And the senate can impeach the president rem that

If they can get 2/3 of the required votes.

Remember that most of them are criminals with many pending cases.. The executive will simply expedite actions and they all dont have immunity against arrest and prosecution.

They will not have the yansh to sit in one place to impeach someone by the time the executive finish with them. They are lucky they are not dealing with that old tout called OBJ..

This is an interesting time in Nigeria's democracy. What becomes of Nigeria, is solely dependent on the actions and in-actions of Nigeria's modern day Dictator, who I believed has fueled the amber of discord against the Legislative Arm of Government within his core Northern caucus aka cabal and the goings-on in their nocturnal meetings.

Is there any Nigerian by virtue of his position relative to his appointment by any of our Presidents, who has the effrontery to call The Senate, Childish and other derogatory names ?

I do not bother about the characters in the Senate, what bothers me is that each of those Senators, no matter how questionable their elections were, represent a people of each Constituency in this country. When one has so much confidence and power, because they 'know' this Buhari of a guy, and gather so much confidence to defy the orders of the Senate and even castigate that Upper Chamber, it makes me ponder if we are truly a democracy.

I think, we all need to put our bias aside and view this on a national periscope devoid of coloration of ethnicity, party-lines and religion.

We are bleeped, if we dont fix this growing impasse. Truth is, APC is gradually destroying our democratic institutions. No country has ever fought corruption successfully by personalizing democratic institutions.

We must learn to respect the Senate President and other Senators, not because of their personalities, but because of the Position they occupy.

We all know that Dino is more educated than Buhari, we also know that Bukola is more educated than Buhari, so there is a limit to what Buhari can achieve with his personal aggrandizement. Buhari has to be taught, to call his caucus to order. If their intention is to build Nigeria, then all Nigerians, including their personal enemies must be involved in nation building.

If this does not happen, I will personal step into the turf come 2019, and life will never be the same again.

Below was my comment on an earlier thread on this same matter. It is a shame that the Nigerian Senate has allowed itself to be reduced to this crass level.

"The role occupied by Professor Itse Sagay is not formally recognised by the constitution. He is at best a member of the President's "kitchen cabinet" who was appointed without any recourse to the legislature.

I doubt very much that the Senate has any legal right to invite him over a statement he can easily argue that he made in his personal capacity as a Nigerian citizen.

Like I said during the Hamidu Alli debacle, the Nigerian senate needs to pick its fight carefully. There is no need issuing ineffectual and pointless decrees and summons when it will only end up making itself look irrelevant in the scheme of things.

Itse Sagay might be a lot of things but one thing he has going for him is a deep knowledge of the Nigerian constitution both as a legal practitioner and a leading academic in that field. I can almost bet that he will be releasing a statement before the end of today trashing the senate's summon and upbraiding the hell out of them."

You are very correct..... clearly stated in Section 88-89

you dont allow your kids to insult an old man because the man is useless

this government is setting a bad precedence where any government appointee will be rude to the legislature

remember when you allow your kids to insult elders they will end up insulting you

there are better ways to handle the senate

Okay oya ask the professor of law to confirm the new REC and ministerial nominees. The Senate will grind the machinery of government until the president will have no other choice but to sack them to appease the Senate

Empty skull only the non-career nominees have to be confirmed, the career ones can serve in acting capacity forever.

Unfortunately I don't see this changing anytime soon, these are the kinds of irrelevant things they will keep chasing after until the final whistle is blown.

No policies
No direction
No investments
No long term plans or implementation
No strategy

How on earth will the country move forward?
Nigerians are in for it, anyway what's my own there.
The most painful part is that all the useless senators + federal government + state government + federal executive members + state governors & their executive team + head of different agencies both state & federal are all drawing allowances, feeding fat while the impoverish masses are crying daily and yet no response, l pity family members l have in Nigeria, l saw all this before l ran away years ago from the country and up-till date the news l read of happenings in Nigeria is shocking sad
