Good evening gurus and experienced pros in the house. Pls there are somethings that have been bothering me for some time and I need clarification on them:
1. I had a really low GPA : 2.60/5.0. However, my latter days in school were much better that the former. When WES is evaluating a transcript, do they use the full academic transcript or do they use from 3rd year or 4th year in a 5year program?
2. I have already applied to a school with a rolling admission but they insist on me providing document of financial support before I'm given admission. Is this abnormal

Please, anyone who has an answer to these questions should pls not hesitate to respond.

Thanks

Visa fee is $160 ..... so at 54000k they were using 337.50 which is still high compared to official rate

Now US embassy is using 400 naira times $160 making it 64,000 naira .

Does anyone know how they make formal complain in Nigeria......i definitely want to join the complain.... This is not right and i think bloggers and others should complain so that they can review and use official rate

1. Schools will want to see the whole transcript, so yes, they use the whole thing. But it'll be a plus for your final GPA if your grades in the 4th and 5th years are better than the rest.
2. They mean your admission depends on funding. They would only be able to admit you, if you can provide your own funding.

Thanks for the swift response.

If that is the case for 1. above, I hope that my GPA would be above 2.75/4.0 when it's evaluated.

Secondly, the school said something about issuing a revised I-20 if I get a GA which comes with tuition waiver. I guess this bolster the point you're trying to make right?

It's a pure shame... These people are cheating us in our own country and the government is looking the other way. Awful

Supported!!! We can even come together and use the power of social media. We have the number (population). Posting on fb and tweeting

Another thing, is it GTB or the Embassy that sets the rate? How does it work sef?

Isn't there a regulatory body that check and balances the excesses of this foreign exchange saga? 64k is way too much for visa fee. @LagosNIV pls something should be done about this.

Those dates are a function of when the rates will next be revised.

A bsc is a bsc all over the world ...... for the purpose of admission none is less than the other, what differentiate one applicant from the next is maybe grades (gpa) ....so yes Nigeria bsc is as valued as any other bsc

So if you have a bsc nothing stops you from moving to the next phaze which is MSC.

Lol. It doesn't always work like that. I always never imagined that the cost would rise giving that the Naira is continually gaining but it did. So come 12th the fee may either fall or rise again. One cannot really tell. But I guess it's time we stood for what we believe to be right. If only no one will pay that outrageous amount, then they'll have no option than to revise the fee. But even if you and I do not pay, there are a thousand visa hungry people who're ready to pay 200k for appointment.

I can confirm to you that many have used BSC from Nigeria Universities to further studies in almost every top uni in the world from Havard to Oxford . The list is endless. From highly ranked to no ranked universities ..... all you need is the will to put in the effort needed to succeed

I understand why you would ask such question. Makes sense! Which is why you need to be confident about what you have. From here on out, (and you'll need this if you want to apply for admission, visa, a job bla bla), be proud of what you have. Of who you are. Don't put yourself down even if others do.

Yes in some schools that made it compulsory as part of admission review decision

No in some schools that don't even ask for it..

@Walspring, Is d offer still available for TOEFL?

Walspring:
Happy new month all, It's been a while and to those who sent me pm and I didn't reply your email please don't be offended it's due to my busy schedules.

GRE, TOEFL and SAT 50% offer is out again, 5 people needed for GRE, 5 people for TOEFL and a single person for 1 SAT.

Courtesy of benevolent member of this thread because am just a middle man to oversee this, therefore no time to waste because the window offer already opened today and I won't wait for anyone to spend more than 48 hours to gather his/her 50%.

N.B--- It's not by force to benefit from this offer its all about your choice.

We should not be deceived because it will go up..

I can't imagine US embassy operating on BDC rate and I tagged it as scamming of the highest order with the help of either CBN or GTBank because all the foreign missionaries or embassy gets CBN rate and not BDC rate..

In a country where we have majority of our upper house and lower chamber studied business administration, marketing and anything related to such course then the lives of the citizens are used for business as usual because all what they will think daily is how to get more money out of the tax payer account or crude oil account to enrich themselves and they don't have time to put the country in order by sanctioning all these stuffs..
