Recall that it was at that point Zik sent Okpara to
Ibadan to mend fences with AG through his wife
who really forgave Zik and Okpara. And that was
where Awo made mistakes because Zik later still
abandoned them in UPGA to accept appointment
again in the NNA of Akintola-Balewa. If I were in
Awo’s shoes I would have accepted Balewa’ offer,
come out of prison, aligned AG with NPC, accept a
position and with Zik out in the cold, proceed to
deal with him too, Akintola, and Okpara with the
same Bello and Balewa behind me. I would not
mind if the coup plotters later killed me too.
Now the question is, if Awo did double faced
dealing, why would Zik later seek refuge politically
with him and his party when he was being
pummeled by the NPC?
As for the bolded: Funny enough, Zik, who
according to you, decided to later align with Awo
for beliving that Awo would not leave him in the
lurch this rime around, was the one who ended up
leaving Awo in the lurch once more to join the NNA
again. See your puerile logic?
Another illogicality of this claim is that Zik
eventually decided to strike a deal with a man
whom his (ZIK's) own government had already
convicted for "corruption" and was even already
serving the jail term. Why align with a criminal if
he himself was not a bigger one? Does that portray
Zik as a man with a sound sense of judgement or
as a shameless desperado who could condescend
to any level in pursuit of any ambition?

How exactly did Zik abandon UPGA? Was NCNC not behind AG in Western regional legislative election of Nov 1965?

Ofcourse, Zik knew that alliance with Awolowo was safe in 1964. Seeing as Akintola had dealt Awolowo political career a fatal blow. With Akintola( Yet a Yoruba- Arewa alliance) already aligned with Balewa in NPC, Awolowo never had the option of any possible alliance with Balewa, Zik knew that alliance with Awolowo then was safe. Awo had no options, Zik calculatons were spot on.

It would appear Zik would always be criticized and questioned by It Igbophobic entities, regardless of his alliance or non alliance with Awolowo, if he is now being questioned for aligning with a convicted Awolowo.
You have never read that Zik later went to join NNA after the 1965 elections were badly rigged against UPGA and the results declared and accepted by Akintola?
The Akintola-Balewa alliance did not pass for a Yoruba-Arewa alliance because majority of Yorubas rejected it and pressed their rejection home with massive riots which took the lives of Akintola's supporters. But the Zk-Balewa alliance was endorsed by Igbos as there were not even public condemnations of it from the East.
After the rigging of the 1962 censuses against the South, Zik had already abandoned Balewa to start seeking ways of teaming up with AG to fight back. In fact Okpara and Okotie-Eboh, from whose eyes the scales had begun to fall, had started warning Zik to retrace his steps from the side of Northerners. Only Akintola was therefore left in the web. With the East gone from him, Balewa knew very well that his alliance with Akintola alone would not get him votes from the West except by massive rigging which he on his own would not want to do. The only option left was a genuine Yoruba-Arewa alliance defined by Awolowo's involvement which Awolowo however declined. So with that scenario Awolowo's career was still very intact if he had wanted to be as unprincipled as Zik.
Of course Zik had to be so questioned. A principled politician would not have sought a deal with another politician convicted by a government which he was part of. That meant he knew the conviction was politically motivated from the beginning.

[s]You see, this is why i love the yorubas. Yorubas really do not care about minority groups. They are the only majority group who really respect the rights of minority groups. They have left Edo and Delta people to be their own.
What about tribes like Bariba, Igala, Igbirra, Nupes, Ogori e.t.c? These are middlebelt tribes that share so much in common with yoruba, infact if care is not taken you easily mistake them for yorubas. Many of them even speak yoruba fluently as 2nd languages in their homelands, yet u will never see yoruba force them or arguing with them to be yoruba.
What about the yoruba speaking Kwara, Kogi and Delta (Itsekiri n Olukumi) people? You hardly hear Yorubas arguing over Ilorin or Lokoja or Warri, having a heated issue with these middlebelt yoruba speakers, unlike Igbos who you always see insulting and antagonizing many SS groups just because they fail to accept Igboness or Igbo brotherhood.

There are Yorubas in Benin republic and Togo, but those in Nigeria do not kill themselves over these people. Imagine if there were Igbo tribes in Cameroon and beyond, we would have not drank water in peace because of Igbo claims day and night. Why is it always Igbos?

Igbos completely lack the leadership skills as a majority group to treat minority groups well and win their hearts just as among the Hausas, Fulanis, Kanuris, Shuwa arabs, Bauchis, Nupes and many northern muslim groups do. They think it is about bragging, arguing and insulting day and night that will help them with the SS. Attache by force.
Hausa-fulanis welcomed a lot of these northern minority groups to their lands, gave them equal oppprtunities and that was how many northern tribes accepted Hausa-fulanis the more. But igbos cannot even accept themselves let alone other groups to fluorish and succeed in their lands. That was how an Abia state governor sacked all the Imo state workers in their state.[/s]
Dude stop spoiling this fine debate with your emotional tantrums. You don't belong here. Just keep mute and watch on the sideline. angry

