ExplorerReturns: This is one of the much talked about emotional sensationalism Igbos are well known for. A parcel of land was wilfully signed away by FG in the 70s, which makes the treaty a legally binding document anywhere in the world. Cameroon called for the implementation of th treaty and the matter was taken to Court and Cameroon won again based on available document. In fact there were documents that showed the land belongs to Germany (the 1st colonial master of Cameroon) and after world war II, all lands belonging to Germany were shared as war spoils between France and England. England took the Northern part of Cameroon and France took the Southern part. By extension, and by virtue of inheritance of German's estate Bakassi was that of France and after independence it should have been for Cameroon. Nigeria used the pennisula as one of the blockade point during the Civil war. Nigeria was actually trespassing on another country's land. Likewise, the boundary adjustment favoured Nigeria in the North because that is the Anglophone area of Cameroon. Even if it was Sultan's palace, or Onitsha it would have been ceded to Cameroon. That tells you the power of a signed document. Why was it easy for China to reclaim back Hong Kong from UK? Why did UK not renege on the 99years old signed document? Why has Russia not woken up today to reclaim back Alaska or Mexico claiming Texas back? Why is Israel still holding on to Palestinians land and Golan Heights of the Syrians but wilfully returned back to seized Jordanian land for a piece of paper of recognition and peace? That is the power of signed documents in International Law. 1 Like |

SuperS1Panther:what you wrote is trash! Nigerian army are cowards. the land was given to cameroun so that Nigerian troops can be allowed to march through cameroun and penetrate our eastern border from calabar during the war. Nigeria is a weak country and the land was given to cameroun under the administration of obasanjo an afonja coward! cameroun did all their Gra Gra during shehu shagari and abacha regime but nothing happened! if the army can't go to war with cameroun over Nigeria's territorial integrity then one day cameroun or chad will cease borno and north east 2 Likes |

ExplorerReturns: As usual, Osus resort to name calling when given irrefutable facts facts figures. If cowardice is not fighting over a parcel of land that was never ours ab initio, so be it. It saved the country loss of lives, wanton destruction and wasting of our resources on avoidable war. That is the virtue Osus lack, no wonder 3m souls perished for nothing, their lands were destroyed, they were taken war slaves, and they are being used as target practise up till this day. 2 Likes |

SuperS1Panther: your hypocrisy stinks to high heavens! were did I resort to name calling? was there any insult in my reply to you or is afonja no longer a Yoruba name. so the war was avoidable but wasn't Biafra war that lead Gowon to signing such dubious agreement not avoidable? what is hard in allowing eastern Nigeria, which comprises the peninsula your leaders dashed to cameroun, to be on their own? since Igbo's were massacred in 1966 pogrom why didn't the Gowon led government allow us to secede and save the 500000 Nigerian soldiers that died in the avoidable war? 1 Like |

ExplorerReturns: You were civil until you bought you started your name calling. Is Osu no longer an Igbo name too? The Biafra war was avoidable if the 1st coup plotters have not staged the coupr or if they had killed all the leaders of all the regions and not being selective in their killings and if Orizu had not handed power to Ironsi at the expense of Dipcharima. Eastern whatever can go to Timbuktu or Kandahar, nobody gives a hoot. Just follow the proper civil channel. Please be reminded that Eastern Nigeria does not comprise modern day Edo and Delta, with Asaba inclusive. Gowon could not have allowed you to secede because you stated the bloodletting and their was a reprisal attack and you were not allowed to run away after the effect of your stup1d action. Abraham Lincoln also prevented secession of Southern America. So no be today!!! The soldiers lost died for their fatherland but they ensured they killed over 3m of women and children (minus the men) before they died, which gave Nigeria the victory. |

SuperS1Panther: trash again! okay let us assume that the coup was selective which wasn't and comprises the tree major tribes, less than a hundred lives were lost and over 30k Igbo's were killed. so why still did your fathers choose to waste their lives dieing to be united with Igbo's? you claimed that a war with cameroun was avoidable wasn't Biafra war avoidable after massacring over 30k Igbo's and taking your pound of flesh? 1 Like |

