sup dear, I am also considering Baylor Scott and white Carrollton based on someone's quote here. I also intend to travel early and see if I can get a better option.

Pls let me know if u find an affordable ticket. When are u planning ur trip? We are 3 in this trend heading to Dallas almost same time.
I had to settle for qater airline. I try to get a quote from Baylor Carrollton it was difficult as they told me they don't have a package for cs twin but later she said the estimates are 15 to 30k for me then 5 to 10k for each of my babies. I really don't know what to do now, am scheduled to travel 3 Ed week of June. Pls house any i deal of another hospital in Dallas for twin birth that will not cut my neck

I will suggest you look at Houston, its just a couple of hours drive from Dallas.... Oakbend and Dr Fagbohun is a good place with reasonable amount. Also you can get affordable accomodation close by there.

Hello house,

Thanks to everyone who contributes positively to this forum, it makes the whole missionary journey less stressful and arms one with current and up to date information. Now to the famous giving back.

Missionary journey ended March 31 officially, had an existing valid visa prior to pregnancy. After extensive research on POE and flight cost I settled for Ethiopian airlines and booked my ticket 3months before travel date. As much as Ethiopian airline has great on board experience, one will be frustrated with their level of disorganisation from Nigeria, but they do have great IFE, Bassinet for baby, 4 course meal (prepare for some tomato and pepperless food), short flight duration.

My Nigerian flight was cancelled due to bad weather after being called for boarding and had to miss my previously booked flight on united airline and its not refundable since am missing the originating outbound flight from New jersey (the thing pain me oo )

New Jersey POE was great, long queue but quite fast
CBP: Hello
Me; Hi
CBP: Why are you here
Me: Childbirth and vacation
CBP: What do you do back home
ME: Quantity surveyor (had to use cost engineer to explain)
CBP: Oh! I was once in the construction industry, but not anymore due to bad economy
Me: True, Nigerian economy too is getting affected
CBP: how long will you be here for?
Me: 12 weeks and he stamped me for 6months

My final destination was Odessa texas (8hrs drive from houston) and great town I must say. Had my first appointment with DR G and I was presented with a bill of 2200 (1500 for delivery and 700 for 1st office visit, scan and all test required)

Hospital used was ORMC, they have an agreement already drafted out for self/cash paying patient,

US passport - 165dollars
Passport photograph - 7.74 dollars (2 copies at walmart)
ETC - 385 dollars (P.S- I presented this to travel at the US airport and wasn't asked any question afterwards)
Birth certificate- 23 dollars
babys one way ticket -76 dollars (after spending hours on phone with different samuels in Ethiopia, who told me their system doesnt accept Nigeria cards be it Naira or dollar denominated)

lesson learnt;
1. PRAY!PRAY!!PRAY!!! pregnancy isnt easy and the stress of birthing in another country faraway from home increases the stress and uncertainty.
2. start your processing early to gather all info and document
3. book your ticket, accommodation (if necessary) early to reduce stress of finances and you focus on the journey itself
4. book your local flight when you are in the plane leaving for USA or have someone do it for you (southwest comes highly recommended)
5. Having any family member for assistance will be highly helpful if traveling alone
6. Dont debate PKU test, it is compulsory in the state of texas (na fear of dollar)
7. RESEARCH, READ, RESEARCH, READ in that order over and over again.
8. Always ask questions to be sure of the deal you are getting
9. Start your babys passport application early, to avoid unecessary delay and if you dont have SSN ensure to sign a declaration form with your application.

In the spirit of giving back, here is DW POE story:

Booked Emirates and boarded on 3rd May. Meanwhile Emirates told DW that she doesn't need the MEDIF fit forms as she is below 36weeks. DW went with a fit to fly from a private hospital dated a week to her travel date.

Emirates flight was okay as she got a row to herself to sleep both on the dubai and houston legs of the trip. Fast forward to IAH; met with a black CBP:

CBP: Good afternoon, your passport and why are you in US?
DW: (Hands over passport) For childbirth and vacation
CBP: Okay. When is your due date
DW: June 2017
CBP: why come to the US for childbirth?
DW: For better health care (in a tired voice after like 24 hours trip)
CBP:What happened to the healthcare in Nigeria as you were there for 8 months
DW: Nothing, I just want a better health care as recommended by someone I know
CBP: Or are you expecting something to happen to the baby
DW: Nothing is going to happen to my baby
CBP: did you come with foodstuffs? Meat?
DW: Yes, egusi, dried fish, etc No meat
CBP: You didn't declare currency on this paper
DW: cos I don't have up to 10k cash on me
CBP: have you prepaid any bills
DW: hospital and doctor don't accept prepayments
CBP: do u have any family in the US? why this address on your slip?
DW: The address of my host as I'm using a paid accommodation. I don't have anyone in US at the moment.

Stamped in for 6months. I was directed to Agriculture. Bags were scanned but not opened. Na so DW enter America. The funny part was that DW was expecting that the people around the agriculture section would be nice considering she was heavy. They would not even offer a seat not to talk of assisting to lift the bags on the cart. Thank God the queue wasn't too long.

Naija people are nice in their way o, nobody will see a pregnant woman in Nigeria nd not try to fast track the queue for her or offer her a seat.

DW is chilling for the arrival of LO.

Babes this bill high and not clear. If you intend renting an apartment, I think Houston will be cheaper for you as adviced below. I used Medical Centre of Plano in 2015 but I dont think that their bill will be this high for multiple.

I also strongly believe that u can get a better deal if you go there urself and pay upfront. meanwhile how much is qatat airline and is their POE in Dallas DFW?

I dont think that there is any cause for alarm, since you will be in Dallas early, just go and negotiate, U can also get other hospitals with better offer. I will be coming in mid - end of Aug. Like Qatar dont fly from Abuja. I reside in Abuja, checked no flight from Abj - Dallas.

I've paid Oakbend but not with Form A. Sent cash to someone in the US to make the payment for me. To the best of my knowledge Oakbend doesn't accept transfers.

How much is Oakbend hospital fees currently?