The tropical rain forest, another feature of
southernness covers nearly 80% of Edo but is
totally absent in Enugu and Ebonyi which are in the
Guinea Savannah – a feature of Northernness.
If latitude were to really matter then the North
should be classifying Benue as too Southern
compared with other Northern states. Likewise the
arm of Kogi which extends deep down beside
Anambra should make Anambra too close to Kogi
to be in the South. Even the Igbos indigenous to
Benue State have become Hausa-Fulanis by your
silly Geographical location logic.
If not for deep seated envy arising from a sense of
loss and irrelevance why do Middle Easterners
always have sleepless nights over the composition
of the SS when their own Biafra cohesion is in a
sorry state courtesy of the rancor between
Nwazurike and Nnamdi kanu?
The practically yoruboid Itsekiris in Delta have no
cultural or historical ties with the Ogojas in C’River
any more than the Ogonis (of Ghanaian origin)
have with their contiguous ijaws yet they are both
in the SS, the Ijaws in Ondo State are not even in
the SS but that does not disqualify them from the
SS brotherhood, the Ebus in Delta (an Igala
offshoot) have no cultural ties with the Ibibios of
Akwa Ibom, yet they now see themselves as
brothers. The South-South unity and sense of
oneness is therefore founded not on cultural
similarity or geographical location but on a shared
objective of freedom from WAZOBIA oppression of
which Igbos are number one culprit.
The US is a country of extremely diverse peoples
totally unrelated by culture who have however
found a common identity through their shared
objective of a free society. That is the modern
trend, hence it is extremely primitive, blind, crude,
unenlightened, backward and bestial for anyone to
still be basing it on ethnic similarities or
intermarriage.
The SS has come to stay and there is absolutely
NOTHING you can ever in your miserable life do
about it. We have evolved our identity from the
ashes of WAZOBIA oppression.

Lol! SE is an entity, Imo and Abia are more Southern than any part of Edo will be, and are more tropical than any part of Edo, not that it matters.

No sensible Igbo have any problem with SS, we only scornful of those who hide behind the "We SS people" tag to claim parts of Igbo speaking people in current SS as part of their madness like you are currently doing.

Stick to Edo. Stop talking about relationship between Ijaw groups, or other groups( Ebus, Ogoni,Itsekiri, etc)tell me about relationships between Edo and groups in SS.

No evidence of Igbo marginalization of any of our non Igbo neighbors. But we know that Edo was a blood thirsty expansionism geared empire now reduced to minorities.

Ofcourse, SS has come to stay, and Edo will remain a minority amongst minorities there.

If not how come
an investigation into the time of his premiership
with Akintola as deputy indicted Awo but left
Akintola smelling of roses? Why was the same
probe not extended to Zik who was the first
Nigerian to be indicted of corruption by even the
colonial authorities over AfDB finances? The truth
was that all the players in the first republic namely,
Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, Awo, Akintola, Zik, Okpara,
Okotie-Eboh, Mbadiwe, etc were all corrupt. You
can get the facts here. http://www.mondaq.com/

Only Awo’s own was made an issue because of his
opposition to the Arewanistan-Biafra coalition.
And in any case the NEPU and NPC which Zik
teamed up with were both Core North-controlled
Islamist parties, while the UMBC which Awo
aligned with was a Middle-Belters’ party founded
and controlled by a Christian called Joseph Tarka.
Also Awolwo never sought alliance with both NCNC
and NPC at the same time. It was Akintola who,
entirely out of his own accord, went to Ahmadu
Bello to, in his capacity as the premier of Western
Region, negotiate. Recall that even before
independence Akintola, against Awolowo’s
disapproval for anything Islamist North, had
already been serving as a minister under Balewa’s
shadow regime which the colonial masters put in
place in 1957 preparatory to their final exit.
Akintola would later still visit Ahmadu Bello on the
eve of the January 15 coup to suggest they both
flee the country before the day of action which
Bello declined.

This is not about others! This is about Awolowo. Was Awolowo found guilty of financial misappropriation? Yes! Was he found guilty of treasonable felony? Yes!
So what else are we talking about? Are you saying because you think other politicians were dirty too, therefore Awolowo should have been spared from facing the full wrath of the law? Are you for real!

Of course, Awolowo political naivety exposed him to the law, his greed and lust for power alienated his scion Akintola who went and exposed all his shady deals to Tafawa Balewa, who then had to use them to catch Awolowo.
Between Awolowo corruption and his alienated political former son, Akintola, any neutral being would find the root of Awolowo misfortunes, but a bitter Igbophobic being is more interested in roping Zik and Ndiigbo in.

There was no telling if Akintola was acting on his own or for Awolowo, total avoidance of the situation was a pragmatic solution.

Awolowo had no problem working with the North, he worked perfectly with Gowon and was at the helm of the starvation policy to keep Nigeria one, the same country he labelled " Geographical expression" not long ago.
Before then it was public knowledge that Zik was indicted by the colonial authorities. But the Arewanistan-Biafra FG would not probe him too because he was their Man Friday.
So because Awolowo was dirty other politicians who even got dirty before him should have been let off the hook? Then why are Igbos accusing Buhari of selective anti-corruption war if we have to go by your logic? Then you people should stop calling for the prosecution of Amaechi, Fashola, Rochas, etc since they are part of the government of the day like Zik and Akintola were back then even though they were equally corrupt.
Awolwo worked with the North to teach Zik and Igbos a lesson on how bitter it could be for a Southerner to collude with the Northern establishment. Do me I do you, man no dey vex.
Had Awolowo been behind Akintola's visit to Balewa two things would have happened:
1. Ahmadu Bello, blunt as he was, would have later confronted Awolowo with the inconsistency while Awolowo was rejecting their offer from jail.
2. Akintola would not have later accused Awolowo of being responsible for Yoruba marginalization in the sharing of portfolios. He would have accepted that his alleged Yoruba marginalization was not caused by Awo.
But while the tussle lasted all Akintola kept harping on was that Awolwo's aversion to alliance with the North robbed the Yoruba nation of portfolios in the government, and that his democratic socialism would not work except the Yorubas aligned with the North to displace Igbos.

