Hmmmmmmmm this is really serious in this part of the world. As in you clock 30 and you don’t have a serious guy you are dating, you start hearing comments like “how far?”, “what is really happening?”, “didn’t you have a boyfriend when you were in school?” God help you, your younger sister or a friend that is younger than you is getting married you will hear comments like “God will do your own oo”, “a pe ko to jeun ko ni je ibaje” meaning “a patient dog eats the fattest bone”. That makes me to wonder if marriage is the greatest achievement on earth. I understand that they want to see their grandchildren because they are getting old but a lady will not go to the street to start begging a guy for marriage. I watched a Nigerian movie where a girl had to get a guy to disguise as her boyfriend because her parents were practically on her neck to get married. Lol! Guess what they fell in love and dated which led to marriage. Yayyyyyyyy! That was what she wanted anyway. My question is, Is it fair for parents to put pressure on their daughters to get married? It is very wrong for parents to put pressure on their children to get married because he/she might go for the wrong choice just to satisfy them.Morever divorce is very rampant in this 21st century so we must be extremely careful in decision making(marriage inclusive).But as a lady,it is advisable to get married before the age of 30 because of our society,our norms and traditions though it is not compulsory. Most men are afraid to marry a lady above 30 because of the myth surrounding menopause. 3 1 Like |
