giles14:You think MTN Nigeria matters? You think MTN Nigeria is worth sh!t... Let me school you. MTN Nigeria is so useless it's not even in the top 25 largest companies in Africa.. The Naira is worth nothing. MTN Nigeria is nothing more than a milk cow for your government. It means nothing to South Africa.. Still... - South Africa has a greater PCI (that's buying power for you), - Larger State budget - Larger HDI - Better infrastructure, etc |

Does anyone know if the Marlin Missile would be integrated to the Hawks like the A-Darter?

ActivateKruger:Radar guided. So it depends on how good the connection on the Hawks is and if it is good enough to engage at those ranges. Seems like a waste IMO

patches689:Remember the A-Darter was integrated to the Hawk as an effort to weaponise the Hawk giving it some air fighting capabilities... The idea is to use the Gripen as a target tracker. So a group of Hawks on an offensive would be escorted by a Gripen.

ActivateKruger:Not really. Gives them self-defence capability. Would be useful in anti-helicopter ops. |

MikeCZA:All this effort just to kill a helicopter? Disappointed ![]() Think about it, the A-Darter is such a great AA missile, it wouldn't matter where it's launched. It doesn't need a radar so Hawks can sneak in behind a target especially those old MiGs and Sukhoi Su's with older mechanical radars then bang. |

ActivateKruger:When's the last time you read of a dog-fight? But should you get into one, A-Darter's got you covered. Plus, after completing your mission with either Umbani or dumb bombs, should you encounter targets of opportunity like enemy choppers, either cannon or A-Darter will do nicely. Though you'd better have a good excuse for using a missile on a chopper instead of the Aden. |

ActivateKruger:Self-defence. The tactics you are referring to here are used by 4th generation fighters. Typically in missions the Gripens will escort the Hawks. Again there more helis and transport aircraft than jets on the continent. Intercepting these with the Gripen would be useless. |

MikeCZA:as Frumentius stated, you'll need a very good reason to shoot down a heli with an A-Darter. Nevertheless, we need more dakah dakah in the air.

Henry240: The South African Air Force (SAAF) recently celebrated the qualification of its first African female C-130 Hercules commander.http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47278:sa-air-force-celebrates-first-african-female-c-130-commander&catid=111:sa-defence&Itemid=242 |

frumentius:My question is because, I think Blessing Liman from the Nigerian Air Force might be the first African female C-130 pilot. Airborne360, a bit of clarification required. Does Blessing liman fly the C-130 or DO-228 in NAF service? |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 7:41pm On Mar 29, 2017 |
Henry240:They meant first African female in the SAAF. And it's African as in racially. There've been white female C-130 pilots in the SAAF before. |
