Amen. How far have you gone regarding Zotero? I learnt it within 30 minutes using videos I downloaded from YouTube.... I must say Zotero is a powerful citation and Bibliography Software. You can cute 50 journal articles with just a few seconds click here and there....

yea the software is bomb. Before now, I have been doing it manually, but now Zotero is automating it for me.

It was a very rough month. Notwithstanding, things are getting better.

There is a consensus that people should learn elsewhere (through google and youtube)how to use the Zotero in other to save time, I will now focus on how to avoid plagiarism. This is a very important aspect of this training. Many people can write but only few can write to beat plagiarism particularly when you have to use (in great deal) other people's work (I mean citing other people's write-ups).

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

There are four (4) major ways to avoid plagiarism. These include:
1. Paraphrasing
2. citing
3. Quoting
4. Referencing

1. Paraphrasing
Paraphrasing practically refers to reading relevant texts/materials with the purpose of understanding the main idea and writing it in your own word. This means that you should avoid verbatim reproduction of what you have read. Do not play clever by changing the words in a sentence with another similar word (synonym) because the 'almighty plagiarism checker' (for instance, Copyscape/Turnitin) will flag it as plagiarized. Let us look at a scenario (remember, this tutorial/training is down-to-earth and will be very practical). Let us assume that we are working with the attached paper.

Note: Abstract, as shown in the pictorial attachment, is a good place to find the original contributions of a study. It is academically wrong to use secondary information/sources in a material (article, thesis, review etc). You have to look for the original and confirm secondary submissions/statement/fact. You must, however, do this sparingly and with great care to avoid plagiarism. What does this tell us? It means you must be able to identify primary and secondary contributions/submission in a given material. How do you do this, find out in the next page.

You can just find an image that is free to use without any attribution (Don't try downloading any picture on the internet because you will be breaching copyright laws and it can put you in trouble).

You can get free pictures on these sites - pixabay or compfight.

You can then use either coreldraw, photoshop or Microsoft paint to customize it by writing your username and a slogan that depicts the value in your services. This is what I did before I later added a video.

I only know of Google translate. But for an academic literature, I believe it would be futile effort to even try.
