I believe in substance over procedure

you are entitled to your perspective and opinion
a different perspective hits at the issue of why a so called non career person is holding the post and the effect on rank and file moral. The Senate claims career officers have complained to them and they are entitled to take a position. It is not a good precedent to set or follow. If the idea is that the customs is rotten and needs reform there is nothing to suggest Ali is the man for the job in terms of ideas or style.He is not capable of meaningful strategic Change .
We must see this for what it is,resistance to the idea of outsiders heading the Customs. If we are to go down that road it should have been debated and the legislative body carried along.The way it was done was too arbitrary. Who is Ali and what qualifies him for the post? Why are the people's reps not allowed toscrutinize such an unusual appointment

I quite agree with you sir. It's all about perception, however i am here not dwelling on the propriety of his appointment, No. I am only concerned on the "wear and I won't wear uniform" saga, which to my mind adds no additional value to what they want to discuss, namely custom duty payments.

These re political appointments na, I am glad u said there re competent customs officer That can head this agency bt his is an appointment.. Moreover this shouldn't be an issue at all, it's more of an ego clash between the two sides and with no side ready to back down..

And on the issue of Sanusi being relieved,he was three months to retirement and so he was placed on leave compulsorily which ensured that he didn't get back on the seat because his tenure had expired by the time his leave ended.
