Good day gurus @folaroyal @osemigho @mikymiko @michv @justwise @austinepee4 @yemdogg @thesoj @nelly28 @AllOfYouInTheHouse
Please after submitting my application, can I link it online the same day? If yes after linking it online will they medical mail still come? How will I receive notification to go for medicals?
What is the advantage of linking the application online?
According to VFS, applications are sent and recieved by the embassy on the next business day after submission. So if you submitted yesterday, you can link your app from today.

Once you link, any further instruction, correspondence and request SHOULD be sent through your account(although sometimes they can still send to emails). CIC will attach these documents in the correspondence area of your account. However, you'll be prompted through your email address to log into your account each time there is an update or request for anything.(if you ticked the box to get notifications)

The major advantage is getting real time updates on your application as well as checking your application status anytime of the day.

Hello House,

I want to apply for Canadian study permit via Online - route. Now I want to know if Police certificate is compulsory considering the fact that I just came back from India 2 weeks ago. Every other document is ready apart from the Police Certificate which I can't get now. Kindly advise, once again application is online route.

Regards

How long have you lived in India? You will need it if you have been residing in your home country and if you have lived in India for up to six months, you would need that of India too. Look it up here http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

Thank you very much Osemigho for your indept advise on the question by a fellow nairalander. Pls I want to seize this opportunity to ask for your advise/guide as i wish to apply for msc in mechanical engr hopely for fall 2017 but my undergrad was in pet engr and my gpa is 3.0/5.0 with 4yrs experience as a project engineer with mechanical engr related responsibilities. Pls what are my chances of getting admitted or do i preferably go for a pgd. Pls I will greatly appreciate your reponse and that of other experienced nairalanders. Thank you.
Some school consider GPA of last two years of study, while others consider overall GPA. I don't know your MSC chances but if I will generalise, with no knowledge of your last two years GPA, I would advise you stay away from high and mid ranked schools or get PGD in your field. Thank you.

I'm currently trying to apply online for the study permit, but apparently i cant seen to find a location allocated for upload of my weac, birth certificate the likes. All i can see here are; Application Form(s) - Application for Study Permit Made Outside of Canada (IMM1294) (required), Supporting Documents - Passport (required) - Letter of Acceptance (required) - Proof of Means of Financial Support (required) - Digital photo (required) - Family Information (IMM5645) (required), Optional Documents - Schedule 1 - Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside Canada (IMM 5257) - Letter of Explanation. Please does anyone on here have experience with applying online? Thank you in Advance!

Good evening guys,
I have a urgent issue that require your advice.

I left Nigeria 4 years ago. Now I need to apply for a canadian study permit as soon as i receive my official offer letter. But I am presently stuck as to how to get police report from Nigeria especially if i have to use the address on cic website. It might not get to the right channel.
However, on the cic website, there is a statement that says "if you cant get a security report from.a country, please state the reason in a letter of explanation".

My question is, should I decide to explain, what could be a tangible reason?

Also, what would you advice generally?

Thank you.

that xe.com is not really reliable as CBN present official rate is 360/1$ and xe.com gives you 317/1$. so be careful before you bring yourself insufficient funds.

Bro, you mean it is no longer 375? This is good news.

God bless you all for all your contributions, I have benefited immensely. Please I have some questions. I submitted my application online on the 13th Feb 2017. I Did Biometrics on the 16th but it is still not uploaded on my online application status. I have emailed CIC Ghana no response.
Secondly, I would like to travel to USA but wondering if I can do the medicals before I travel next month ahead of CIC request.
Thirdly, can I courier my passport to the embassy while in the USA, when visa is approved?
Lastly, my daughter is US born, can I travel with her to Canada for my studies? Or need to apply for her Canada Visa too?.

Thanks gurus in the house , I appreciate your assistance with the above.

you don't have to be granted study leave. You can get a letter of introduction from your employer stating your position in your employment. You can also add pay slips and your salary account to prove employment.

During my application, I didn't submit police certificate because I used the online route. Police certificate is not compulsory for online route. Gurus in the house can shed more light on the above info provided please.

I just applied and would like to know to check my application status and also to know how to know when my documents have been received and worked on. Did you upload your certificates?

Usually if you apply online, you are ask to either upload your documents or send it to them.

However, you can send them a mail to know which documents they need, which they have gotten and that which is remaining.

Your cgpa can secure a masters admission for you provided you are able to secure a supervisor by coming up with good and sound research proposal. TRV on the other hand is temporary residence visa wch includes study visa and visiting visa. Yours would b study visa. Start by contacting supervisors that are in your area of interest.
