small Chonkolo Primary School Dropouts That Can Hardly Make A Sentence Out Of "Come" And "Go" Are Just Seeking For Cheap Popularity, And U R Giving Them That.
Simply Ignore Them, They Are Just Like A Swarm Of Flies, Looking For Shit To Feast On.

Where This My Nigga Na? @theblessedman Me I Dey Miss U Oh.
