Following the sale of Keystone Bank to Sigma Golf-Riverbank Consortium by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), the new investors have finally taken possession with a view to repositioning the bank immediately. A statement from the bank said the handover took place last Friday after the Completion Board Meeting to consummate the acquisition and pave way for the takeover was held the previous day (Thursday) with representatives of Sigma Golf-Riverbank Consortium (the Buyer), AMCON (the Seller), Board and Management of Keystone Bank as well as the advisers to the buyer (KPMG Professional Services, Boston Advisory Services, Giwa Osagie & Co., Pan-African Capital Limited) and the Seller (FBN Capital Limited, Citibank Nigeria Limited, Banwo & Ighodalo, CrosswrockLaw). Recall that AMCON had last Monday, announced that Sigma Golf-Riverbank Consortium had acquired Keystone Bank Limited. The Completion Meeting signified the effective hand-over of the bank to the buyer . |

fxuser:This is what I was discussing with a friend over the weekend, why still peg it at N350, when so far it has shown signs of dropping further if the trend continues. Where did they even get the N350 figure from as the true value? |

fxuser:Good morning all.kudos to my ogas in house. This should be the way though.with the latest savings bond issue @ 13.01% and inflation rate somehow dropping, the one year TB rate will also drop below the savings bond rate (that's the target though) with time.this will push fund into the market but others may take their fund and bet on some businesses that'll beat both return. |

CBN crashes the retail rate for the USDNGN to NGN360 from NGN375. Last week, we saw the black market converge closer to the official retail rate of 375 to NGN380-NGN390 level. In a surprise move this morning , the CBN has crashed the retail rate this morning to 360 from 375 last week. The black market currently remains unsettled as rates are moving quite rapidly. At the new level, the implied rate for the GBP is now NGN450. All in all, there is a lot of excitement on the ground as rates crash. With the convergence, it is very likely that users of dollars are likely to chase dollars in the black market to save them from the documented process of bidding for dollars via the banks. The question we would be asking would be whether banks are able to exhaust the allocations on a weekly basis as market dynamics have changed significantly in the last 3 weeks |
