The guy is a hungry lawyer, seeking for every little avenue to enrich himself. A typical Nigerian is hospitable, tolerant, patient and sacrificial.

Tolerant in the face of horrible service abi? There has been a breach of contract somewhere leading to losses for one party. Does tolerance mean that you should keep quiet when people trample upon your rights?

Okay, you say the lawyer is hungry, na you know -- let's leave all of that to a judge to decide whether he has a case or not. Do not be quick to name calling. A person fighting for their rights is never hungry.

Mr. Sacrificial, I am sure you will let tolerance be your watchword if you community begins to see you in a bad light because of an issue that you had no hand in.

Mr. Patience, I hope your patience will also stand the test when somebody burns down your house and you choose not to pursue justice.

You don't understand why western societies work, and ours doesn't.

Your definition of a typical Nigerian is sad and unfortunate.

No wonder government and politicians run circle around the citizens without fail.

Gosh!

You are worse than Access Bank being sued!!!
why not sue PHCN/NEPA and make your billions?

Idiot. People like you will be crying foul if it were to be an ordinary Nigerian.
They are trying to rip the man off his 40k as they do to most Nigerian who will later resort to "God will flight for me" mentra.

Now, he's got the resources to fight for his right, and you're here spewing trash.

Do you know the billions of naira 40k will amount to if its was deducted from say 2% of the customers that use their ATM

*Spits on you and walks away*

Edited:
I know you lack the mental ability to comprehend the article, what the man really sued for is that; While trying to use access ATM, he was debited the 40k he wanted to withdraw without the ATM dispensing him the cash, and thereafter several complaints laid, the bank refuses to credit him back his money and at the same time, didn't choose the right word while addressing him.

If the defaulting bank can not resolve the issue within 3 days or give a satisfactory answer to the financial mêlée, then seeking legal redress is the way to go.

Most banks in Nigeria have this poor customer relations and they think they are doing you one mighty favour because you put your money in thier system.

The case is dead on arrival! Go and read the terms and conditions when you opened your bank account and subsequently received your ATM card, it is all there and clear to see for anybody willing to read the fine prints of a contract.

Oga read am wella, the ATM default policy is to refund you after 24 hours... The man has not got a refund after months, with their customer care throwing you jab as if it's not your pay .

Let him sue their ass... even if h doesn't get any compensation, it will send a very strong signal to them, to always address customers nicely.

from 50% of the responses on this topic, i can deduce that this country is devoid of hope for a better tomorrow.
A man has been maligned by a business that is set up for profit, he is seeking compensation and most people here are finding it funny and amusing.... it is a big shame!

You people should go and educate yourselves on how the legal process works so as to be better informed.

Yet, a good number of you are dreaming of moving to america or somewhere in europe.... have you asked yourselves why businesses in these places, especially the big ones don't joke around with any customer - even the least of them? The slightest mistake that causes any customer grief will see you paying your half years profit as compensation to that customer. The lawyers and the judicial systems in these countries live for these type of cases and that is why every aspect of their society functions the way it should. Social advancements and inventions for better living usually come from these type of law suits. Imagine if every single person that feels wronged by any business files a lawsuit and claims damages, do you know how many businesses - both government and private that will step up their game and procedures?

for example.....

In probably the most famous example of a seemingly trivial legal action is Liebeck v. McDonald’s Restaurants, also known as the McDonald’s coffee case and the hot coffee lawsuit

In 1992 Stella Liebeck, a 79-year-old woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, bought a cup of coffee from a drive through McDonalds and as she removed the lid, spilled the entire cup of coffee on her lap.

She was wearing cotton sweatpants; they absorbed the coffee and held it against her skin, scalding her thighs, buttocks, and groin.

Hospitalized for eight days while she underwent skin grafting, followed by two years of medical treatment she sued the fast food giant claiming it was too hot and more likely to cause serious injury than coffee served at any other establishment.

She won an astonishing £1.7million.

As a result of this, McDonald's stopped serving extremely hot coffee, except on request by the customer.

Do you think what the man is doing up there in the story is still trivial? undecided
