This Episode is dedicated to everyone who stood and understood me all this while. Those who knew that breastfeeding and taking care of newly born twins no be beans. I appreciate. The likes of Prettyhurts mama who called to check up on me, Ochyglowglows who also called and Gloria007 who texted me. I really appreciate and may God bless u all. And for those who said my voice sounded like a child, o ga oo. Na small thing make me escape from Helen Paul's type of voice. Lol.

Freda stared wide-eyed at Ijeoma after carefully handing her phone back to her. She couldnt believe it 'this is not true' She mumbled.

'you just watched the video for yourself. I saw you with my two clear eyes Chief Freda' Ijeoma smirked.

'this is unbelievable! I wont let you degrade my personality any further, do you hear me? Do not insult me' She stood up and pursed her lips resisting the temptation to blow the wall with her clenched fists. This wouldnt have happened. If only she had been careful. If only she had ended the relationship on time. What was she going to do now? What if the Lolo find out?
Oh no! What if she found out already? God! This couldnt happen to her.

She raked her hands around the sitting room shaky. She suddenly regretted allowing Ijeoma into her house in the first place.

She was about stepping out for a formal meeting with chiefs from other communities when Ijeoma had paid her a surprise visit.

She had welcomed her in warmly and even offered her something to drink. She had been skeptical about her visit though. And now this?

'does your mum know about this?' She asked as fear laced her voice.

'uhm...should i say yes or no?' Ijeoma tapped her chin with her index finger pretending to be thinking 'well, whether she knows or not, that could be fixed. Actually, she doesnt know but i could tell her. Show her this video and i'm sure she must have somethings to put together and sum everything up. Things would get very messy and i dont want that. So i decided to reason like an adult that i am and i came to meet you. Whatever we end up saying to each other here determines the next step in which we take. And before you even begin to think, you eldest daughter, Shivani knows about this already'

'what?' Freda inhaled deeply. It couldnt be! How could Ijeoma do such a thing to her? How could she spoil her name to her daughter? Her beloved daughter who thought so highly of her mother? She slapped her forehead in frustration, what had she done?!

'i showed her the video' Ijeoma said cutting her thoughts 'at first she didnt believe or rather she tried not to believe but i knew deep down she knew you were capable of something like that. She believed but she just didnt want to show it in front of me. And i wonder, how long has your immoral affair lasted with my dad, a year? Two or three? I need sincere answers'

'dont ask me that question Ijeoma. I dont know what that video of yours says but whatever is in it is just one big misunderstanding. You can ask your father. I will never sleep with your father, my own bestfriend's husband. That would be so low of me and i wouldnt want to drag my name into the mud and...'

'dont you think you should have thought of that already? You already soiled your name Chief Mrs and i swear to you, if you do not co-operate with me, this video will get into my mother's hand and you know what will happen. Without being told'

'are you threatening me?'

'no. Its not a threat. Its just a preamble of whats going to happen soon if you're not careful with me'

'what do you want from me?' She asked through gritted teeth.

'very simple. First i want the truth from you and secondly, i want you to confess to my mother and atone for your sins. And then you stay the hell away from my father!'

Freda gasped 'i cant do that. I mean, i cant tell your mother. She would kill me'

'not if you do it the right way. She'd be mad yes. Every woman would be after being betrayed by her so-called bestfriend. But if you play your cards well, she'd forgive you and move on'

'its not so easy Ijeoma. Your mother would never forgive me. She had always vowed to deal mercilessly with the Igwe's mistress if she ever got to catch them. What would be my fate if such a thing happens to me? I wont be able to stand it Ije. And if she publicises it, i might be stripped of my position as a Chief and the people will hate. My name would be soiled. I cant do that. Myself and my family would be stigmatised. I cant do that' She was sweating despite the air-conditioner in the room.

'my own opinion is, you should have thought of all this before going ahead to grace my father's bed. Do you know the pain you made my mother go through? Do you know what it feels like for your husband to cheat on you? Much less with your own very bestfriend? Do you know the pain thats involved in it? I've been through it Chief Freda and i know it isnt something pleasant, not something anyone should be made to go through!'

