myopic thought.

I am sure you understand multiple income stream and cash flow. The fact that we were analysing the use of all money in an account did not mean all the money from all other accounts including statutory fees.

Who is talking of investing house rent and skool fees. are we talking about mmm here?

I am glad my coupons from FGN Bonds pays my rent and children's school fees annually with left over to be reinjected.

grin grin grin grin please educate us how your coupon paid those with left over. Did they pay you upfront? or your landlord and the schools waited for maturity.

Bros, Feb2020 FGN Bond coupon payment is 15.54%, locked down till 2020.

Coupons are paid in February and August every year since the year 2015.

N8 million naira bond gives me a total of N1,243,200 as annual interest. Interest is paid twice ie February coupon is N621,600. August Coupon is N621,600.

My house rent is 600K and its paid in September annually. Child skool fees for the year is not over 300K.

The difference goes back into Treasury Bills with other incomes.

By February 2020, my N8 million will be credited back to me with the last coupon payment of N621,600. (Bullet payment)

note that the N8 million naira was an aggregate of different TBills i have bought over the years which i locked down for a long term bond.

This is one of more.

Excellent move...

exactly how to play the Bond Investments..very good for some targeted expenses..while allowing you to use your present operational cashflow for some other investments..

Been using my Bond investments coupons for the past 3 years for sch fees settlements

This is the reason i said before that your type work with gtb and not firstbank. At gtb u are advised to invest everything that is available.
Finally the school and house rent has to wait till maturity.

I love your spirit.

As at 2015, the tbills rate was lower than 15.5%, the recent inflation only made NTB more attractive.

Just my thought though

Presently, TB is paying more so i do TB now but when i bought the Bond, it was in 2015 and TB was not doing better.

Again, TB fluctuates alot. Remember that last year January and February, TB was as low as 10/11%. Its just for one to understand the economics dynamics per period. Treasury bills going for 18% presently does not mean that it will remain same. This period will go down in history as peak period even though it has happened in the past but not for an extensive period like this one. It wont be surprising to see TB going to as low as 10 to 11% in 12 months time.

With Bond, you simply get a steady coupon payment for the duration. TB and Bond are equally good, only that you need to study the economic indices so as to know which of them will be appetizing per time.

Jollof rice and white rice good but when i go to party, i like to eat jollof rice because i no want make stew mistakenly pour my shirt if i eat white rice and stew. If i sit down for house, i like hot white rice and stew anyday.

You didn't read his last post well... See the part that answers your question.

With Bond, you simply get a steady coupon payment for the duration. TB and Bond are equally good, only that you need to study the economic indices so as to know which of them will be appetizing per time.

In essence, it doesn't fluctuate like Tbills. It is fixed. Regards.

Please can anyone please give me an update. I bank with GTBank and I will like to invest 5 Million in Treasury Bills.
My Question:
When next is the auction date?
Is it possible to invest my 5 million or it must only be 50 Million and above?
Did anyone from GTBank invest less the 50 Million in the last auction and it went through?

Please update needed as soon as possible.
Thanks

There is TB auction tomorrow. Since we, small guys, with less than 50M are unable to bid directly in the primary market, you can send an urgent request to your account officer immediately. The expectation is that GT could add your 5M to the amount the bank intends to bid for tomorrow, and sell to you in the secondary market with a small margin. Please be aware we are at the mercy of the banks now, and we only have to hope the banks will be considerate with the % margin the banks will deduct from the their successful bidding rate

See evidence that the FGN Savings bond cannot command much patronage due to the rate.

Result of yesterday's auction below

91 days - 13.55%

182 days - 17.2%

364 days - 18.69%

Notice the increase in rate for 364 days. Now waiting to see what the banks offered their customers. All the best to those of us that sent in their bids.
