Stop being a liability to your husband because you will not be respected in the marriage.

I have a close relative who got married some few years back. At the onset of the marriage it was all lovey-dovey.But the lady is the type that believes that husband must provide all for the family while her own degree is meant to decorate her room.
Fastforward to 4 years of marriage, the 'love' has cleared from the guy's eyes and reality is begining to set in. Ofcourse, the couple now has 2 kids to cater for and Buhari's government is not helping matters. Bills are to be paid, such as exhorbitant house rent, school fees, baby foods and diapers etc. The guy is a hustler o, but the truth is that no amount of 'hustling' from just one partner will be enough to sustain a modern family.

I am writing this because as i went home for holidays the guy was advising me to be careful in making choice of marriage partner. Infact he specifically advised me never to marry a lady who isn't working. He's kind of regreting his marriage

There is nothing like channelling of anger here. I wouldn't don't say marry a lady that is not working, but she has to work or join in the hustling. Apart from the burden sef an idle mind is a devils workshop

u can't advise anyone on his choice of marriage.. There are men out there who don't their wives to work and will provide a means for her to do business.. It all depends on his wishes..

Its only struggling men dat will want to marry a woman who is working as well . ah mean we all keep setting up a lot of conditions for ourselves when itbcomes to marriage and its really really having a negative effect..

The guy is a good description of a hustler! He is providing for his family but the pressure is much!

Imagine being married to a lady who spent years in the university, got a degree but can't hustle with her man to maintain a luxury home which she so much desires. Naturally, the man will be fed up and lose respect for her.

I think parents should learn how to give their daughters the right orientation.

I don't think you read the article well bro. Read in between lines and you will see there was nothing of such made by the OP as regards your statement. Also, it's advisable to marry a lady who is financially independent.

In our traditional setting, isn't it the man's responsibility to provide for his family. And the woman, the home keeper? It's obvious the man has failed in his duty and has himself to blame.

If he wants her to share his responsibility, he should be ready to share hers too.

I wont stop my wife from working if she wants to work, but im kinda old school and i believe the financial reponsibility of the home should rest squarely on the mans shoulders.

Besides, being a housewife is a hectic, full time job and i respect that. Raising kids no be moinmoin.

I just hope to meet a woman who will make my hustle for our family worth it, not one who's sleeping with the neighborhood while you're working your ass off.

a man who cant provide for his family loses self respect.

Even if your wife works and earn more than you a thousand times, it is your duty as a man to provide for your family. The woman, if she loves you will chip in and assist you.

If the man hustles and yet the expenditure at home seems to be galloping away to never never land, if i were him, i'd call madam, sit her down, and see how we can cut costs and reduce the drain on the family's purse.

That's the problem! People are always quick to refer to 'traditional setting' when it suits their selfish interests. Let's be realistic my friend! whoever set that 'traditional' standard never envisaged that a time like this would come when running a home will be so expensive.

Fyi, the guy is a very hardworking guy! But he needs to be relieved by his supposed help mate!
