A shocking video has gone viral, which shows an Ethiopian housemaid clinging to a seventh-floor apartment railing, and her employer filming her instead of trying to save her.

Dangling by just one hand she hangs outside the window, begging for help as she stares seven stories down.

The terrified maid screamed “hold me, hold me”.
But instead of helping, the Kuwaiti woman – who is reportedly her employer – simply stands and films her.

The woman holding the camera is heard telling the hanging maid: “Oh crazy, come back.”

Then, in a heartstopping moment, her grip finally fails her and she plummets seven floors, smashing into a metal awning.

But her employer does not even seem to react, instead she simply followed her down with the camera before posting the footage to social media, Al-Seyassah newspaper reported.

Miraculously the African worker survived her fall, which is said to have come about as the result of a last minute change of heart during a suicide attempt.

A second video shows emergency workers helping the woman down a ladder after her death-defying fall.

Paramedics rushed her to hospital where she was found to have suffered a broken arm and bleeding from her nose and ear, it was reported.

Cops have now referred the employer to prosecutors for failing to help the victim, the newspaper said

The reasons for the maid’s attempted suicide, meanwhile, have not been revealed.
The Kuwait Society for Human Rights on Friday called on the authorities to investigate the case and refer it to court.

How do we know for sure she was about to commit suicide? Does her scream sound like that of one who wants to commit suicide or one who wants to live?

I really don't know what you expected a weakling Kuwaiti Arabian woman to do in such circumstances.
That glassy frame may not help matters at all. the whole thing is really scary.
She may not have had the strength to hold unto the girl's hand and pull her up like a super woman.
Even if she had tried, how do we know the frame the girl held unto would've supported them both.
The frame could've given way and they both plunge to death.
That video evidence and her speech may've been in effort to help save her own ass.

I would've been scared to even think of making any attempt. Just take a look at the low level of what she held unto bearing in mind it may've just been Aluminum and glass frame.
Bending low to hold the girl may've made her tip over and fallen with her.

Yes you've made reasonable points. She could've reacted just as you've stated but we have no further information on what actually happened other than make assumptions. Calling 911 as you suggested may not help her case better than the video. The girl would've fallen even before the call goes through.
The short info leaves much room for assumptions to thrive.
I don't really think she could've pushed the maid there and left her hanging by one hand. Information we have is that it was an attempted suicide so thinking she pushed her there is way off point. She couldn't have placed her there and telling her to get back in.
I also wondered why the maid hung by one hand assuming she had two and calling her madam to hold her.
The courts will be able to find out what really transpired and met out justice but if you ask me, i see the Arabian working out of this except enough grounds where found for prosecution based on what had been happening between the two prior to that incidence.
I also see the girl's survival as an advantage for the Arabian Lady.
Wish there could be updates on this for us to know how it all went. The girl might even be the one to get the axe at the courts.