'and you think letting her know about it would help her?' Freda asked. She didnt understand this Ijeoma. One second she was calm and the next she was fierce. She had never known the girl to be this way. She had always seen her as a calm and nice person which she was sure she was until something happened to her. She could see it in the girl's eyes. Something terrible had happened to the girl and so she was fierce. What it was Freda couldnt place her fingers on it. But it must have been a very terrible experience for the girl to start behaving this way.

'it would do her and also you much more good if she heard it from your mouth and not someone else's. Especially not from mine' She grinned wickedly.

Freda thought carefully for a while before she lost herself and fell on her knees weeping 'please dont do this to me Ijeoma. I am ready to quit whatever relationship i have with the Igwe. I am ready to turn a new leaf. But i cant let other people in on it too. Apart from me, Shiv, you and your father, no one needs to know'

'i think you're a minute too late. Too late to retrace your steps. You're going to pay for your mistakes Chief Freda. I, will make sure of it'

She smiled again. But not from excitement. But from anger.

iya ibeji congratulations oo. may God make them a blessing to their generation.

Re: Tradition - A Story by Oladim001(m): 10:31pm On May 08, 2017
@chumzypinky. First of all I'd like to congratulate you for the birth of your adorable twins. I pray that God in His infinite mercies gives you the strength and wherewithal to take good care of them. Ameen.
Secondly. I observed that this story isn't correlating with the topic that was used. we've reached seventy pages now and I still don't see how 'Tradition' has to do with the content of your story. Except maybe in d beginning where you were talking of the the numerous number of wives Dike has to marry cos of tradition. And from my foresight of this story I don't think it will have anything to do with it. So I hope you can work on that area of the story. Or maybe it's me getting the whole thing all wrong.
I also want to commend you for the rate of your updates. Despite the fact that you just delivered to not one but TWO babies. You still have time to give updates. I give you a big kudos to you.
The storyline is also fabulous. Nice one to you

'this is wow!' Mia exclaimed rising on her feet as she glared at Angela and Florence. They were sitting in Angela's parlour and it had been two weeks since she moved in with Angela after Florence's parents returned.

'girls, check out what i just watched' She handed her blackberry to them 'thats a sex video of my mum and the king'

'you said?' Florence nearly choked on her cigarette 'where did you get that?'

'well...i have my ways. I've always been suspecting the movement of both my mum and the kind. And so, i paid a staff in the hotel they always frequented and she got me this video!' She slapped her thighs excitedly. This was where she would get her mum. She would make sure her mum crumbled before her very own eyes.

'i never expected this' Florence exchanged glances with Angela.

'and i suppose this is where your revenge against your mum comes in?' Angela questioned.

'always on point Angie' She refilled her glass with whisky 'this video is going to ruin my mum completely. The community and even the Lolo wont spare her'

'so whats going to happen? You're confronting her or....?' Florence asked.

'i was actually thinking of blackmail but whats the point of wasting time? I dont like stressing myself. I'll just walk up to the Lolo and show her this video and thats it! But then i still wonder, isnt that easy? Y'know, i'd like my mother to beg for mercy too'

'i was never in support of this revenge thing Mia. I still believe Freda is your mum' Florence said adjusting her baggy jeans, big ash coloured polo and white canvas, tomboy dressing had always been her style and it suited her not so slim body.

'what mother treats a child the way she treated Mia?' Angela quickly chipped in 'to me, Freda is more or less of a monster. A disgrace to motherhood and she deserves to be dealt with'

'exactly! You're always in touch with my spirit' Mia grinned 'dont mind Florence, she's such a dullskull'

'woreva! I'm outta here. I have a date' Florence picked up her phone and packet of cigarette.

The two girls shrieked in laughter. She stared at both of them confused 'whats wrong? Why are you guys laughing?'

'are you for real? You're going on a date...like this?' Angela glanced at her from head to toe, her face full of laughter.

'and whats wrong with....this?' Florence looked at herself.

'this really isnt new to me anyway. Florence has been my bestie all the way from "far back", and this has been her usual dressing. But i wonder who her date is this time, maybe Mike Tyson' She threw her fists in the emulating the infamous Mike Tyson and Angela laughed again.

