When he was knacking the Akpako did he solicit the support of the Government, well-meaning Nigerians and philanthropists?

Carry your crosses o. Buhari already has too many things to worry about

Stop being dumb...
Even an average earning man can't care for five babies.
In the western world where people are gainfully employed, the Government provides welfare for multiples till they turn 18.
I doubt you are a parent for making such comment

Right.

Why do these people always appeal to 'government' to help them?

If government told them to use birth control would the listen? Or would they get angry?

I get your point, and indeed I get very VERY pissed off when I see these indigent peeps bringing unneeded battalions into the world. And then they start disturbing 'government and well-meaning individuals' to come to their aid. No one says poor people cannot have children, but for goodness sake why don't they bring just the ones they can take off?? Useless people!! angry

HOWEVER. .

In this particular case, I think we should cut the husband some slack. HE probably was expected just one, which they (him and wify) probably would have been able to cater for (the wife is employed). But getting FOUR additional babies clearly comes with a lot of unexpected expsenses

I could be entirely wrong but I get the impression that these guys were using something to increase fertility which is why they ended up with 5.

Knowing how much emphasis some people put on reproduction I wouldn't be surprised. I just wish they put as much emphasis on quality of up-bringing and preparation for parenthood.

This man is blessed ..a job is no blessing compared to this, maybe God wants him in business, but God definitely loves this man

Northerners breed like this too and you can see what that has caused.

Can we please be rational about this issue instead of hiding behind the myth that children are a blessing from god.

Birth control for first pregnancy?
Government take care of multiples in other countries.

If you can't fend for yourself how do you plan on raising 5 children?

It is completely foolish and irrational what this couple of have done and the fact that so many people on this forum cannot see that is why you keep having to endure 'leaders' who come from within your own ranks and take you all for granted.

Keep producing anyhow whilst crying about a lack of development. It's your own stupid custom and your own doing.

They could have cared for one baby alone.
Are they God that gave them 5?
If you can't help, keep mute.

Which government takes care of multiples? What are their demographics - do they have large expanding populations like Nigeria or shrinking populations like Japan, Romania or Russia?

Why would the Nigerian FG or state governments look to encourage rapid population growth when the people are doing so already without any idea on how to care of their children?

I do not have 5 children nor would I have 5 children because it is irresponsible.

This is not good for the economy.

One is unemployed and he is busy overpopulating the country and increasing poverty rate in the country.

Well I won't blame them, even nairaland celebrates couples with 10children as if its an achievement, not knowing that they are overpopulating the country.
I am so shocked at this your comment. If you have nothig to say just keep quiet.
1. Is it the parents fault that God blessed dem with 5 children at a go?
2. Should dey kill the babies because dere is poverty in d country?
3. So because he is unemployed, he shouldnt give birth again?
4. It can only be bizzare if d couples keep giving birth despite their financial status.

Mhiztenderly, just keep quiet if u have nothig to say. ?mtschweeeeee

I'm trying to educate you and you're still sounding ignorant. Multiple pregnancy is almost never planned.
So never budgeted for. Hence, Government intervention. This is their first pregnancy and they got this. Should they kill them?
If you can't help, leave them alone.

It is not a good thing at all.

Most of Nigeria's problems can be explained by way of the ridiculous rate of reproduction.

The leaders (political, traditional and religious) can take advantage of the population because they know it is a large, seemingly endless well of cheap labor, poverty and desperation.

My dear.
Shebi it's the same way other men release into their wives that he released his own?

Did he command the quintuplets while doing the do?

I understand your point, but in saner climes, large populations are meant to be an advantage.

It is different if he just gives birth 5 times.

If na me born JUST Three at a go like this, omo na to build duplex then close the book of revelations o grin grin grin grin

One day a native doctor, visited a pharmacist and purchased 100 tablets of Clomid. He crushed the pills into a powder and repackaged it as an herbal fertility remedy. A newly married wife was eager to conceive and asked her good friend Ifeoma, if she knew about any herbs which could help her get belle quickly. Ifeoma referred her to one local native doctor, Baba JoJo, who had very powerful gifts from the spirits. She rushed to Baba Jojo and he gave her 6 bags of his herbal powder. Baba Jojo forgot to tell her about the pharmaceutical grade medicine contained in his powder, but he may have forgotten. However, he told her to remember him when the spirits bless her womb and that one child should given back to the spirits, or at least give a monetary offering to the shrine. A few months later, the new wife delivered 5 pikin and now wonders what will be the fate of her fifth child if she does not get some additional money. lipsrsealed

It's not about the size of the population it is about quality. Until Nigerians stop shouting about size or number and realize that it is quality that matters then the problems that plague Nigeria will persist.

These people did not have 5 children by accident. I'm pretty sure that they were (mis)using some form of fertility medication and that is why they had so many in one swoop.

hmmmmm
are you sure?

so there is a medication that influences multiple birth.

what I know is that yam is a big culprit.
and you can't easily separate a typical Yoruba man from his Amala (which is a yam derivative).
