Hi, you guys are doing a great job. I have been following the discussions here for quite a while now. I was admitted to Texas A&M University-Kingsville to study Chemical Engineering(MSc), was given $8k+ scholarship. I made the necessary payments already and I have my I-20 with me. Filled the DS-160 as well as paid the visa application fee. School resumption is Aug 10 and I have plans to schedule and interview next month is that too early? Also, I just passed out from nysc and currently unemployed can that affect my visa approval?
looking forward to your feedback guys.

I have been a silent follower of this thread for about a year now and want to say thank you to everyone that has kept the thread active. You guys are doing a great job. My visa was approved this morning in Abuja.

Me: Good Morning
VO: good morning, pass me your passport (I hand it over and he scanned it)

VO: Let me have your I-20 (did as requested and he took time to examine it)

VO: Tell me more about this program at Kansas State
Me: I am going for a Phd in Computer science and will be working as a research assistant for Prof Bleep and we will be working on research YYYYY

VO: Okay, why Kansas State
Me: I wanted a school with high research pedigree and KSU's research activity is rated R1 by Canergie classification of higher institution.

VO: Have you travelled before.
Me: No, never had reasons to

VO: what is your highest qualification
Me: I have a Msc in Computer Science

VO: Your Visa has been approved (returned I-20 and handed me the white paper) this form tells you how to pick up your passport (handed me another paper) and this describes how you enter the United State as a student. Congrats and enjoy your stay in the US.

PS: Information is power and will like prospective students to put in the time and effort into preparing/writing tests, searching for schools, writing statements etc. The process might look long but it's worth it.
Congratulations. Got mine approved in Lagos yesterday

The bolded words don't go together in a sentence except you plan to do another standardized test.If you want funding, be ready to put in the work required.

The answers to all your questions is No. Just prepare well for the interview, your chances of getting it is high with your scholarship. I will advise you schedule as early as possible next month so that you can prepare well for your travel and get cheap flight

I read Microbiology in my undergrad and I took Biochem classes. Biochem and Nursing are in the science field but not directly related. Instead of doing an Associate degree, you can go for Biomedical sciences or apply straight for Nursing/Pre-Nursing. I know for sure studying Nursing as other majors is really stressful but its very possible. Why spend $$ on Associate degree when you can go for a masters. I am currently studying public health MS and I have folks in my class who read Dentistry*, Exercise science, biochem etc. So just explore all your options and most importantly look at the classes that will be offered.
Thanks....plz whats d name of your School,i am interested in doing Masters in public health, already carrying out research....plz assist me plz.i have to do a Masters that relates to my Nursing.cox i am already practising

While it is possible that a good number of students fall out of status, I refuse to believe that a majority a students have it premeditated. This is a public forum, speculations of this sort makes things difficult for genuine students like us.

Now to answer your question, when a student who enters the country with a student visa doesn't resume sch, he falls out of status and becomes an illegal immigrant. And from what I hear, it's better to be out here in Nigeria than to be an illigal immigrant in the US. You'd have to constantly look over your shoulders. And the day you run outta luck, you're back to MMA Lagos.

Anyone resuming ETSU for Fall, 2017?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 11 by Nobody: 6:17pm On Apr 27, 2017
You better not reason that way. If you are not ready for school, just stay in Nigeria and hustle. And don't use "most Nigerians" believe me a good number of Nigeria who went there to school are in school and they are doing well. Don't let your illegal immigrant friends deceive you.

You will enjoy USA only when you go to school. So if you want to travel better have good intention.

Why not suffer for like 4to 5 years in school and get a certificate, get a good job and live a good life than to be illegal and do petty jobs all the rest of your life.