Igbos never stopped the Ogonis, Ibibios, Efiks, Annangs, Ijaws, Ekoi, etc from being themselves.
We sure don't want to have anything to do with Edo. Igbanke, the only Igboid group in Edo state, is currently pushing for exit from you tribalistic bunch.

So, why exactly is an Edo like you shamelessly attaching to groups in SS you have no cultural or boundary relationship with? Why do you think you have more right in SS, a region you are merely an appendage to than an Ndoki/ Asa SEner from Abia state, whose Ndoki/Asa brothers who share contagious boundaries with them are natives of Oyigbo in Rivers state. An Egbema man in SE, whose Egbema brothers are in ONELGA Rivers, An Ogbaru/Onitsha/ Obosi man from SE whose brothers are in Enu-ani Delta state, an Oguta man whose brothers are in Ogume Delta state?

Do you see how your desire to forcefully attach to groups you share no cultural or traditional commonwealth with had blinded you?

Sensationalism report at best. The Muslim population in Afikpo are at best 2% of the population. Being a Muslim in Igboland is considered abominable, the person becomes a social reject and loses respect of the traditional Igbo society.
This Muslim Igbo though being too generous with the prospect of Islam in Igboland as to be expected, still manage to hit the truth on why Islam can never really take hold in Igboland without aggressive coercion on the part of the crusaders. The Igbo culture is incompatible with Islam.

However, Igbos are tolerant people, so no one would kill anyone for being a Muslim.
By the way, establishing a Muslim school mean nothing there is a Muslim school in Uwani at the heart of Enugu South metropolis. Those schools are mainly for indigenous Muslim populations in the SE, the Igbo converts are few.

How exactly does this suggest that Dan fodio would have an easy ride in the thick jungles of SE? You are a bad comedian.

Edo is closer to the coast than any part of the Middle east. That you can't change. Edo has a direct sea port. The Middle East ca never have.
Guinea Savanna is a feature of Northernness and Enugu with Ebonyi fall wholly into it.

I have told you the relationships. Small groups in Edo North speak mutually intelligible languages with others in C'River. It is not as if all these similarities are even as important as the shared objective of freedom from WAZOBIA domination and oppression.
Youe are envious of Edo's glorious past. Stick to your Biafra and reconcile Kanu and Uwazurike first before talking of the unity of the SS.
You say no sensible Igbo man has any problem with the SS, yet you have been derogatorily calling the SS an artificial group which is not recognized in the constitution as if the constitution recognizes the Sad East. then you've indicted yourself as an Igbo man not sensible.

All SS people are minorities. There is no overwhelming majority, so we conduct our affairs democratically and based on issues as no single tribe has the advantage of numbers to ride it rough over others. Igbos don't like this at all. That you concern yourself more with the affairs of the SS than the SE means you find the SE inferior. Jonathan said it is a tree with ripe fruits that people throw stones at.
All the SS groups have unanimously told you in clear without equivocation that they are not part of you an will never be, but you have refused to listen, and like a stubborn fly hovers around an injury, you have continued to covet the SS.

I don't know weather it is the Yoruboid Itsekiris of Delta you want to share a joint country with despite labelling Yorubas traitors.

I am still not surprised that you can't see how that suggests that Dan Fodio would have had an easy ride. I am used to your poor comprehension. Dan Fodio would not have had any resistance or even needed any force of arms in converting to islam a people who are in the 21st century willingly proselytizing themselves at a time other peoples are abandoning islam for Christianity even right in Sokoto the seat of the Caliphate where Dan Fodio rose from.
You claim islam in Igbo land is deemed abominable and that Igbos are tolerant of it. That sounds contradictory. Tolerance for abomination?

All these are trash for the dustbin. All the SS tribes have warned you never to identify them as Biafrans. You are just flogging a dead horse. The Old Eastern Region is dead and buried.
A supposed majority latching onto minority tribes for relevance is a sign of defeat and irrelevance actually. You may even take away your Igboid groups from the SS, but leave the non-igboid alone to live their lives as they please. They are free to decide their destiny the same way you seek to define yours.

You claim Edo is a muslim state yet Ojukwu attacked it claiming he wanted to free the people from Islamic North. You wanted to free moslems from moslems? How silly you people are! Edo is a Northern State unrelated to SS people yet that was the first place Ojukwu invaded in his expansionist drive leaving univaded the places you claim are more closely related to Igbos. Were Igbos by that action not guiltier of forcefully attaching themselves to people with whom they were not realated in any way? 4. There was everything to show that Zik’s quest to
hold Nigeria together was not propelled by blind
optimism but by the pursuit of a vainglorious title
of “Zik of Africa” and subconsciously a pro-Igbo
agenda of domination which he and his surrogates
like Onyeama had already declared. The massacre
of Igbos in Jos and Kano in 1945 and 1953
respectively, the Northerners open chanting of
born-to-rule – a philosophy antithetical to
democracy, Ahmadu Bello’s open castigation and
demonizing of Igbos (Zik himself inclusive) at
every opportunity, frequent demands for de-
amalgamation by Northerners, etc were all enough
eye openers for an innocently blind optimist. Zik’s
argument might be intellectually sound but it was
far from the reality kissing everyone in the face.
And you know that idealistic people normally sound
very intelligent since the imaginative world of

You see, this is why i love the yorubas.

