Thank you so much!

Do you know the name of the form he is to fill at the Canadian Consulate in Lagos?
Or should he just walk in and ask?

JESUnifemi4eva:
Hi Ncify,

scan the.dicument to him, get him to scan back with a coloured scanner...then complete the form.

your husband will also need to fill a form at the Canadian Consulate before your baby's passport will be released to you.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Ncify: 5:17pm On Mar 22, 2017
Thank you so much!

The birth certificate has both our names.
Do you have any idea how long processing the form in Lagos will take, please?

rolorolo:
@ Ncify,

My husband was not around too when I applied for my baby's Canadian passport this year.

What information do you have on the birth certificate? If you are the only person listed under the parent section on the birth certificate, your husband's signature will not be required on the application for the Canadian passport.

If your husband name is indicated on the birth certificate, he will be required to sign some forms at the Canadian Consulate office in Nigeria before the passport can be processed.

All the best.

It doesn't matter. My family friend was already preggy when she applied but she did online application and there was nowhere they asked if she's preggy or not so she didn't indicate. She wasn't called for interview either and was given 4 yrs visa.

Now to the info everyone is itching to hearsmiley this is not MHIS Cuz Canadian system is different since our health care is free. Lemme explain.

So for her,

1. Dr fee was 750
2. Hospital was 2500 per day and she stayed just a day nd it's CS Ooo
3. Anesthesia..640

Total is 3890 CAD

The baby paid nothing because immediately he was born, he's Canadian so his health card which was given immediately at the hospital made it free. All the specialist that came to check him like eye, hearing etc was free. So this is the part that in US that adds up cuz baby have to pay.

@ Hotstepper please what's the name of the hospital could help a sister.

Hi Ncify, don't worry you will be given the details at the passport office and probably with a reference number.to forward to your husband. (I think its to get the fathers consent as well as information about your baby's location in Nigeria etc)

I paid for express passport service and got it in about 5days or so (can't really remember).

Cheers!

This is not true as long as you have sufficient funds to cover your tourist expenses. People opt for the invite because you wont need to declare much funds to back up your visiting purposes.

awash:
@Hotstepper

I want to apply for tourist visa but i was told that the Canada don't grant visa based on tourist unless you have a host that will give you invitation letter; please can you give me more detail on the issue.
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by Fiwajoluwa(f): 4:10pm On Mar 23, 2017
This is true. A lot of nigerians living abroad dont know jack about nigerians who just want to travel for various purposes. Most of them live in fear and wont let you do things the right way. Best way to get info is to as fellow nigerians who live here and have gone for whatever reason you are now going. Imagine an a nigerian living in america aguing with me that i cant drive with my intl drivers license and wont even believe its legal to drive inter state. i dey tire for our nigerians living abroad. Most nigerian visitors are more informed than them. God help us

Nita2013:
Wow..... its obvious something went wrong somewhere. But even if it was ur host that informed them, just ignore. I kno its not easy but try and calm down. Go for d interview and hear what they av to say. If u r pardoned God be praised and if not accept it like that and av ur baby in naija.

One thing i realise about many Nigerians abroad is that we over here av more info than them. But some will ask further for more explanation while some will do oversabi and end up causing problem for d person. Some font believe one can actually apply for visa and declare purpose as childbirth while some will say hide the pregnancy to enter because they think if one declares, its automatic deportation etc

I pray all will be well and let Gods will be done. Cheers

True that! However just don't know if they deliberately feign ignorance some times or they are that much lacking information-wise.... The strength and unassuming exactitude with which they stand their grounds on empty soil awes me really.

Think it's the same reason that makes some people think Africans live on trees.
Besides, they don't need that information but many of us here need the information, thus we need to dig deeper.

Hi All, Hot stepper especially

I have read through a good part of this thread. Thanks a million to those who have shared their experiences and stories of people that they know.

I am about 3 months gone. Fresh passport but want to go have my baby in CA with my two kids and mum.

Please
1) how do i go about applying for all of us and can anyone provide an estimate of how much funds I need to have in order to secure our visas.

2) I also do not have any close relation to stay with so I most likely would have to rent an apartment for at least two months (one/two bed, depending on the cost) - Please advise on best location in terms of affordability, quality care and ease of mobility so I can make up my mind

Your prompt response will be greatly appreciated.

Congrats!

I dont have any experience with Visa so you have to try your luck. however, doing paper application instead of online will be faster and better for you.

Toronto or anywhere in the GTA will be better for you. 1 bedrom apartment can go for 1k dollars .

Good luck

For a place to stay, you should look at airbnb.ca, you will be able to find an apartment for a short stay near the hospital.if you will be in toronto,i can assist in helping you organise things a little.Good luck

Nairalanders pls come and share your recent canadian birth experiences. I am contemplating on Canada or USA and i have been to both countries. There isnt much difference with the baby birth for both countries as i heard except for the expenses. Pls kindly share your recent experiences as i need to start looking for flights and doctors to take me. How much you ended up spending in total and stuff like that. Una Biko o! i will be waiting for your nice replies. God will bless you all oh as i dont wanna go the american way if canada is almost the same and cheaper. I would be happy to save some of our hard earned naira on the mission.

Hello all I've been trying to post my experience but it's not submitting
Re: Giving Birth In Canada by BlessedMD2: 4:59am On May 03, 2017
Hello people, greetings

So for the little information I have for now, here it goes....

I arrived Calgary safe and without any hassle, when I say no hassle, my time spent at Poe was about 2 minutes tops.
Got in, settled down and my search began for an ob/gyn

It wasn't easy as everyone I called asked if I had insurance because they can't accept cash payments.

I finally got a referral to a Dr at Foothils hospital Calgary Alberta.

I visited the first time and for the first visit I paid $180 cad, and subsequent visits will be 60cad.
Then he examined me and said all is well and from the tests results I brought(thanks to informants here, God bless you all) that I won't be needing any more tests. Im due in June 2017 by their calculations/report, but by God's grace I'm praying for my specific due date grin during my safe period in Jesus name amen.

Now to the part that amazed me undecided he gave me a break down of his fees.

Dr fee 5000cad(this excludes all your prenatal check ups oh! Hmmm. Well I have just a few checks IF I will use him)
Hospital 4765cad
Baby 1968
Epidural 1500 cad
Hospital admittance fee 865
tongue

I was speechless cos everything he told me is completely different from what I have been reading here though it's not specifically on Calgary doctors, but I did a rough estimate from findings here.

I got home, called rocky view hospital and they said their hospital fee is 3488 and baby is 1968cad, that they have no idea about doctors fee, that I would have to get a dr to know that and the epidural fee too.

So here I am thinking if I should "jejely go to the aarmrika" or keep searching or go to another state cos I'm tired cos we budgeted 6k for everything.

Advice my people. Thanks and God bless you all
