Hello people. Don't despair. The issue of Nitel pension will soon be settled. It has been included in 2017 budget. The Minister of State for budget and planning(herself a former nitel staff) confirmed this news. What was included is only one year pension. this means other previous outstanding years were not added because the amount is huge. Once budget is passed, they will call for pensioner verification and the payments will start through PTAD. So if budget is passed and signed by possibly april and verification starts immediately, then by June all verified pensioners will start to receive monthly payments. They may pay 6 months up till June. For real, this year Nitel pensioners will smile.

Some people have valuable info but will never let it out.I thought you people are adults but often times you put out lies.try and. Move close to nitel pensioners and get firsthand info.they have their meeting every month and have representatives always in touch with PTAD.I marveled when you adults put out unconfirmed info. Anyways, verification for police has been done, core civil servants is ongoing (ministries). You will soon be attended to.

Hello mates, you may as well get your papers and BVN numbers ready. Plus a bank statement for one year to avoid giving them a dormant account number.

Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 11:29am On Mar 20, 2017
I said it earlier that this process will reach June. All this people talking of march don't know what they are saying. PTAD is doing verification of Federal Civil Servants by the geopolitical zones now. They have done 4 zones and are currently in southwest and will finish in North Central as the last. When PTAD are through with federal civil servants, they will start parastatal's verification of which NITEL, Nigeria Airways etcs are among. It is after verification that people will start to be paid. This may take another 3-4 months from now.

Thanks. At least i can confirm the fact that they are currently in the SW.
But when you say Nitel pensioners, does that include dis-engaged staff ?
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 11:35pm On Mar 20, 2017
the pensioners are those who have spent up to 10 years in service before disengagement

Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by Ancientdeb123: 7:10am On Mar 22, 2017
Ptad are not in charge of nitel pensioners but in charge of federal civil servant dat is why dey go state by state
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by Ancientdeb123: 7:27am On Mar 22, 2017
Wen nepa did their verification it was d bpe dat was in charge not ptad. On nitel the cbn at january told d lawyer & nitel union president dat they were processing 2 ensure accuracy with d names &amount 2 be paid 2 each person & as at march 20th the cbn said dey shuld come for verification date on wednesday & the retired nitel staff will be paid pension while disengaged staff will be given bulk amount of their money
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by Ancientdeb123: 7:35am On Mar 22, 2017
The budget is going 2 be funded from various areas like mtef etc & nitel's moni can be removed from mtef. Again no ptad is in charge of nitel becos under which parastal we u categorize nitel which does not exist again d main work of ptad is 2 catch ghost workers among pensioners who have retired among federal civil servants
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 8:39am On Mar 22, 2017
Ancientdeb: I won't say much but you don't need to believe me. It is PTAD that is coordinating NITEL payment. That one is sure and it is still PTAD that will do verification.BPE is in the process of being scrapped because government says they have achieved what they were set up to do. There is a lump sum in 2017 budget to pay parastatals such as Nitel, Nigeria airways, the steel rolling mills, Nigeria reinsurance etc. As for Nitel, no pensioner is getting lump sum.quote me anywhere. it is only this years pension that will be paid. then subsequently yearly pensions will be paid. Nitel yearly pension is close to 9billion naira that is why government says they will clear arrears in future.

Brosiye 99 : frm which source did u hear ur information cos my is frm nitel's union president and not becos ptad is doing verification now means dat nitel is amoung & nobody has scrapped bpe
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 4:56pm On Mar 22, 2017
My source is from within the DG PTAD's office. They are currently soon coming to North Central soon to conclude the zonal verification for civil servants. Cuurently, the PTAD is preparing modalities on verification of the Parastatal Pensioners (Nitel, Airways and others). It may not be done zonally but probably abuja, lagos and portharcourt. A meeting will soon be called with the senior Nitel retirees in Abuja(e.g Halita Aliyu) to work out these modalities.

My info was also gotten frm d lawyer dat won nitel's case. Infact 2 be sincere with u i also do get info frm accountant general office & a woman dat will be part of the verification a nitel staff but all was false becos nobody can tell me anything & i would not verify. U are not talking about disengaged staffs & no verification can be done without d concept of cbn or d lawyer

Thanks to @brosiye99 and @ancientdeb123 for at least sharing needed info with your colleagues.
1. Since, according to you, the lawyer and the union president have been asked to come on wednesday, that is march 22, for date of verification, it means they are virtually ready to attend to us. Kindly endeavour to share the info on this forum as soon as you have it.
Secondly, will the disengaged staff to be paid lump sum still be entitled to monthly pensions or not ?
Your 3/4 sources of info seem to me to be credible.
Please let us have only credible info on this forum.
May God bless your efforts.

Who told u pensioners will be given only this year pension? That means disengaged nitel workers who have not worked 10 years won't get anything. I don't think so.do u know DG ptad?some of what you said is not totally correct cos I expect u to be getting your info from union leaders for pensioners in abuja.none of them is aware of what u said and ptad invited them 2weeks ago.are u aware sir?nitel verification is expected to be concluded by June ending and the verification will start hopefully next month after the completion of core civil servant verification.the delay has been attributed to paucity of fund to carry out the exercise simultaneously across all zones but it is expected to be fast once budget is passed. Sir,any info u get from within DG PTSD without the knowledge of halita aliyu or other representative is false cos they visit PTSD almost every week.I don't like to make comments here cos people lie a lot especially the disengaged faction of motel holding meeting in lagos

Thanks. But is segzy3 synonymous with brosiye99 or not ?
Re: Nitel Pensioners Should Come In by brosiye99(m): 10:45am On Mar 23, 2017
@segzy3: Calm down. I have a business interest in this payment that is why i am following the information keenly. From what i am hearing, disengaged staff from (2006 - upwards) who have not reached 10 years in service as at time of disengagement will not get any pension. Please verify and inform people here. That is the normal rule on the old pension scheme. They are not entitled to it. They are only entitled to the gratuity and pay off which has already been paid at the time of disengagement. Though i understand this category of staff also have a legal case they are pursuing on it.
On the other issue, there will be no arrears to be paid for now. I am sure of that. The arrears are too massive that the leaders(union and Halita Aliyu group) were advised by PTAD, Ministry of Budget, etc to scale it down such that they will be added to the yearly pension budget payroll then arrears can be settled bit by bit when government finances improves. They agreed and this is why it was added in the budget. Hope you know that the pensions for one year is about 9 billion naira for NITEL alone not adding Airways and the others.