That was how an Abia state governor sacked all the Imo state workers in their state.
They are not diplomatic but arrogant and full of themselves. They don't know the power of diplomacy hence they have lost the solidarity they used to enjoy from some minorities. They think force and cheap blackmail can change their fortunes. When an eastern minority expresses sincere fears about the proposed SE/SS Biafra, instead of carefully and honestly addressing his questions they resort to accusing him of being misled by Hausa-Yoruba divide and rule tactics thereby suggesting that the minority man has not a mind of his own to understand things by himself. And with that insult the man just walks away and resolves in his mind never to agree with them.

Well, contrary to your claim, the Union Treaty of
1707 had in it the clause which granted Scotland’s
demand of the right for legislative autonomy within
the UK. Read it over again. It was you who
referenced it. Now, it was that clause David
Cameroon invoked to direct the Scottish Legislature
in 2012 (The Edinburg Agreement 2012) to go and
deliberate over it and come out with a working
document on the manner to go about the
referendum in 2014.

Lol! There is no secession clause in the Union treaty of 1707! Yes Scotland was granted legislative autonomy that was still under Westminster. Catalonia had a similar arrangement granted unto them in Spain. But ultimately, the decision to allow referendum to hold was beyond the powers of Scotland and Catalonia.
While UK out of magnanimity decided to support Scotland Referendum, Spain didn't do same for Catalonia.

This whole talk about secession clause is redundant.

4. There was everything to show that Zik’s quest to
hold Nigeria together was not propelled by blind
optimism but by the pursuit of a vainglorious title
of “Zik of Africa” and subconsciously a pro-Igbo
agenda of domination which he and his surrogates
like Onyeama had already declared. The massacre
of Igbos in Jos and Kano in 1945 and 1953
respectively, the Northerners open chanting of
born-to-rule – a philosophy antithetical to
democracy, Ahmadu Bello’s open castigation and
demonizing of Igbos (Zik himself inclusive) at
every opportunity, frequent demands for de-
amalgamation by Northerners, etc were all enough
eye openers for an innocently blind optimist. Zik’s
argument might be intellectually sound but it was
far from the reality kissing everyone in the face.
And you know that idealistic people normally sound
very intelligent since the imaginative world of
alternate reality is full of utopian images.

You are yet to provide any concrete evidence of Zik believing in Nigerian union not being genuine, other than your jaundiced opinions which count for nothing.
What other evidence do you need that would be more convincing than the fact that a man saw his brothers being killed daily by those he wanted a union with but continued seeking that union? Are you mentally retarded to understand simplest logic? As long as he was not a psychiatric patient then an ulterior motive was the driving force behind that conviction. What greater obligation does a genuine leader owe his subjects than to secure their lives first by any reasonable means possible which in that case was to give up that "national unity" pursuit immediately? It takes people who are alive to enjoy the fruits of any kind of unity being pursued on their behalf. Even Ojukwu later made a detour from "one-Nigeria" pursuit in the face of unabated Igbo massacres in the North. Most Igbo academics of today have come to the inevitable conclusion that Zik was propelled by the vanglorious "Zik of Africa" Title. You alone are the odd one out.

I would no longer bother myself with researching your claims because you poorly comprehend what you read only for me to arrive there and see a different thing. It has been your style here.
and like I have told you the resistance to Igbos' attempt to goad others into secession is a moralism issue and not one of constitutionalism. Get that into your head.
Re: 10 Most Developed Local Government Areas In Nigeria-opinion by pazienza(m): 7:25pm On Mar 24, 2017
Yes it is undeniable that any people have the right
to seek secession from any union whether such
right is canonnized or not. However my contention
has more to do with morality than legalism. In UK
the other parts did not oppose Scotland’s demand
for legislative autonomy in 1707 or term it a
demand inimical to national unity as Zik and Igbos
did to others in Nigeria. Not even David Cameroon,
whose England was in power as at the time of
Scotland's demand, refused to entertain
arguements for the canonization of the Edinburg
Act unlike Igbos who, against public opinion,
promulgated an Anti-Secession Decree at a time
they were in power. But here we are with Igbos
who criticized and resisted all corresponding
moves in Nigeria now goading everyone else to go
violent about a reversal. That is the absurdity and
afterthought others are refusing to tolerate from
them. Had the power equation in Nigeria been to
the favour of Igbos they would not have been
seeing any injustice about Nigeria by now.
If Ojukwu really had regards for referendum, then
why could he not at least advise Ironsi to do same
to test Boro’s people’s opinion before he (Ojukwu)
attacked Boro? Which plebiscite did Ojukwu and
ironsi conduct before they promulgated the Anti-
secession Decree? That makes nonsense of the
accusation that Gowon rejected plebiscite. What
goes around comes around.

At what time in point did Ironsi, Ojukwu or Azikiwe used military force to stop Edoids, Yorubas or Arewas from secession?

Ironsi stopped Boro from secession, could he have asked for referendum in Ijaw areas then before squashing the Boro revolution? Maybe, but considering the chaotic state of things then, who knows.
But nevertheless, that is left between Ndiigbo and Ijaws to settle. I see no reason why Edoids and Yorubas are crying more than the bereaved!

Ijaws like kings of Buguma, Bacana, Opobo, etc were all in support of Ojukwu Biafra, the kings of Buguma and Bacana both relinquished their thrones rather than turn against Ojukwu and Biafra when their regions fell to the federal forces, so it's obvious they forgave Ojukwu, if at all they were in support of Boro actions to start with.
Boro obviously never forgot and sought for vendetta that ended up taking his life.