'mtcheww! Now i see there's something wrong with the both of you upstairs. What the hell is wrong with my dressing? Do you know how much this can is worth? My mum got it from her last trip to...'

'wherever she got it from, we all know it looks pretty expensive, but dont you get it? It doesnt suit this dressing. Whats with the baggy papa-dash-me jeans and the-fish-swallowed-Jonah polo? C'mon now. You could make do with some classy, sexy and exotic dress, revealing and muahh, and some classy shoe like Jimmychoo, and where's your clutch? Oh, whatever happened to Gabanna, Gucci, Versace and others?' Angela teased.

'nah! I'd rather dress up in rags than wear those kind of clothes. They are just not my style'

'but i bet they'd look good on you. Floury, ever wondered why your relationships never lasted and why your dates never called you a second time? Because they are not impressed. I mean, no guy wants to go around hanging with a tomboy, gosh! How does he flaunt you to his friends when you're dressed like the nigga? Yo mehn, yo yo nigga. Two fingers in the air' She placed her right hand under her shorts and pretended to "pack".

'yeah thats how we roll!' Angela said and they both laughed.

'now i dont like what you guys are doing. You're both killing my spirit and now i feel nothing's gonna come out of this date!' She sat back and reached for a cigarette.

'no point giving up Floury. I believe a man will love you notwithstanding' Mia said.

'i dont appreciate you teasing her that way Mia. Lets call a spade a spade'

Flourence lighted a cigarette then faced Mia 'Mia, do you think thats why Tom left me? Maybe i wasnt dressing to his taste or...never mind'

Mia for the first time saw vulnerability in her friend's eyes and she felt sorry. Her friend really needed a man in her life.

Tom had disvirgined and shattered her friend, leaving her heartbroken. And he was going to pay. She was going to make sure of that.

all my kids starting from birth has always been heavy sleepers, Gabriel and Elle sleep 12hrs out of 24hrs a day. That gives me time to clean just my bedroom since my mum and mother-inlaw are still around. I dont have to cook or prepare d oda kids fo skul or even wash my clothes because they do it for me, so u see? I'm a bit free except times when i have to rest or breastfeed kids or be with my husband. But by the time my mums leave by next month, hmm *In Tekno's voice* Yawa go dey, see gobe, baby yawa go dey. 'hey'

Shivan i startled at the familiar masculine voice almost cutting herself with the knife. She turned quickly and managed a smile, yesterday's event flashing through her mind and she tried to supress the feeling of embarrassment she felt 'hello, good morning. Ready for work? Uhm...have you had breakfast?'

He shook his head 'i just had coffee and a slice of cake and i feel full already'

'nice one. Take care then' She tried flashing a bright smile. She suddenly looked down conscious of the pink short nightie she wore which ended just few inches below her ass. She hadnt woken up on time and by the time she entered the kitchen to prepare breakfast for herself, the kitchen looked empty and she felt everyone was up in their room busy with one thing or the other and Dike must have left for work. But seeing as his eyes raked over her partly covered body made her feel underdressed.

'i'm sorry if...' She was saying but he cut in quickly.

'i was wondering...uhm, about what my sister did or rather said to you yesterday, what are you gonna do about it?' He asked 'pardon me if i'm being too inquisitive though'

'oh' She looked down 'to be sincere i dont have any plans. Maybe i should just pay my mum a visit, do you think that would be necessary?' Her heart skipped a beat when she saw him moving closer to her. What was he going to do? Her heart pumped faster.

He's coming closer. Her heart sang. Is he going to kiss me? Or hold me? Or...take me in the kitchen? Oh no!

But he brushed past her and she turned to see what he wanted to do. And she was surprised when he reached for the bottle of groundnut oil and poured a little quantity into the frying pan.
That was when she remembered she had left the frying pan on the gas cook for the water in it to dry before pouring the oil into it.

'how many eggs are you frying?' He asked.

'two' She mumbled 'do you care for?'

'nah. I'm late for work already' He covered the bottle and dropped it beside the cooker