SuperS1Panther: you are still wrong. the north west and south west of Cameroon is English speaking. so the bakassi peninsula was an English territory which belongs to Britain and Nigeria by extension. the indigenous tribe are the oron people who occupies the coastline of akwa ibom and cross rivers state. France has oil interest in eastern Nigeria in fact that was her reason for their limited support of Biafra. France has always coveted the oil rich land, seeing that Biafra wont win the war, and also seeing the opportunity to deceive the illiterate Nigerian government proposed to Nigeria to allow her move her troops through Cameroon and in return Nigeria will give cameroun the land after the war is won. 2 Likes |

SuperS1Panther: Let me start by what you wrote last. You said that Lincoln prevented the secession of Southern America, yes he did and he was entitled to do that because America was created by agreement. America is legal because the original 13 colonies came together in 1776 and agreed to be one nation when they signed the American declaration of independence. I have never seen or heard of any document, meeting, agreement or situation where Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba came together and formally agreed to be one nation. While America is a legal union, Nigeria is still the fraudulent colonial entity created in 1914. Because Nigeria is a fraud, all the ethnic nationalities that the British criminal called Lugard assembled in 1914 and frog-marched at gunpoint in the evil union of Nigeria reserve the right to opt out of Nigeria, either individually or collectively. Blaming the first coup is myopic. Symptoms that Nigeria would not work started as far back as 1945 with the kano massacre and the 1953 Jos Massacres. Nigeria has proved to the entire world that it cannot be a nation by killing over 3 million of its brethren to stay one, yet, they are not one. The same the 'armed' methods employed by Lugard to create Nigeria is still what is used to to hold it together. As an Igbo man who belongs to a tribe of over 40 million people, I feel quite embarrased that Gambia of less than 2 million, not even up to the population of Enugu, can be a country but I dont have my own country. How is that possible? How can a foreign land called Abuja be my capital? What histocal ties do I have with Hausa and Yorubas? It remains the sacred right of us Igbos and the minorities who are comfortable with us to exit the colonial contraption called Nigeria whenever we want. Lord Lugard has gone back home, we should all do the same |

It will be foolhardy for IPOB to join partisan politics. IPOB as a pressure group has done marvellously well. I like the fact they are present in over 90 countries and spreading. I believe their next biggest task is to sensitise the south south more and carry them along. Theirs need for IPOB to align with like minds in the south south or even the south west and middle belt. With the level of awareness they have created in the last two years, people are really beginning to look up to them for direction. I believe if they continue piling the pressure on the Nigerian state, two things will happen, a restructured Nigeria with an exit clause and time frame for such for any of the geolopolitical zone or zones or Nigeria ceases to exit the Yugoslavia way. The truth remains that with the coming of IPOB, the political north is worried and are at their widths end on how to confront it. Offers has been thrown at IPOB leadership which they willingly turned down. Please you IPOB guys should tell nnamdi kalu no to give in to their offers or threats when they fail at the carrots being thrown at him. kalu remains not just the face of the IPOB struggle but that of every oppressed Nigerian who is fed with Nigeria as we know it. The biggest mistake the Nigerian state has made is arresting and keeping Kalu in prison, that singular act has made him the face of the struggle and no political power is bigger than that . You kill IPOB the day u turn them into a political party. 3 Likes 1 Share |

blues20:We are not against Biafra neither are we for it . But I honestly believe that we in the Niger delta can Coase our forces around the biafran movement like IPOB and achieve results that serves our collective best interests. What IPOB is doing presently is what MEND could have done but MEND got their vision, focus and agenda all wrong and at the end they sold out. The Niger delta needs a well organised pressure group like IPOB. The last time I checked the struggle seem to have been left for few Ijaw people who are also positioning themselves for a pay out. Fact remains we are too narrow minded in the Niger delta and we lack the cohesiveness and leadership we are seeing in IPOB. To move forward, I believe those of us in the Niger delta area should take a stand with IPOB but for Niger delta emancipation instead of becoming a part of a Biafran state. We can take a que from countries like India , Pakistan and Bangladesh. Or even Sao tome and principe etc 1 Like |

warripekin:This is a great submission. With the level of power IPOB is wielding, the last thing on their mind should be to engage in partisan politics. if they ever attempt it, then they will become like massob and it would take another 10 years for a new group to catch the vision. Truth is, with the way things are going, IPOB will get what they are looking for. The only condition though is to "NEVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH NIGERIA" |