Bottomline is that neither Zik, Ironsi, Ojukwu or Ndiigbo ever stood on the path of Edoids and Yorubas secession, because never in the history of Nigeria had these groups ever publicly declared secession!

Why exactly are Edo and Yorubas crying more than the bereaved?
Re: 10 Most Developed Local Government Areas In Nigeria-opinion by pazienza(m): 7:49pm On Mar 24, 2017
t states thus:
The AG insisted that Lagos, a Yoruba city which
was situated in Western Nigeria must be
completely recognised as a Yoruba town without
any loss of identity, control or autonomy by the
Yoruba. Contrary to this position, the NCNC was
anxious to declare Lagos, by virtue of it being the
"Federal Capital Territory" as "no man's land" - a
declaration which as could be expected angered the
AG which offered to help fund the development of
other territory in Nigeria as "Federal Capital
Territory" and then threatened secession from
Nigeria if it didn't get its way. The threat of
secession by the AG was tabled, documented and
recorded in numerous constitutional conferences,
including the constitutional conference held in
London in 1954 with the demand that a right of
secession be enshrined in the constitution of the
emerging Nigerian nation to allow any part of the
emergent nation to opt out of Nigeria, should the
need arise.(Author(s): Tekena N. TamunoSource:
The Journal of Modern African Studies, Vol. 8, No.
4 (Dec., 1970), pp. 563–584 [42] )

I'd like to see a non Nigerian quote backing these outrageous statements by Tamuno, who by the way is entitled to his own opinions but not facts.

Either way,Yorubas in AG never declared secession and independence of the Western region, and Zik who by the way had many Yorubas in NCNC then, used force to bring them back into the union.
Zik clearly stated that he had no intentions of using any means other than diplomacy in keeping any part of Nigeria in the union.

This remains my bone of contention!

7. I would not expect you to make any sense out of it. We are talking of moral propriety and this fraud is talking of constitutionalism as if the constitution back then was drafted and agreed upon by Nigerians themselves. The same people who base their call for secession on the fact that Nigeria’s constitution was a British document are here again justifying their own brothers political misadventure on that very fraudulent British constitution. Never able to maintain a single line of argument. The only consistent thing about them is inconsistency. If constitutionalism confers rightness on anything then the 13% derivation, the crackdown on Ipob protesters, etc are all morally right since they are all allowed by the constitution.
If not for your abysmal comprehension ability you would have known that after amalgamation the areas of Benue and Taraba, collective called Munchi back then, still remained in the Southern Region till the early fifties when they were excised into the Northern Region – the same time Zik was away in Ibadan fooling himself.
Awolowo’s irredentism predated Gowon’s era. Go and read his book titled “Path to Nigeria’s Freedom”.
Lol! The point is that the Yorubas and Edos claim that Zik opposition to secession clause in the constitution must be seen as Zik and Ndiigbo stopping them from secession, when it is on record they never declared secession at any point in Nigerian history and was stopped by Zik or Ndiigbo.
The airheads argue that secession clause must be equated to secession, and so far we had shown they are two different things all together.

This is not about What Biafrans think about the British illegal occupation of Africa, and the illegality of Nigeria since no Nigerian ethnic nationality was consulted to vote before Nigeria was created.

This is about winning the Edos and Yorubas at their own game, using their own rules.

The secession clause blackmail used by Yolobas and Edos if followed to logical conclusion like I had shown so far, is redundant, irrational and a cheap blackmail.

No country's law supersedes the universal human rights, Nigeria being a signatory to it, cannot violate it.
Right to self determination is also sacrosanct!

Since they were all still part of Southern Nigeria as you claimed, and there was no Eastern region
then, what stopped Awolowo from fighting for their inclusion in Southern Nigeria since he too was a Southern Nigerian like Zik.

Knowing your diabolical mind, if Zik fought for their inclusion in Southern Nigeria and then Eastern region, you Igbophobic beings would have still accused him of being a land grabber, who was out to expand Igbos territories by proxy.

There is no pleasing Igbophobic beings by an Igbo man. He is condemned for his actions which are misinterpreted and twisted to make him a greedy villain and then by his inactions which are distorted and logic turned on its head to present him as being too weak, docile and disillusioned.
Re: 10 Most Developed Local Government Areas In Nigeria-opinion by pazienza(m):
Poor comprehension again. Being an Arewa-Biafra
party does not obliterate the fact that the Igbos
were always the junior slave partners used to do
dirty jobs and later dumped. It happened in the first
Republic. It was almost happening in the second
republic before Buhari swept all that away. It
happened again in PDP when Igbos were dumped
after being used by Arewa to endorse OBJ their
trusted lackey. Remember OBJ later described as
“gentleman’s agreement” the promise to give Igbos
the 2003 PDP ticket?
Yes Igbo sons were VPs for both Awo and Shagari
while Zik ran for presidency, but Igbos voted for the
Arewa-Biafra combination which the Shagari-
Ekweme ticket represented.

You are as always misfiring. A look at the 1979 presidential result which Zik came 3rd would show that atleast 75% of the Imo/ Anambra vote was casted for Zik and not Shagari/Ekwueme.

As a matter of fact, Shagari didn't get up to 15% of vote in Imo/ Anambra despite featuring an Igbo VP,, but he got 36% of the votes in Bendel, which Edo was part of. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_presidential_election,_1979

Shagari even got more than 10% of the votes in Oyo, lol! No be today Yoruba Muslims started their alliance.

