damilareoye: Do you know why your women lie so much about their ages? It is because the Nigerian society discriminates against them based on age. You don't see people in advanced countries lying about their age because citizens in those countries don't make condescending comments to women when they reveal their true age. In Nigeria, it is so common for the average Nigerian to say demeaning things to someone whose age they know like "you won't respect your age" or "at your age you never marry" or "at your age you never born" or at "at your age you are still unemployed" or 'at your age blah, blah, blah", you get the point. So because Nigerian women and sometimes men don't want people verbally insulting them and using their age as a reference, they choose to hide or lie about their real age. The irony is that, even when you are honest and tell Nigerians your real age, they will still doubt you so you can't win when it comes to most Nigerians. You just face your life because the average Nigerian will frustrate the hell out of you if you let them. 7 Likes |

Thank God for those of us(like Kate henshaw and Genevieve) with good genes just add exercise and healthy diet and we can look ten years younger than our real ages  Better ask your wife- to -be for her birth certificate in front of family (both yours and hers) before una marry. Personally, I don't even have to back date my age,my baby face has done it for me ,and it can sometimes be annoying , I remember one time,someone greeted only my younger sis ,she had to draw his attention to the fact that I was her elder sister, come and see the fellow was even arguing with my sister that it was a lie 1 Like |
