Sometimes, no amount of explanation can appease a angry mob. The villagers were already set to deal with anyone who by any iota of chance resembles a robber, considering it was reported that there was a robbery incidence there the previous day.

The problem with a mob is that there will a part of it that will be impatient to listen to the accused. In fact the more he/she tries to explain, the more he will appear to confirm their suspicion. You are talking of illiterates.

We lost my mum's immediate elder brother to Boko Haram early last month(he was a military officer) you sign an undertaking that your family won't press charges if you die in active service, your local government area chairman signs this and you also bring a sworn affidavit from a high court. I lost my best friend during my short stint at NDA, its not an easy route

its a shame that up till this day in nigeria, the government has not raised a serious alarm and warning through sensitization and laws to preventing it from becoming an accepted thing. even educated people support it. iys terrible.

I commend you and anyone ever involved, past and presently, it can't be easy mehnn. Do the immediate families of those in service get some type of compensation if they're killed on the job?

Thanks, Yes there do but it takes a while because of bureaucracy, you are ejected from ur quarters, not a good tale overall.

Cos from what I heard, he was begging and explaining to people that he's not a thief. I mean, who does that despite holding a gun? It must have dawned on him after he realized that they were bent on killing him.

She did nothing by raising an alarm. We should all be security conscious. She is guilty like all others, because she participated in the murder. And also the onlookers are partially culpable as well.

The problem is when people take the law into their own hands. The legal system, in the ideal situation, is trained to handle such matters and determine guilt and punishment.

I totally agree with you, jungle justice is a cancer, a serious malady and infection in african society, it must be cured through public enlightenment and government intervention.

what a pity. i really feel bad about this. i once wrote to Bbc and included pictures in my write up , for them add voice in our cries against jungle justice in nigeria. two years later, they wrote to me asking me for videos and exact locations, i wrote back providing a link to aluu four, they are yet to respond. same with amnesty international. its a pity africans are so backward.

It is this last part (and we cam see the woman taking close pictures, of the burnt man) that makes me think this was more then just a case of armed robber being dealt with.