The only person who was dumped in 1979 was Awolowo. It was supposed to be a year the Northern Elites paid him back for his role in ganging up against Biafra and policies aimed at Emasculating Igbos post civil war by backing him for the president.
Instead the North played on the hatred the Igbos had rightfully developed against him to hold unto power.
Even Awo selection of an Igbo VP could not gather Igbo votes for him.
The North ensured that Awo couldn't get the Igbos votes by picking an Igbo VP too, and then watched the Igbo votes cancel each other out as Zik mopped up the bulk of the Igbo votes.
The North would further rub it in later by going into coalition with Zik, leaving Awolowo in the lurch again.

Awolowo was simply used in 1967-70 dumped in 1979 and left to dry between 1979-83. Ndiigbo could only laugh!

It's all a matter of perspective.

How exactly were Igbos used to endorse OBJ? In 1999, there were only OBJ and Olu falae, it wasn't like we had much choice.

In 2003, it was a choice between OBJ and Buhari. And let's face it, for obvious reasons, the devil would win an election in Igboland, if he is competing against Buhari. Ojukwu came third in that election.
Re: 10 Most Developed Local Government Areas In Nigeria-opinion by pazienza(m): 9:18pm On Mar 24, 2017
OBJ was never truly representative of Yoruba
interest. In fact his anti-Yoruba disposition
endeared him to Northerners. Whichever Southerner
hates his own people and is always ready to
displease them, such the North falls in love with.
Examples are Azikiwe, OBJ, Anenih, etc.
You claim PDP was a national party yet through
its 16 year reign Igbos were sidelined all through
as per the presidential or VP ticket. Is that a
suggestion that Igbos are not part of the nation?
After accepting 16 year discrimination as a
nationalistic trend tomorrow you’ll complain of
marginalization and expect anyone to take you
seriously. Ride on!
Enahoro and Akenzua protected us during the war,
and till today we honour them.
Okorocha’s political career tumbled on identifying
with APC yet he won re-election post merger of his
APGA faction with APC. Chai! Chai!

On the contrary, Yorubas respect OBJ and brag about him. In 2003 when Atiku threatened his return ticket, Yorubas backed him, and when he won the PDP ticket, Yorubas also backed him against Buhari, a situation which nearly killed AD in SW, barring the cunning Tinubu who held his Lagos forte.

So, you can spare us the talk of OBJ not being Yoruba representative.

Well, PDP is a national party. It produced 2 Southern
and 1 Northern president.
Since when do you care about Igbos? Igbos produced Senate presidents many times under PDP.
Of course,PDP is a microcosm of Nigeria and it reflected on how the Igbo presidential project therewas put on infinity.

What difference would it make? Atleast Igbos can never be accused of not trying to build fenses with other Nigerians. We did that in PDP for 16 years!

Zik is not celebrated in Igboland today, but it doesn't mean we will allow Igbophobic Nigerian hawks make a villain out of him. Ojukwu is Celebrated in Igboland, go figure!

To a very large extent Jonathan’s presidency was
accidental. We SS people accept it. We don’t lie
and beat our chests like Igbos. Unfortunately GEJ
was not the best the SS could offer as he too on
adopting the name “Azikiwe” became a
misadventuring “One-Nigerianist” struggling to
please the Feudalist North to the detriment of the
entire South and Middle belt which gave him bloc
votes in 2011. We would have preferred Donald
Duke.
Do Igbos even have any politics for anyone to know
let alone understand? A people who termed APC a
party of the devil and in just less than 15 months
all their frontline politicians (Nwobodo, Nnamani,
Andy Uba, Kalu, Ekwunife, etc) later began trooping
into it thus leaving the SS in the lurch? What
politics do such people have? I know you’ll soon
come and disown these guys as Yorubas and
Fulanis whose ancestors migrated into Alaigbo and
intermarried as far back as 1500 AD.

Which one come be "We SS people accept it"? Lol!

See this attach by force. SS people are talking, an appendage like Edo is talking too? Haha!

What did GEJ presidency had to do with Edo people? Lol! Comedian!

GEJ presidency was Ijaw settlement for their oil contribution, it was aimed at soothing the pains in the creeks!
People like Edwin Clark insisted that only people of the Creek are the real SSners, even a real Niger deltan like Peter Odili was sidelined. And a far flung Edo man is saying we SS accept it, like Edo opinion mattered.

What politics do Edos have? What stopped Igbo expired politicians running away from Buhari EFCC prosecution from running into APC like their mates all over Nigeria had done? Were men like Amaechi, Emani Ayiri, Nge Abe, real SS people not already in APC.

Has APC not been controlling Edo for 8 years plus now?

How can Edo that gave nearly half of its vote to Buhari in 2015, and left GEJ in the lurch question the direction of SE politics.
Incase you have forgotten, this is the result sheet of 2015 presidential election:

http://naijagists.com/final-inec-results-of-2015-nigerian-presidential-election-by-state-buhari-wins-21-states-gej-picks-16/

Let's see who left who in the lurch.
Apart from Edo, where else in the real south did Buhari get such high percentage of the total casted votes?

When I say that Edo is only but an appendage to SS, I kid not.

Again I maintain that at no point did Awolowo Enahoro or any one declare secession and Zik used Force to bring them back.
Secession clause is not and cannot be equivalent to secession.
Therefore, Zik cannot be responsible for preventing Awolowo and Enahoro from secession, since they never declared secession. One cannot be guilty of a crime he never committed.

