Hello Great guru's in the house.. please i have a big question that has been bordering me and i need urgent response please guys. Have received my admission letter and i-20. But i didn't write any exam like TOFEL or SAT but i did well English in my O' level result and the school didn't ask for any of those and i also saw this on the school website:-

ETSU is no longer requiring SAT or ACT scores for admission from international students who complete secondary education outside of the United States.   ETSU strongly advises that students who take the SAT or ACT request scores to be sent to ETSU in the event that the students want to apply for scholarships.  Students who do not submit official SAT or ACT scores to ETSU will be required to take the COMPASS test upon arriving on campus.  The COMPASS test results determine placement in university level courses. Submitting SAT or ACT scores would eliminate the requirement to test upon arrival at ETSU.

ACT/SAT scores may be recommended or required if:

·   the applicant is applying for competitive scholarships;
·   the applicant is applying for admission into a specific program;
·  the applicant believes test scores provide further evidence of academic ability; or
·  the applicant is a prospective student-athlete.
Information about programs that require ACT/SAT scores is available on the websites that describe the program.

Now my big question is? What will i tell the VO if am been ask Did you write any Exam..?

Please kindly advice me on what to say @ Lagosismyhome, Fedoricko, happyday Walspring.

Taking standardize test is not a perquisite to obtaining a travel visa. On the other hand, it add to the strength of your entire application.
As stated above, all who didn't take the SAT would be made to take a COMPASS test to determine their placement.
In my opinion you should have taken the SAT. At least that would have made you eligible for some sort of financial aid. Well, your folks may be up to the financial tasks.
Wish you all the best.

Ouch! This is a case of eating your cake and wants to have it. This isn't even a matter of the VO (that's a later discussion).
Let's take it from the scholarship horn. Except you are super hyper financially buoyant, 4 years international undergraduate tuition and expenses ain't no joke in the US (financially) so a scholarship would have been the best bet.

Secondly, even if you decide to proceed without a scholarship, you would still take the COMPASS test upon arrival which is equivalent to the SAT you evaded meaning you still took a standardized test anyway. Why not take the SAT that guarantees a scholarship since you would still be required to take another test?
That's not a smart move if you ask me. You really don't want to be struggling with financial burdens while trying to focus on your academics.

As for the VO part- Well, I'll say you should be more worried about the financial aspect of your education and I sincerely wish you all the very best with your interview.

If that be the case, all you need is to prove to the VO you are financially capable if asked. smiley

Give it at least a year... Here, they don't recommend you take all science courses in one semester. Courses like anatomy and physiology 1&2, chemistry, microbiology and sometimes nutrition. You have to space them in two semesters and add some non-science prerequisite courses to them to make it 12 hours. And mind you, all the courses I listed are 'with lab', hence 4 units.

You might be exempted you took the courses in the last ten years...

To add to this, A and P I&II alone will take him a full year. I in fall and II in spring. I is prereq to II. At the bold, most PA schools have changed the age of their science preqs (especially A&P and micro) to < 7 yrs.

ANY MORE ADVICE ON THE ABOVE FROM THE GURUS IN THE HOUSE

The score is poor..yes, but carry it with you..Chances are that you'll not be asked. Just show it if asked. Your UG CGPA along with a short convincing argument why you didn't do well on the GRE would go a long way..if asked for details about it.

nobody can predict anything oooo.......... This is very possible to go for student visa after a rejection however you need to be able to convince the VO that you are a credible student and not a runaway immigrant ..... In this Trump era , anybody running away is just a joker as it is very difficult to survive illegally .

Anyway back to the topic yes it possible , but it on you to prove you are credible

Hi bosses @LagosNIV @imperiouxx @lagosismyhome,

Please I studied Botany in my undergraduate but now i work in a bank. However, I got admission to graduate studies in botany.
Does answering that I work in a bank have a negative bearing on the visa decision, should the question come up?
Thank you

No. In Nigeria, anyone can work in a bank. You have to work anywhere to survive while you're planning a higher studies. You're a Botanist, now going for Botany.... Welcome home!

Have done that yesterday though, besides I rescheduled for 20th but I just want to be double sure I have the correct barcodes they complained for the first. The barcode on the ds-160 is now the same with the one on my visa interview confirmation page. And is still the same as the new application Id I was given. I want to believe all this aforementioned details are right Bro, thanks for your quick response

Maybe If you post your visa transcript, gurus could look into it, see where things went wrong and suggest a solution. And YES you can always reapply if you want