If you have link of where Awolowo and Enahoro declared Western region independent and Zik used Force or threatened to use force to bring to bring them back, post them here.

There are two ways to seek secession, namely peacefully through a request for constitutional amendment as Scotland did, or through a violent approach. If you prevent either of them then you've prevented secession.
Enahoro and Awolowo wanted secession in a peaceful and non violent manner against the future and therefore wanted the clause in the constitution but Zik prevented them from having their way.
Isaac Boro took the violent option but Ojukwu prevented him.
If we are however to rely on your once more preposterous logic then all the cry by Igbos that other Nigerians are currently holding Igbos from seceding is false and baseless since it is not as if Igbos have really declared secession and then other Nigerians took up guns, cutlasses and swords to stop them. All that Kanu is asking for is a referendum ( the non violent approach) which does not translate to declaring secession already let alone Buhari using force to hold him back. The mere demand for referendum too is not and can never translate to secession.
And neither has any other Igbo man declared secession and Buhari held him back. So Igbos should therefore stop accusing the FG of holding them back in Nigeria. Thank God we've now agreed that secession is established only when someone declares it with or without referendum or his people's approval. This new definition of yours also renders invalid your previous argument that Isaac Boro's declaration fell short of the standard on account of not being backed by his kinsmen.

Deadlytruth:
There are two ways to seek secession, namely peacefully through a request for constitutional amendment as Scotland did, or through a violent approach. If you prevent either of them then you've prevented secession.
Enahoro and Awolowo wanted secession in a peaceful and non violent manner against the future and therefore wanted the clause in the constitution but Zik prevented them from having their way.
Isaac Boro took the violent option but Ojukwu prevented him.

Awolowo and Enahoro never demanded for secession. They wanted Secession clause inserted, incase they needed it in the future.
But as we have seen from Singapore situation, and from Scotland, absence of Secession clause never stopped a people from secession. At no point did Awolowo or Enahoro demanded for referendum from the Western regional parliament which they controlled and there after, sought for Nigeria to recognize the referendum and Zik used Force to stop Enahoro or Awolowo.

Enahoro or Awolowo never made any move towards secession, secession clause is not secession!

Boro was stopped violently from secession by Ojukwu! Granted, but he is Ijaw, and not Edo or Yoruba. So Ijaws can morally claim that Igbos stopped them from secession, but since Boro himself had exerted his pound of flesh by preventing Ojukwu and Ndiigbo from secession violently, by siding with the FG, even though we still had Ijaws in Biafra, it stands to reason that Ijaws as represented by Boro settled their scores with Ndiigbo and currently have no moral high ground to stand against Igbo demand for Secession.

The funny thing is that the average Ijaw is not interested in holding the Igbos back in Nigeria, since Ijaws are comfortable to know that they too can have a prosperous nation of their own, they had once attempted secession on their own under Boro and then under Ojukwu.

And even though I questioned if Boro really had the backing of most Ijaws then, cos he currently does, I also admitted that Ojukwu atleast owed him a referendum, and in my book, it is recorded that an Ijaw man once wanted secession but an Igbo man held him back, but whatever moral leverage Ijaws might have had against Igbos independence today was lost when Boro teamed up with FG to stop Biafra. Igbos currently owe Ijaws no moral debt.

Its Yorubas and Edos who are scared of standing on their own, who never declared secession for once in their lives, but want Nigeria to continue so as to hide their own incapability of building a nation of their own, that always want to use Boro and Ijaw issue as a tool of blackmail against Igbos.

Igbos had only declared demand for referendum and the Nigerian state with active support from Arewa-oduanistanis and Edos had taken up arms against them, shooting them at Will during their peaceful protests, and arresting their leader, Amnesty international report on Nigeria state violation of basic human rights of Biafrans for seeking referendum is there.

A demand for referendum is ultimately a demand for secession, ithat was how Bamenda left Nigeria, that was how Scotland nearly left UK, and that's how Catalonia intends to leave Spain, only that Spain had refused to accept their referendum. Awolowo never demanded for a referendum nor did he demand for secession.

Your blackmail is cheap and won't stand, Awolowo never demanded for secession from Nigeria, it's as simple as that.

1. Yorubas or Edos never demanded for secession and were held back violently by Ndiigbo.

2. Yorubas or Edos never pursued for secession from
Nigeria through non violent means and were held back by Ndiigbo, their demand for secession clause is geared making FUTURE secession plans easier for any interested group, but fact remains that Yorubas never pursued secession from Nigeria in that FUTURE and were blocked by Ndiigbo.

Awolowo controlled Western region yet there was never for once Bill for referendum in bid for secession discussion in the Western house!

3. Yorubas and Edos teamed up with Arewa to hold Igbos from secession violently in 1966.

4. Yorubas and Edos have no moral leverage whatsoever over Igbo demand for secession today, seeing as they had already violently blocked Igbo secession in 1966 and also were instrumental in blocking Igbos from getting Aburi accord which would have left Nigeria a confederation, making FUTURE Secession of any part of Nigeria easier. Their blackmail is cheap.

Infact, the reason Edo persons like Akenzua and other Yorubas advised Gowon to renege on the Aburi accord was that they felt that it left Nigeria a confederation, making FUTURE secession of any group easier.

So, Yorubas and Edos also stood on Igbos path towards peaceful future secession from Nigeria in 1967.

In the light of the above, it becomes apparent that the Yorubas and Edos were never interested in any FUTURE secession, their demand for secession clause in 1954 in case of FUTURE secession plans was simply their usual treachery of speaking from both sides of the mouth.

5. Ojukwu and Ironsi violently stopped Boro and his boys secession bid, but Boro and some of his Ijaw people had already exerted their own pound of flesh against Ojukwu and Ndiigbo when they backed the FG and snuffed out Biafra. Bearing in mind that some Ijaws were in support of Ojukwu.

6. Ndiigbo Moral basis for Biafran demand can not be undermined seeing as we owe no Nigerian group( Ijaw in this case) , any debt that haven't been paid.

7. Also note that Ijaws the only group who can genuinely claim that Igbos stood on their path towards secession( even though Ijaws too had exerted revenge by standing on Igbo path to independence in Biafra war) are not interested in holding Igbos back in Nigeria, since they are not scared of running an independent country of their own, it's rather bitter souls from Edo and Yoruba who Igbos owe nada and who are scared of imminent failure in an independent nation of their own, as they had never for once in their history sought for independence, that are busy trying to create non existing stories of Igbos standing against a secession they never declared and when that fails, they run to hide behind Ijaw and Boro.

These remain the meat of my argument.

Was Igbo collusion with the North to jail Enahoro,
Awolowo, etc not worse than hate speeches?
Actions speak louders than words. Were you
expecting Oba Akenzua to send thank you cards
and gifts to Igbos in 1965 while seeing his brother
Enahoro languishing do death in jail courtesy of
Zik's subservience to Arewa people? Only Igbos live
in glass houses and yet throw stones. They give
others blows but when the blows are returned they
complain it was disproportionate. They colluded
with the North to hound Middle Belters and fellow
Southerners, and when the opportunity came those
Southerners too teamed up together with the
Middle Belt to pay them back, but they began to
cry victimization. Hypocrites

Enahoro and Awolowo were jailed because:

1. They were corrupt politicians. You can argue that other politicians were corrupt too, maybe. But that does not change the fact that Awolowo and Enahoro were corrupt politicians.

2. Akintola was sidelined by Awolowo and AG political naivety, so he was on a Vendetta mission to ruin Awolowo, bury AG and build his own political dynasty in the West.

3. Akintola then sought the help of Saraduna/ Balewa who saw it as an opportunity to have a proxy control of the Western region through Akintola.

You can blame Zik for the death of your great grandfather or any other irrational blames your mind can think of. But the above remains the rational cause of Awo and his friends misfortunes then.

I don't remember Ndiigbo siding with anyone to cause any harm to Yorubas, Edos or Middle beltans. NCNC were in alliance with NPC and were never in position to instruct NPC on how to run her domestic affairs in the North, nor could they interfere in the West, when a Yoruba man in Akintola in Afonja fashion opened the door to Saraduna and Balewa to have a foothold in the West.
You are angry Zik and Ndiigbo didn't interfere in Arewa actions in the West or Middle belt, that is fair enough, but to go out and say that Ndiigbo and Zik were responsible for those actions is irrational.
Though I reckon that had Zik interfered in Saraduna/Balewa/Akintola 're enactment of Afonja/Alimi part 2 in the West, Igbophobic beings like you would have still queried his involvement in issues not involving his Eastern region, you would have questioned why Igbos charity never begin at home, and I'm sure Akintola would have done same.

Zik staying out of those mess was pragmatic approach. He however intervened without getting trapped in the middle by helping Awo survive when he pleaded for his jail in the East( Calabar) rather than in the North where he could have died.

Those who murdered sleep are now looking for
sleep.
We were on our own in Benin when you attacked us
in addition to having colluded with the Arewa, your
friends, to jail our leader and representative. Were
we wrong to have defended ourselves? You had
problem with Arewa but invaded Edo. If not for
mere expansionism drive, why could you not just
use Benin for the mere purpose of transit on your
way to Lagos in your quest to dislodge Gowon?
Was Gowon's office in Osadebey House, Benin? Did
Edo people stop you from just transiting through
Benin to warrant cracking down on them as
retaliation?
If you had resisted the expansionist temptation to
stop over and occupy Benin you would have arrived
Lagos on time and caught Gowon relatively
unprepared to launch any meaningful reprisal. But
the usual Igbo greed which inspires the pursuit of
numerous rats simultaneously led to catastrophic
defeat with innocent lives lost.

You were never on your own in Edo! Akenzua and. co were amongst those who murdered peaceful resolution of Biafra issue, since he argued that Aburi accord implementation would make it too easy for any region to leave Nigeria in the future.

Edo elements were with Gowon right from beginning of the war. The war was Biafra vs Nigeria and Edo were fully in Gowon and Nigerian side. Biafra invasion of Bini was justified, Edo was Nigeria and Nigeria already invaded Biafra via Gakem.

Enahoro and friends in AG dug their own graves, Akintola helped bury them.

The idea was to just pass through Edo to Lagos, the mission success depended on stealth and speed. Biafra spending more time in Edo than needed was caused by Banjo who betrayed the mission and spent days in Edo looking for ways to unseat Ojukwu from Biafra, depose Gowon from Lagos and rule a new United Nigeria.
Ofcourse, he lost out in the end and was rightly charged for treason by Ojukwu, alongside his accomplices

Igbos had never been expansionist, your attempt at labelling us such had no historical antecedents or contemporary back up. It's as always, a figment of your imagination.
The only expansionist empire known in Southern Nigeria was located in Edo and maybe Yoruba! That my friend, is historical antecedent.
